Isla Fisher chats Home and Away

These days, Isla Fisher may be better known for her Hollywood roles – The Great Gatsby, Definitely Maybe and Wedding Crashers to name but a few – than for playing flame-haired Shannon Reed in Home and Away, but the Aussie actress hasn’st forgotten her roots.

Isla features in the June edition of Easy Living Magazine, and as well as chatting about her new role as Myrtle Wilson in The Great Gatsby, she reminisced about her time in Summer Bay.

She told the magazine: “I feel so sentimental about that time. Although I can barely remember any of it – the storylines were so fast and so ludicrous. One week you had anorexia, the next you were lesbian, the next week you were an incest victim… and you were in a bikini on the beach and in the coffee shop, and in a bikini at a funeral.”

Isla played Shannon in Home and Away from 1994 until 1997. The adopted daughter of Pippa and Michael Ross, her character Shannon did indeed suffer from anorexia and a lesbian crush, and had a brief relationship with her brother Curtis, shocking sleepy Summer Bay until it was revealed that the pair were only adopted siblings.

Since leaving Summer Bay for California, Isla’ss career has gone from strength to strength. The wife of comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, she has starred in a number of highly successful Hollywood blockbusters. Her latest movie, The Great Gatsby, is released on 10th May.
