Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and Mars Chocolate Australia are set to release a new Snickers campaign this Sunday featuring Australian soap star Ray Meagher highlighting the Snickers premise that 'You're Not You When You're Hungry'.

This work is the first Australian iteration of the wildly popular global Snickers 'You're Not You When You're Hungry' campaign, which began with the famous Betty White Super Bowl commercial three years ago.

Mars segment leader - bars, Brad Cole, says Ray Meagher, despite his famously cantankerous alter-ego, was an absolute delight to work with.

Says Cole: "He doesn't normally do commercials - he's very protective of his personal brand. But he'd seen the Betty White ads and just loved them. We feel so lucky to have such an iconic Australian actor working for Snickers."

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne executive creative director, Ant Keogh, says every market around the world does their own local version of the campaign.

Says Keogh: "I'm pretty sure no one else's has a "flamin' heck" in it."

Shot at Appin Motor Cross track in NSW, the commercials were directed by Brendan Gibbons, who was also responsible for the Mars 'Runaway Train' campaign released at the end of last year. The stunt man who takes the jump on the BMX bike is Rhys James, one of Australia's leading parkour competitors.

Watch out for another familiar face too!

The UK version features Joan Collins incidentally, and Joe Pesci also appeared in another US one.

This ad was very amusing purely because Ray's in it. I have to give him credit for going outside Home and Away to do this commercial. I loved the fact he was like Alf Stewart in the commercial.

You're quite right, the guy who plays Mullens is in the commercial as well.
