Episode 47

Tasmine is taken to Wollongong Hospital to be examined.

*As the ambulance officers wheel Tasmine towards the door, Sabrina and Janae sit in the waiting room*

Sabrina: We have to inform her parents.

Janae: Tracey’s on the phone to Mrs McCreed right now.

Sabrina: Hope she doesn’t die.

*Tracey approaches the girls*

Tracey: They’re on their way.

*Sabrina buries her face in her hands and starts to cry*

Tracey: I know it’s hard, Sabrina. You had to witness that. *puts her arm around Sabrina*

Sabrina: *tearfully* I know.

Janae: Bestie, I hate seeing you like this. You’re like our rock.

Sabrina: The rock that keeps this group together.

Tracey: I’ve sent Jackson and TJ a text, informing them of the accident.

Janae: I’ll text Abby.

Sabrina: *wipes away her tears* Doesn’t she have practice today?

Janae: She can come after practice. I can’t wait to hear about it.

Tracey: Do I detect some trouble amongst her fellow cheerleaders?

Janae: Apparently this bitch is giving my cousin and Cam a hard time. Hope I see her so I can knock her out.

Sabrina: You’d knock anyone out. *laughs*

Janae: Hey, I don’t mess around when it comes to my favourite cousin.

*Tasmine’s parents arrive*

Mrs McCreed: Hi girls. Any news?

Sabrina: The doctors are examining her now.

Mr McCreed: Was she wearing a helmet?

Sabrina: She was.

*At that moment, a male doctor approaches them*

Doctor: Mr and Mrs McCreed?

Mr McCreed: How is she doctor?

Doctor: She’s got a fractured rib and some pain in her neck and back. She’s lucky she was wearing a helmet otherwise it could’ve been a whole lot worse.

Mrs McCreed: How long will she be in hospital for?

Doctor: The rest of the week. I do recommend that she lay off the skateboarding for at least three weeks to let her rib heal.

Mr McCreed: Thanks doctor.

*The doctor walks away*

Tracey: I best be going. I better check up on Jacob.

Sabrina: Janae and I send our love.

Tracey: I will pass that on to him. *smiles*

Janae: Hope he comes to school tomorrow.

Tracey: He better be. *to Mr and Mrs McCreed* I’ll come visit during the week.

Mrs McCreed: We’ll keep you updated, girlie.

*Tracey smiles at them before walking away*

Later that afternoon, Cam and Abby arrive at cheerleading practice to find Imogen Douglas sneering at them.

Imogen: *being fake* Hi girls.

Abby: You are such a cow, Imogen.

Imogen: Me a cow? Oh, it must be the other way around. Moo-moo!

*Some of the other cheerleaders laugh*

Cam: That’s funny, Imogen.

Imogen: Why is that?

Cam: Because you’re a dirty little liar.

Imogen: Now, I’m being called a liar. How charming!

*Michelle Morris gets up and stands next to Cam and Abby*

Michelle: You are so full of s**t! YOU were the one that victimised me! Cam never victimised you at all!

Imogen: You don’t know what you’re talking about, Michelle. So, butt out!

Abby: And we’ve never spread rumours about you!

Imogen: You did so!

Cam: Prove it, liar!

Imogen: All right, I made it up! I made the whole story up!

*Unfortunately for Imogen, the coach has heard everything!*

Coach: IMOGEN DOUGLAS! I’M TAKING YOU STRAIGHT TO THE CEO!

*Imogen leaves with the coach for the Wollongong Hawks CEO’s office*

Abby: Looks like she’s in trouble.

Cam: Good riddance.

*they high-five*

(A few minutes later, the girls are doing warm-ups when they see Imogen walk towards the locker room looking upset.)

Girl 1: I wonder where SHE is off to?

Girl 2: To cry herself a river, I guess.

Abby: Girls.

*The coach approaches them*

Coach: Ladies. Imogen Douglas is no longer part of the team. We do not tolerate troublemakers amongst this group. We are a team and being part of a team is to help each other, not cause trouble. Now, Abby Mitchell I think you would make a good candidate on being the new head cheerleader. Do you accept it?

Abby: Coach, I think you should give it to Michelle.

Cam: Are you sure, Abby? You’ve always wanted to be head cheerleader.

Abby: I think I should focus on my modelling career at the moment. Michelle is the most deserving candidate there is.

Coach: Michelle?

Michelle: Okay.

Coach: Then it’s settled. Michelle Morris is our new head cheerleader.

*Everyone applauds them as Imogen leaves the stadium in disgrace*

Imogen: *crying* Some people are so fake!

*Imogen heads out the doors*

Michelle: Thanks Abby.

