Chapter 21

1 Month Later.

I found myself sat on the settee in my shorts and vest top. I was sat next to Kit as we make our way through a tub of chocolate ice cream as we sit watching my Friends DVD collection. We looked a state but what the hell, we are pregnant and just want to be comfortable. Kit was now in her last month of pregnancy while I was only in my fourth month but I was getting quite big because of the fact that I am expecting triplets.

"Look at us two, if only people could see us now" Kit says before she takes another spoonful of ice cream.

"Yeah, but oh well, who cares? We are pregnant we have an excuse to be slobs" I say laughing.

"You're right with that one sis, I really can't wait until her or she is born though" Kit says as she rubs her stomach, groaning.

"You OK?" I ask her worriedly.

"Yeah I'm fine sis, it will just be a bit of indegestion from eating too much of this" she says as she puts the ice cream down.

An hour later I make my way upstairs to change so that we could make our way to the Diner, Kit was downstairs waiting for me. To be honest I am kind of worried for her, she has seemed in pain for the last one hour now but she keeps reasuring me that she just is fine and that she has only got indigestion.

"Tilly" I hear her scream out, oh my God that doesn't sound good.

"Kit" I yell, rushing downstairs as fast as I possible could while being careful not to fall. When I get to the bottom of the stairs I see her doubled over by the door. "Oh my God Kit you're in labour aren't you?" I say as I rush over to her and try and support her the best I can.

"Yeah, my waters have broken, I need Kim" she replies.

"You can ring him when we are in the car on the way to the hospital OK?" I tell her as I grab my keys from the sideboard.

Beth's P.O.V

"Beth we need to get to the hospital, Kit's just rang, the baby is on the way" Kim shouts rushing in from the gym as I sit in Noah's Bar with Tony and Lucas.

"Oh my God, is she OK? How's she getting there?" I ask in a panic, hoping to God that she isn't driving herself in her condition.

"Yeah, Mattie's driving, quick, come on!" he says, rushing out the door with myself, Lucas and Tony following in hot pursuit. I am just glad that my youngest daughter is with her sister right now and that she is not going through this on herself, I can't believe my fourth grandchild is on the way.

Matilda's P.O.V

"Kit breath, everythings going to be fine" I say reassuring her as I hold onto her hand as she lays in the hospital bed.

"But Kim isn't here yet, and it hurts" she screams as another contraction hits her.

"He will be here, don't worry" I try to reassure her.

"Baby" I hear Kim say, rushing in the room followed by Mum, Tony and Lucas. I drop her hand as I move out of the way, letting Kim and Mum take my place by her bedside. Overwhelmed by everything that has gone on, I make my way outside quietly and take a seat on the chair outside her room.

"Hey" I hear Luca say as he places a hand on my shoulder.

"Hey" I say softly as I stare off into space.

"You OK honey?" he asks me kneeling down in front of me.

"Yeah, I'm fine just a bit overwhelmed and nervous. Just think, this will be us in 5 months time" I say as I look into his eyes.

"I know baby" he says simply pulling me up and into his arms.

Chapter 22

Three hours later I found myself sat on the chair outside Kit's room leaning into Luca's side, trying to keep myself awake while we sat with Tony, Robbie and Tasha, waiting for Kim or mum to come out with any news on how Kit is doing.

"Go to sleep honey" Luca says, softly stroking my hair.

"No, I can't miss anything" I say as I try to stifle my yawn.

"Go to sleep babe, I'll wake you up if anything happens" he says, lifting my face up so that I am looking into his blue eyes. He kisses me softly before I lay my head back in its resting place on his shoulder, as I feel my eyes start to flutter shut as sleep overcomes me.

"Hey! What are you two doing here?" I hear Tony say. Who's here? I think to myself, still half asleep.

"We thought we should come up to see my sister have the baby and especially after I heard about sleeping beauty here being pregnant with triplets" I hear Scott say and my eyes instantly flutter open.

"Scott, Hayley!" I exclaim, perking up as soon as I see them. I jump out of my seat and rush over to them. "Where's the kids?" I ask them, smiling.

"At Irene's" Hayley says. "Look at you, you're glowing" Hayley says hugging me.

"Thanks" I say, smiling.

"You've certainly got bigger since we last saw you" Scott says.

"That is not the right thing to say" I hear Luca warn him as I shoot daggers at my brother.

"So you just decided to come out here for the birth?" Tasha asks Scott and Hayley as we continue to wait for news.

"Well actually we are back for good" Hayley says smiling.

"Oh my God, that’s great!" I squeal.I'm so happy to have them back, I've missed them.

"How much longer is it going to take?” I whine as I look up at Luca an hour later. He laughs softly at my impatience.

