Alf stars in new Snickers commercial!

Alf Stewart is well known for his fiery temper and flamin’s catchphrases, but probably not so well known for his biking skills. Yet Ray Meagher, the actor behind Alf, stars in the Australian version of Snickers’s worldwide “You’sre not you when you’sre hungry” campaign, playing his famous Summer Bay alter ego struggling to control a motorbike.

Ray plays the hungry side of a young biker, whose hunger transforms him into a ‘scranky old man’s, until a Snickers returns him to his normal self.

Mumbrella, an Australian media and marketing blog, quotes Brad Cole, Mars segment leader, as saying of Meagher: “He doesn’t normally do commercials – he’s very protective of his personal brand. But he’d seen the Betty White ads and just loved them. We feel so lucky to have such an iconic Australian actor working for Snickers.”

Ray follows in the footsteps of Joan Collins, who stars in the UK version, and Joe Pesci and Betty White, who both starred in the US version of the Snickers commercial.