Abby: You deserve it.

*Michelle hugs Abby*

Cam: I’m proud to call you my bestie, Abigail Mitchell. I really am.

Abby: Thanks Camryn.

*Cam and Abby look at each other before laughing*

When Tracey arrives back from the hospital, she sees that Jacob isn’t home.

Tracey: Jacob, I’m back!

*Tracey looks in the bedrooms and finds nothing*

Tracey: I might as well prepare dinner.

(When dinner time approaches, Jacob still hasn’t arrived home and Tracey starts to become concerned)

Tracey: Oh Jacob. I hope you’re not stuck in traffic.

(By 9:00pm, Tracey is being to enter frantic mode and decides to call his parents.)

Tracey: Hi, is Jacob with you? I see. It’s just that he hasn’t come home for dinner. It’s just not normal. Did he go to Samoa without telling me? No, I didn’t think he would. Call me back when you see him. Good night.

*Tracey sits on the lounge and holds a pillow towards her chest with a worried expression on her face*

Episode 48

Tracey arrives at Warrawong High the next morning (Tuesday), looking very tired and upset.

Sabrina: Tracey, you look dreadful.

Tracey: *sarcastically* Thanks.

Sabrina: No, but seriously you do look it.

Tracey: I’ve hardly slept all night. Have you seen Peter?

Sabrina: I don’t think he’s come to school yet. Why, what’s wrong?

Tracey: Jacob didn’t come home last night.

Sabrina: Oh no.

Tracey: I’m just really worried about him. He wasn’t at school yesterday either.

*Janae walks over to Tracey and Sabrina*

Janae: Did he come home?

*Tracey shakes her head*

Janae: Oh come here.

*Janae hugs Tracey*

Tracey: I’ve had an hours sleep, I’ve called the police and I’ve called the hospitals just in case he’s there. Nothing so far.

Sabrina: He’ll probably come in today.

*Peter walks over to them*

Peter: Hey girls.

Tracey: Was Jacob over at your place last night?

Peter: No.

Tracey: He didn’t come home last night.

Peter: I’m sure he’ll turn up at school today. It’s not like Jacob to just disappear.

*Tracey looks uncertain*

By Period 4, Jacob still hasn’t shown up to school. The stress is beginning to take its toll on Tracey.

Tracey: I can’t do this anymore. I just can’t.

*Tracey walks out of her Ancient History class, followed by Janae*

Janae: Hey bestie. Come on. It’s going to be okay.

Tracey: I just wish he’d text or call me. *starts to cry*

Janae: I’ll stay with you tonight.

Tracey: Please. I need a friend right now.

*Janae puts her arms around a crying Tracey*

(At an airport in Sydney, Jacob is making his way towards the gate entrance.)

Jacob: How long until the flight?

Airport Worker: You’ve got 10 minutes, sir.

Jacob: Thanks.

*Jacob makes his way towards the plane*

Jacob: *to himself* Here goes.

Episode 49

When Tracey arrives home from school that afternoon, there is still no sign of Jacob.
Tracey: Go figure. He’s still not home.
Janae: At least I’m with you.
Tracey: I don’t know what I’d do without you, Janae.
Janae: Sabrina’s on her way. She’s just visiting Tasmine in the hospital.
Tracey: Is she staying as well?
Janae: Of course. *smiles*
Tracey: When is he coming home? *looks stressed out*
Janae: He’ll be home soon. I just know he will.
(At Peter’s house, he too is missing Jacob.)
Peter: What if something bad happens to him, Ab?
Abby: If something bad happened, his parents would’ve let us or the school know.
Peter: This is really unfair, you know. My best friend goes missing just after he received the news that his uncle is dying of cancer.
Abby: You and Jacob have been friends for a long time, aye?
Peter: Since Year 7. He’s like the brother I never had.
Abby: I feel the same way about Janae. Even though she’s my blood cousin, I think of her as a sister.
Peter: I hope he comes back.
Abby: I know he will.
*Peter and Abby hug tightly*

In Wollongong Hospital, Sabrina is visiting Tasmine.
Sabrina: How’s the rib?
Tasmine: Still sore.
Sabrina: Well, that’s no surprise. I’m just glad that you’re still smiling.
Tasmine: Me too.
*Sabrina notices some flowers next to the drawer*
Sabrina: Someone loves you. Who gave you the flowers?
Tasmine: Well…
*Sabrina looks at the card attached to the flowers*
Sabrina: “To Tas,
I hope you get better soon.
Jacob.”

