Here is the next bit: FLETCHER HOUSE Peter looks at Diesel, terrified, holding Pippa tighter. SALLY: Diesel, please... just... don't hurt her, please... DIESEL: So you'll listen to me now? SALLY: Yes! Just don't hurt my child... Diesel, please... DIESEL He takes the gun away from Pippa's head and walks to Sally. He cups her face with his one hand and smiles. You do love me, I know you do. He kisses her and Peter wants to jump forward, but he looks down at Pippa and just closes his eyes, trying not to cry. SALLY: Just... just let Peter and Pippa go, please, Diesel. PETER: I'm not going anywhere without you. They look at each other and Diesel fires a shot into the air. DIESEL: I thought I told you to cut it out! Stop those looks! SALLY: Sorry! I'm sorry Diesel... He looks at her sternly. DIESEL I don't want to hurt you, Sal. Please... listen to me. Just do as I say and then all of you will be fine. THE DINER Ric and Matilda walk in. ALF: How's the happy couple? The party over? RIC: Not really... We left early, it's time to go... we just came to say bye. ALF: Well enjoy the honeymoon, love. RIC: I wouln't call it that... Rather a week long holiday. We'll have the real honeymoon when the baby is here. ALF: Well enjoy it nonetheless! MATTIE: Thanks, Mr Stewart. RIC: Come on, Mattie, we still need to sat bye to Sally and Peter. MATTIE: Well let's go then. They leave for the Fletcher home. FLETCHER HOME. Peter is sitting on the floor in the corner still holding Pippa. Diesel is lying on the couch with Sally next to him, his arm around her. DIESEL: And then I thought... hey, what if she really did love me and she just didn't want to upset people. I mean, you could have lost your job and everything so that would have been bad. So now that I am out of school we can finally be together. I know you have waited for this day for as long as I have. Peter rolls his eyes and Sally looks appaled. There is a knock on the door and Diesel jumps up. DIESEL: What did you do? SALLY: We didn't do anything! DIESEL: Don't move. Don't say a word. RIC: (Through the door.) Sal! It's us! We came to say bye, open up! Diesel walks towards the door. Sally looks at him and then at Peter. In the blink of an eye, she jumps forward, causing Diesel to hit the floor. They struggle for the gun and Sally manages to get it out of Diesel's hands. She throws it on the floor and Peter jumps forward, grabbing it. DIESEL: I didn't want to do this! During the struggle, he punches Sally hard and she rolls over, her eyes closed. Peter stands up pointing the gun at Diesel. There is loud knocking again. RIC: Sal? What's going on? The door is kicked open. Peter looks to his side and Diesel takes this moment to escape. Peter rushes to Sally. PETER: Sal! Sally, look at me... are you okay? She opens her eyes slowly. SALLY: Peter... PETER: Kisses her. Hey... you're okay... SALLY: Where's Pippa? PETER: She's right here... He picks up Pippa, who was settled in the corner, her eyes closed. Sally holds out her arms and Peter hands Pippa to her. Ric and Mattie storm forward. RIC: Are you okay? PETER: Here you go. SALLY: Thanks, Peter. Mattie walks closer and sits down on the couch. MATILDA: How did he even get in here? SALLY: Shakes her head. I have no idea... She takes Peter's hand and he looks at her, frowning. PETER: Maybe you should go to the hospital... just so we can make sure that you're all right. SALLY: No, I'm fine... I just... I don't want to stay here tonight if that's okay... PETER: Yeah, I understand. We can all go to my place... it's small, but... SALLY: Thank you. She kisses him and then looks at Ric and Mattie. SALLY: You two should get going... RIC: Are you sure you're going to be all right? MATTIE: Yeah, we can postpone if you need us here... SALLY: Laughs You go! I'm dating a detective, I'll be okay. RIC: Okay... well, call us if there's anything. SALLY: We will. Thank you for your timing tonight. Ric and Sally hug. She hugs Mattie and Ric and Peter shake hands. RIC: Look after my family, mate. Please. PETER: I will. I promise. SOMEWHERE IN SUMMER BAY. Diesel walks into a dusty room and throws his bag on the ground. Macca comes out of another room. MACCA: What are you doing back here? DIESEL: Ric and Matilda blew it. MACCA: Can't you do anything right? DIESEL: You could have warned me about the detective! MACCA: Him? Oh, please. He's an idiot! DIESEL: An idiot with a badge! He could have arrested me! MACCA: To arrest you, he has to catch you. Anyway, you gave Sally a fright didn't you? DIESEL: She's totally freaked out. MACCA: Good. That stupid hag will learn her lesson for ruining my relationship with Cas. I'm going to get her. DIESEL: I'm going to bed. We can talk in the morning. I hope you're planning to do something other than give me orders. Macca glares at him and he walks out. THE DINER: Cassie and Rocco are sitting at a table. ROCCO: So... do you think Macca wants to get back with you? CASSIE: Probably... but I'm with you now. And that's not something that is going to change. ROCCO: Good... because I don't want that to change... They kiss. CASSIE: We should be getting home... ROCCO: I have an idea... CASSIE: What? ROCCO: Maybe we should give Peter and Sal some space tonight... since Mr Stewart isn't going to be there either... I thought we could... go out for the night. CASSIE: I think that's a great idea...
