Summary - The braxton brothers are known for being troublemakers and creating havoc. But how did their lives end up to this?

Chapter One

A young woman made her way out of the hospital in a wheelchair clutching a little white bundle in her arms that contained her baby – her first son. Beside her a tall strapping man stood beaming proudly from ear to ear whilst constantly looking at the life he had created. The young couple looked at each other proudly whilst tears brimmed from the young mother’s eyes after an excruciating 48 hour labour.

”Baby Braxton” She whispered quietly in fear of waking the baby up. As she said this she stroked the child’s cheek whilst breathing in his scent. She brought him closer to her chest as she cradled him whilst the boy’s father wheeled them to the car.

The boy’s father lit up a cigarette whilst outside the car and the mother beckoned him to stand further away as she didn’t want smoke to be inhaled through his lungs. She was pale and tired; her hair was greasy but flowed long past her shoulders and her maternity clothes did nothing for her as most of her baby weight disappeared after the baby was born. She was discharged from the hospital about 8 hours after giving birth and all she did was gaze at her son. The couple hadn’t thought of a name yet. The father finished his cigarette and took a hold of the boy as one single dear rolled down his face. The mother climbed into the car, wincing a little because her stomach was still quite sore from giving birth. Then the father handed the boy to the mother as she cradled him.

The father got into the car and kissed the mother gently on the lips whilst the baby was still asleep. She smiled as tears began to flow out of her eyes and he pulled away wiping her tears away with his hand.

”I love you Cheryl” he said. His voice was normally rough and masculine but with the play on his emotions his voice was unusually croaky as if he was going to cry.

”I love you too David” the woman whispered back. Her voice was meek and she was quietly spoken compared to the way the boy’s father usually acted.

He revved up the car and reversed calmly back ready to drive back to Mangrove River. The house stood waiting and cleaned by with the help of their friends who were all waiting to see the new arrival. The sun shone brightly in the sky reflecting on the happiness of the young couple and how proud they were to have a sun. The car journey itself was quiet as baby Braxton was still sleeping and neither wanted to wake him up as they had already encountered just how hard being a parent could be. Baby Braxton squirmed in his mother’s arms every so often and made soft crying noises but was gently cradled by his mother so quickly fell back asleep. She kissed his forehead every so often and the boy’s father looked over at his new family and every time he did so he smiled.

Their home in Mangrove River looked like it had been a victim of a mad spring break as it was covered in many banners and balloons. Cheryl and Dave rolled their eyes at one another but laughed at how thoughtful their friends were.

”Give it sixteen years and this will be the aftermath of this little ones party” Dave laughed as he held Baby Braxton whilst Cheryl got back into the wheelchair. He placed his son back in her arms and began to wheel her up the path. Baby Braxton awoke; his features from his eyes right down to his feet were tiny. He was a small baby weighing in at 6lbs 2oz but both parents knew that if the boy had the same habits as his father he would definitely be a big tall strapping lad once he grew up.

Dave pushed the front door open and wheeled Cheryl and his son through to find their friends sitting or standing in their living room cheering at the arrival of the new baby. Suddenly from what was a peaceful atmosphere in the car became a noisy experience prompting Baby Braxton to cry. Their female friends laughed and cooed and the new baby arrivals wanting boyfriends or husbands to come over and look at the baby in the hope that they would also get broody. Male friends congratulated Dave but said rather you than me mate. Dave didn’t reply to this but grinned all the same showing how proud he was in his eyes.

”So what’s the baby’s name then?” One of their female friends asked. She had blonde curly hair and wore quite vibrant make-up but had a lovely warm personality.

The young couple looked at one another both beaming. Then they turned around to their friends.

”Darryl” the young mother said. ”Darryl Braxton