Tasmine: I’ve been meaning to talk to you about that.
Sabrina: Was Jacob here today?
Tasmine: *lying* No. His mother brought them in.
Sabrina: Why do I get the feeling that you’re lying to me?
Tasmine: Why would I lie about something like that?
Sabrina: I can read you like a cheap teen fiction novel, Tasmine McCreed. If you know where he is, you have to tell me.
Tasmine: All right. He came in to visit me and said that he was going away for a while.
Sabrina: Did he say where?
Tasmine: No. And I’m being honest when I say that.
Sabrina: Tracey’s going to be devastated.
Tasmine: I know. The least he could’ve done was tell me where he was going. *looks upset*
Sabrina: I don’t blame you for protecting him, but as his friends we have a right to know what’s happening.
*Tasmine buries her face into Sabrina’s shoulder*

When Sabrina arrives at Tracey and Jacob’s, she sees that Tracey isn’t there.
Sabrina: Tracey?
*Janae races out of the bathroom*
Janae: Oh Sabrina. I’m glad you’re here.
Sabrina: What is it?
Janae: Tracey just received a call from Jacob.
Sabrina: And?
Janae: He wouldn’t tell her where he was, so she ended up smashing the phone in pieces.
Sabrina: Where is she now?
Janae: She just bolted out of the house, crying.
Sabrina: I just KNEW something like this was going to happen. Come on, Janae. We’re going to find her.
*Janae and Sabrina leave the flat*
(At Corrimal Beach, Tracey is sitting on the front of Jacob’s Holden Kingswood. She looks absolutely shattered.)
*Tracey looks at a photo of her and Jacob from the school disco while crying*

NEXT TIME
- Tracey has flashbacks of her past, causing even more emotional turmoil
- Peter receives a phone call from Jacob
- Imoska befriends an Illawarra Sports High student
WHEN THE TRACEY TURNER STORY CONTINUES

Quick questions: Do you think Tracey will get over this quickly? What did you think of Sabrina's "I can read you like a cheap teen fiction novel" comment?

Episode 50

That night, Tracey is still sitting on the Kingswood. She is having flashbacks of her past.
(Flashback to a 13 year-old Tracey stealing a bottle of Pepsi Max from Coles)
Shop assistant: Excuse me?
Tracey: Yes?
Shop assistant: I’m afraid you’ll have to come with me.
Tracey: Why?
Shop assistant: I saw you stole that bottle of Pepsi Max over there.
*Tracey kicks the shop assistant in the shin and bolts off*
Shop assistant: SECURITY!!!
*Tracey manages to dodge the security guards and flee the shopping centre*
(end flashback)
*Tracey starts to cry*
(Flashback to a 14 year-old Tracey arriving at Cook Vale High in March 1989. She had been kicked out of John Therry Catholic High the previous month.)
Teacher: Class, I’d like you to welcome Tracey Turner. She has just come over from John Therry Catholic High School.
Girl: *with disinterest* Looks like we’ve got a snob in our class!
*Tracey looks intimidated by the girl*
Girl: *sarcastically* We’ll make you feel nice and welcome.
*Tracey gets fed up with this girl by lunchtime and has her in a headlock*
Tracey: ARE YOU GOING TO PICK ON ME AGAIN, BITCH?!?
Girl: N-no.
Tracey: Good!
*Tracey lets the girl out of the headlock, who decides to make the right decision and run off*
(end flashback)
*Tracey wipes away her tears and drinks the bottle of Vanilla Coke she brought with her*
(Flashback to two months earlier, where Tracey is living in Summer Bay with her previous foster parents. She is having a fight with Sophie Simpson.)
Tracey: You are such a loser, Sophie!
Sophie: Just rack off, Tracey.
Tracey: I wouldn’t talk to me like that if I were you. You don’t want to get in trouble from Mr and Mrs Hick now, do we?
Sophie: You planted those cigarettes in my room!
Tracey: And I got away with it too! You were born a loser, Sophie. You always were and always are!
*Sophie lunges at Tracey and attacks her*
(end flashback)
Sabrina: Tracey?
*Tracey turns around to find Sabrina and Janae standing there*
Tracey: How did you find me?
Janae: We reported the Kingswood was missing and the police took us here.
Tracey: I’m a terrible person. Jacob won’t even tell me where he is.
Sabrina: You are far from a terrible person, Miss. You are heaps nice.
Tracey: After all the things I’ve done in my past? I’m not nice. I’m malicious. *starts to cry again*
Janae: Come here. *pulls Tracey into a hug*
Sabrina: It’s been a rough few days for all of us. Why don’t we go back home and sleep on the sofa bed?
Tracey: I don’t have a sofa bed.
Sabrina: Didn’t you know that the lounge in your apartment was a sofa bed?
Tracey: No, I didn’t. Let’s do that. We could stuff our faces with Nutella as well.
Janae: Nutella sandwiches!
Tracey: Even better.
*Tracey and the girls get inside the Kingswood and drive back to the apartment*

