Chapter 11

“Daddy, are you taking me to playschool today?” Ashley asked, holding her Barbie lunchbox.

“Yes, I am,” Jack said.

“Yay! I want to show you my boyfriend,” Ashley smiled.

“Can’t wait to meet the little guy,” Jack said, smiling cheekily at Martha. “Let’s go.”

“Bye Mummy,” Ashley said. She gave Martha and Alison a quick kiss and hurried out with Jack.

***

Martha and Jack were sitting on the sofa, kissing.

“I love you,” Jack said.

“I love you too,” Martha replied.

“Yuck!”

Martha and Jack turned around to see Alison making a face at them.

“What did you just say, missy?” Jack said, raising his eyebrow.

“Yuck!” Alison grinned cheekily. Jack got up off the sofa and Alison started running.

“Come back here,” Jack grinned.

“NO!!!!!”

***

“Thanks for babysitting, Luke,” Martha said. “You’re such a help,”

“No problem, I love the kids,” Lucas smiled, lifting Alison up.

“We’ll be back by 10pm,” said Jack. “They should be in bed by half 8,”

“Okey Dokey,” Alison said, pointing up her thumb.

“Great to hear that,” Martha said. She and Jack gave both the kids a kiss and went out.

“Come here,” Alison said, the minute the door closed. She led him over to a cupboard and opened it. Inside were packets of sweets.

“No,” Lucas said, shaking his head.

“Yes,” Alison insisted, nodding hers.

“No,”

“Yes,”

“No,”

“Pwease?”

“Okay, fine,” Lucas gave in. He gave her and Ashley a packet of jellys to share.

“Thank you!” Alison grinned.

“You cheeky monkey,” Lucas said. Alison poked her tongue out.

***

“Uncle Luke,” said Ashley. “I want to play a game with you.”

“What game do you want to play?” Lucas asked.

“Fairy Princesses!” Ashley said.

“Oh, ok,” Lucas said.

“I’ll go get my things,” Ashley said going upstairs. She came back down a few minutes later with a bag.

“Let’s put on your stuff first,” she said. “Here’s your tiara.”

She placed it on his head.

“Here’s your necklace,”

She put it around his neck.

“Here are your wings,”

She put them on him.

“And here’s your fairy wand!”

She handed it to him. “There you go,”

Lucas got up and looked at himself in the mirror.

“Oh my god…” he muttered…

Chapter 12

Jack and Martha walked through the door and burst out laughing at what was sitting on the sofa.

“What happened to you?!” Jack laughed.

“I got turned into a fairy princess,” Lucas sighed.

“Well, fairy princess, you can go home now,” Martha grinned.

Lucas took off everything but the tiara. As he walked past Jack he took it off and placed it on Jack’s head.

“Here you go,” he grinned.

“Thanks…” Jack said.

“So… Does my fairy princess…prince…” Martha grinned. “…think it’s time for bed?”

“Yeah!” Jack said taking of his tiara and giving Martha’s a neck a quick kiss.

***

“Wake up!!!” Alison said in a sing-song as she jumped on her dad.

Jack opened his eyes to see Martha opening the curtains and a little girl on his stomach.

“You could have stopped her! There’s a reason why it’s called a weekend…” Jack groaned.

“Oh, come on daddy…” Martha grinned, lifting Alison of Jack.

Jack closed his eyes again.

“WAKE UP!!!” Alison yelled into his ear.

“OK! OK!”

***

“Have some orange juice!” Ashley said, pouring some orange into Jack’s cup of tea.

“Oh, why thank you,” Jack said staring into his cup. Martha grinned.

“Mummy…” Alison moaned.

“What babe?” Martha said walking over.

“I’m full,” Alison said.

“OK.” Martha said, lifting her out of her high chair. “You can go play now.”

Alison ran over to her teddy bears. Martha went over to the sink to wash up the dishes. Jack walked over and placed his hands on her hips.

“I’ll do that, you go have a rest,” Jack offered.

“Thanks,” Martha said, giving him a quick kiss.

9 months later…

“Mummy, can you help me please?” Ashley said.

“Not now, Ashley,” Martha said, as she brought baby boy, Darren over to the changing table. Ashley held her head down and went downstairs.

“Daddy, can you help me brush Barbie’s hair please?” Ashley asked.

“Sorry Ashley, I can’t. I have to go help mummy with the baby,” Jack said, kissing the top of her head. Ashley walked back upstairs. She went into hers and Alison’s room and slammed the door shut and sat down in the corner and began to cry.

“What’s wong?” Alison said going over to her big sister, looking shocked.

“Why are you cwying?” Alison said. Alison gave up and gave her sister a hug and walked away.

***

Ashley walked into her mum and dad’s room where Darren was sleeping in his cot.

“I hate you!” she shouted. Darren woke up and started crying.

“Ashley!” Martha said running into the room and lifting up Darren.

“What’s wrong?! Don’t ever do that again!! OK?!”

Ashley started crying and ran into her room and locked it.

***

Jack came home from work.

“Jack! I can’t open the door to Ashley and Alison’s room!” Martha said.

“What?!” Jack said, dropping his bag down quickly and running upstairs.

“I don’t know where the spare keys are and I’m really worried something’s happened,” said Martha.

“How come?” Jack said.

“I gave out to her for waking up Darren,” Martha said, feeling her eyes water up. “This is all my fault…”

“I’ll get the spare keys,” Jack said, opening up the top cabinet of their bathroom shelve. He opened the door and saw both Alison and Ashley having a nap on Ashley’s bed.

“Oh thank god!” Martha said.

“I’ll take these,” Jack muttered as he took the keys to the room.

***

“Ashley, are you ok?” Martha asked, as Ashley came down the stairs after her nap. Ashley nodded rubbing her eyes.

“Come here,” Martha said holding out her arms. Ashley walked into them.

“How about I help you brush barbies’s hair now?” Martha said. Ashley nodded and ran upstairs to get her dolls.
