Dramatic new Neighbours trailer

FBI employees secret Home and Away fans?

Posted on Categories General News

It looks like the FBI are fans of Summer Bay. TorrentFreak, a popular torrent news website, reports that an episode of Home and Away is one of a number of copyrighted files that appear to have been downloaded by employees at the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division.

Using data from ScanEye, which monitors BitTorrent downloads, the website discovered that a number of major US TV shows and movies, as well as a single episode of Home and Away, were downloaded by IP addresses belonging to the Criminal Justice Information Services Division over a period of several months.

The episode in question was Episode 5620, which aired in October 2012 and saw Bianca’ss worst nightmare realised as she’ss unable to wake Rocco. Other somewhat less unusual titles included major US hits Homeland, Dexter and The Girl Who Played With Fire.

It’ss unknown whether these downloads were part of some kind of data gathering operation, or were simply downloaded for personal use. TorrentFreak reports that if it’ss the latter, this wouldn’st be the first time a US government department has been discovered to be illegally pirating movies and TV shows – with the site accusing the Department of Justice of doing just that in December 2012.