The next morning (Wednesday), Imoska is waiting for the bus to take her to school when she sees a student from Illawarra Sports High drop their contents on the ground.
Jocelyn Evans: Shoot!
Imoska: Let me help you.
Jocelyn: Thanks.
*Imoska helps Jocelyn put her contents back into her school bag*
Imoska: So what sports do you do?
Jocelyn: I’m sorry?
Imoska: Judging from your uniform, I’m guessing you go to the Illawarra Sports High.
Jocelyn: Yes, I do.
Imoska: I go to Warrawong High.
Jocelyn: That’s not a bad school. You didn’t tell me your name.
Imoska: Imoska Lewis. You are?
Jocelyn: Jocelyn Evans, Year 11.
Imoska: I’m in Year 11 too.
Jocelyn: I seriously can’t wait until I get to Year 12. Then, school’s out forever!
Imoska: I know right.
*the bus comes*
Jocelyn: I know we just met, but would you like to meet up after school?
Imoska: Sure. Depends where you want to go?
Jocelyn: I wanna go to Westfield.
Imoska: I’ll meet you there.
Jocelyn: In the food court.
Imoska: Will do. *smiles*
*Imoska and Jocelyn get on the bus*
(Meanwhile, Peter is about to leave for school when his mobile phone goes off.)
*Peter looks at the phone which says ‘private number’*
Peter: Hello?
Jacob: Hey man, it’s Jacob.
Peter: Jacob, where the hell are you man? Tracey and the others are worried sick about you, not to mention myself.
Jacob: Don’t tell anyone this, but I’m in Samoa. My favourite Uncle died early this morning, so I’ve been in Samoa to say goodbye to him. I should be back after the funeral.
Peter: When is that going to be?
Jacob: Sometime next week.
Peter: But Jacob…
*Jacob hangs up the phone*
Peter: What am I going to do?
*Peter looks concerned*

Episode 51

When Peter arrives at school that morning, he immediately avoids Tracey.
Tracey: Hey Peter!
*Peter pretends not to hear and races off*
Tracey: That’s odd. Peter isn’t talking to us.
Janae: Poor guy must be upset about Jacob.
Sabrina: I don’t blame him. They’ve been best mates for years.
Tracey: At least Lilly has left us alone.
Janae: Oh, that mutt. I forgotten about her.
Sabrina: Well, on the bright side, Tasmine comes home from hospital today.
Tracey: I’m so happy for her. I just wish Jacob would come back.
*Janae comforts Tracey as Imoska walks over*
Imoska: Hey everyone.
Tracey: *sadly* Hi Imoska.
Imoska: Did you guys want to hang out at Westfield after school? There’s this girl I met at the bus stop and I want you guys to meet her.
Janae: What’s her name?
Imoska: Jocelyn.
Janae: Snazzy name.
Sabrina: I have a cousin named Jocelyn. She lives on the Central Coast.
Janae: Is she nicer than bitch face Tyra?
Sabrina: Yeah. She’s a thousand times nicer than Tyra.
Tracey: I don’t think Cam’s too happy with your cousin, Sabrina.
Sabrina: I’m still after her for what she did to Brooke. At least she’s stopped ringing me.
Janae: Thank god.
*the bell rings*
Janae: Tracey, stick with us. You need support right now.
Tracey: Thanks. *manages to smile*

