Benjamin Shatliff Posted December 17, 2020 Report Share Posted December 17, 2020 Hello All, I have been watching the first season on Amazon Prime over the last few days and a question has arisen again which has often puzzled me. Why were Celia, Roo, Donald, Lance, Martin and Matt not included in the opening credits immediately rather than a few months in? They must have been classed as regulars as their names appeared at the end even when they didn’t appear in the episodes. Red Ranger 1 Posted December 18, 2020 Report Share Posted December 18, 2020 Well, it'll probably be impossible to know for sure, but one possibility that springs to mind is that the title sequence was filmed at the same time as the pilot (complete with the alternate shot of Bobby) and they didn't have enough money to film new shots for characters who were either introduced later or not intended to be as prominent as they became until after it became clear the show was going to carry on. Matt Wilson never really appeared regularly from the beginning. His appearances were quite sporadic for the first 100ish episodes, then he was added to the opening credits and then left a few weeks later. That makes sense. All except Matt Wilson appeared in the official original cast photo too and Lance, Martin, Roo and and Don were probably more prominent than Neville and Floss in the early days. In the pilot, Donald was the antagonist, Bobby was not part of the Fletcher family and Lance and Martin were only minor characters in the pilot (though again, I wouldn't have said Neville, Floss, Alf and Ailsa were major characters in the pilot), so they probably just found it easier to continue with the pilot opening titles for a while.
