Holly in drug mixup

Daily Telegraph

20 July 2006

HOME and Away star Holly Brisley has been caught up in a marijuana scandal after being ejected from celebrity eatery Will and Toby's in Manly on Sydney's northern beaches.

Brisley denies all involvement in the incident, with the actress' management yesterday saying she was an "innocent bystander" and was "wrongfully" thrown out of the restaurant at the same time as another group of people were caught by management smoking marijuana in the female toilets.

"She was not part of the allegations and left at the same time as the accused," the star's agent said in statement yesterday.

"She was walking past at the time," her manager told Confidential yesterday.

Will and Toby's management yesterday confirmed an incident took place two weeks ago at the beachside restaurant, when a patron complained about the smell of marijuana smoke in the ladies' toilets.

The duty manager investigated and a patron was consequently asked to leave - not "a group", as claimed by Brisley's people.

The incident comes as an embarrassment to the star of the marijuana movie The Crop, who lives near the restaurant and has become a regular since it opened earlier this year.

Will and Toby's management is believed to be upset over the incident, as a newspaper reviewer was in the restaurant at the time and this week published details of the ladies' toilet, which "reeks of marijuana".

Brisley, currently on a mid-year break from filming the series, is this week overseas with her husband.

Channel 7 last night refused to comment.