In Wollongong Hospital, Tasmine is getting ready to return home.
Tasmine: I can’t wait to have real food. The hospital food tastes like dog poo.
Mrs McCreed: Oh Tasmine.
Tasmine: Trust me, Mum. You don’t want to have hospital food.
Mrs McCreed: I already have.
Tasmine: I forgot you were in hospital having me. *laughs*
Mrs McCreed: Remember to walk slowly.
*Tasmine walks slowly due to the pain in her ribs*
Tasmine: I can’t wait to ride my skateboard again.
Mrs McCreed: You best recover first, young lady.*smiles*
Tasmine: That’s what I intend on doing.
*Tasmine and her mother leave the hospital and go to the car park*
Mrs McCreed: Want me to help you in the car?
Tasmine: Mum, I can do it myself. Slowly, but I can still do it. *smiles*
*Tasmine slowly gets into the front seat of her mother’s car*
Tasmine: See?
Mrs McCreed: Your father and I have certainly taught you well.
Tasmine: I can’t wait to go home.
Mrs McCreed: We’re on our way, love.
*Mrs McCreed drives out of the hospital and off to her house*
(Later that morning, Peter is still steering clear from Tracey and the others. They are currently in English class.)
Tracey: Okay, this is really strange. Peter has been avoiding us all morning.
Janae: Something is definitely up.
Sabrina: I just wish we could figure out what it was so we could help him try and fix it.
Imoska: Let me try.
*Imoska goes over to Peter*
Imoska: Peter?
Peter: Oh, hey Imoska. What’s up?
Imoska: I was wondering if you wanted to meet my new friend Jocelyn Evans at Westfield after school?
Peter: I was going to see Abby, but I might make time. *smiles*
*Peter’s phone goes off*
Peter: Excuse me. *goes outside to answer the phone*
Imoska: He seemed like himself.
Tracey: But why is he avoiding us?
Janae: I bet he’s hiding something from us. I’ll find out what it is eventually.
Sabrina: And how are you going to figure that out?
Janae: Oh, I’ll figure it out. *gives a determined smile*
Tracey: I bet he’s missing Jacob. *looks sad*
*Imoska hugs Tracey*
Imoska: He’ll come back. I just know it.
*Outside, Peter is on the phone to Jacob*
Peter: Look man. They know something’s up.
Jacob: I’ll come home soon. I promise.
Peter: I hope so because this is killing me.
Jacob: You haven’t told them, have you?
Peter: Man, why would I break your promise to me? I haven’t told them.
Jacob: Good. I’ll tell Tracey when the time is right.
Peter: You better because this is killing her.
Jacob: Don’t you think I know that?
Peter: Sorry. Just come home soon.
Jacob: Okay man. I’ll call you later. *hangs up*
*Peter sighs*

After school that afternoon, Imoska heads to Westfield Warrawong to wait for Jocelyn.
Sabrina: Looks like your new friend is late.
Imoska: Well, she did say that she’d be here after school.
Janae: Imoska, it’s quarter past three. You said she’d be here at three on the dot.
Tracey: At least give her time to get here.
Imoska: There she is.
*Jocelyn goes over to where Imoska and the others are sitting in the food court*
Jocelyn: Sorry I’m late. My boring English teacher kept us in two minutes after the siren sounded.
Imoska: It’s cool. Jocelyn, these are my friends Tracey Turner, Janae Taylor and Sabrina Wren.
Jocelyn: Hi girls, I’m Jocelyn Evans. You can call me Jocie if you like.
Tracey: I think we’ll stick with Jocelyn. *smiles*
*Peter arrives*
Peter: Hey ladies.
Jocelyn: Why hello there.
Peter: You must be Jocelyn. I’m Peter Nguyen.
Jocelyn: Nice to meet you, Peter. *shakes Peter’s hand*
*Suddenly, Peter’s phone goes off. It’s Jacob.*
Peter: Excuse me for a sec. Hello?
*As Peter walks away, Janae begins to grow suspicious*
Janae: I’m seriously starting to become suspicious of Peter’s behaviour.
Tracey: Why is that?
Janae: Of all the phone calls he received today, he had to leave to answer them.
Sabrina: So? Maybe it’s personal.
Janae: Sabrina, Peter is NEVER like this. I just know he’s hiding something from us.
Tracey: You don’t think Jacob’s been calling him? No. He would never hide something like that.
Janae: One way to find out. Jocelyn, make yourself at home. I’ll be right back. *walks away*
Jocelyn: So, do you girls follow any sports? *smiles*
(Meanwhile, Peter is talking to Jacob on the phone.)
Peter: Man, can’t you at least call Tracey and let her know you’re okay?
Jacob: I already have, man. Besides, I’ll be home soon enough.
*Peter sees Janae coming*
Peter: Look, call me back. *hangs up*
Janae: Peter, what’s going on?
Peter: Nothing. Why do you ask?
Janae: You have been acting strange all day. It’s as if you’re hiding something from all of us. I thought we told each other everything.
Peter: Nothing for you to worry about, Janae. Now, if you’ll excuse me…
*Janae grabs Peter’s wrist to prevent him from leaving*
Peter: Janae!
Janae: I want to know who’s been ringing you.
Peter: Janae, it’s confidential.
*Janae snatches the phone from Peter and sees the call log*
Janae: Just as I suspected! Jacob’s been calling you, hasn’t he?
*Peter looks embarrassed at having been caught out*
Peter: Well, you see…
Janae: Peter, if you want to be spared a punch in the face, you better tell me where Jacob is!
Peter: I promised him.
Janae: I don’t give a damn if you promised him one million dollars! Tracey is a wreck! WHERE IS HE?!?
*Peter looks sad*