"Just think about when it’s our turn honey, you got to get three babies out" he says looking down at me as he smiles.

"Don't remind me" I say sighing as I rub my eyes, just wanting my niece or nephew to join us. As if on cue I hear screams from Kit’s room followed by crying. I jump out of my seat and rush over to the door trying to take a peek. "I'm an aunt" I squeal excitedly to myself.

"Jeez yes you are sis, now sit back down, Mum and Kim will be out in a minute" Robbie tells me as everyone laughs.

"Mum, Mum what is it?" I say, running over to her when she emerges minutes later from my older sister’s room.

"It’s a girl" she tells me, smiling.

"I have another niece" I say happily, throwing my arms around my Mum. "When can we see her?" I ask.

"How long has she been like this?" Mum asks.

"Since we got here" Luca groans. I turn around to face Luca so that I can give him the evil eye.

"Well when can we see them?" I ask as I turn back around to face my Mum.

"In a minute Matilda, give them a minute first" Mum tells me, laughing softly.

Chapter 23

Ten minutes after Mum had come out of Kit's room, we eventually get the all clear to go in and visit her and my new niece. I waste no time in rushing to the door with Lucas, Mum and the others close behind me.

"Hey! Congratulations!" I say happily as I enter the room. I hug Kim as I pass him before making my way over to my sister who is holding my baby niece in a pink blanket. "Oh sis she's beautiful" I say, looking down at my niece in her arms. She was tiny, she had a few locks of blonde hair just like her Dad while she had Kit's eyes and nose.

"Thanks sis, do you want to hold her?" Kit says, she knows me so well.

"Of course" I say as I take her in my arms, as Luca walks up behind me.

"So what have you called her?" I hear Robbie ask as I continue to stare lovingly at the sleeping angel in my arms.

"Lily Matilda" Kit says looking up at me.

"You named her after me?!" I say smiling, delighted that they had chose to have Matilda as her middle name.

"Yeah, you were there for me Matilda and you kept me from panicking" Kit says.

"Thanks" I say as I hand Lily to my Mum.

"I can't believe she named her after me Luca!" I say as we drive home from the hospital an hour later.

"I know, it was really sweet of them. But she's right you know, you were there for her when she needed you" Luca says as he takes his left hand from the wheel as he places it over my own.

"She was gorgeous wasn't she?" I say smiling to myself as I think of Lily.

"Yeah, she was just like her auntie" Luca says as he continues to concentrate on the road.

"You don't need to sweet talk me you know, I'm already yours" I say giggling.

"Nothing wrong with telling your wife the truth" he replies.

"Makes you think doesn't it, what our kids are going to look like" I say moments later, as I try to form mental images in my head.

"Yeah it does, they are going to look just like their Mum" he says, as he pulls up the driveway to our house.

"I hope they have your eyes, you have beautiful eyes" I say looking at him as he stops the car and turns to face me.

"Well you have beautiful eyes yourself babe" he tells me as he moves closer to me and our lips touch. As the kiss is intensifying he pulls back.

"Whats wrong?" I ask him.

"Nothing, I was just thinking we should take it inside" he says, winking at me as he jumps out the car.

"Luca" I say during the night, "I can't sleep."

"What's wrong baby? Is everything OK?" he asks, waking up in a panic. I feel kind of guilty now, he's going to be quite annoyed when I tell him why I woke him up.

"Umm...yeah, it doesn't matter honey" I say as I lie back down, not wanting to explain to him why I woke up.

"No, what is it honey? Tell me please" he pleads with me as he leans over me so that he can face me.

"Umm...promise not to be mad?" I say as I pull my best puppy-dog expression.

"I promise babe, what is it?" he says as he smiles down at me.

"I'm hungry" I start. He looks down at me in disbelief that I woke him up to tell him that I'm hungry.

"Well, why don't you go make something?" he asks me softly. I can tell that he's trying to stay calm.

"But I want chocolate cake, and you make the best chocolate cake baby" I say pleading with him as I pull my cutest expression.

"Urgh...the things that I do to please my wife" he says as he leans down to kiss me softly before climbing out of bed. He walks over to my side and helps me up before leading me downstairs.

Chapter 24

"So Mattie what did you want to speak to us about?" Mum says as her and Tony walk into the house and join me and Lucas in the kitchen.

"Well Mum, I thought that we could throw a suprise welcome home party for Hayley, Scott and the kids, as well as being a bit of a celebration for Kit, Kim and my darling niece" I say, smiling happily to myself, hoping that she liked my idea.

"That sounds like a great idea sweetie" Mum says, smiling happily as she takes a piece of toast off the plate on the table.

"Well we best get planning it then haven't we?" I say excitedly.

"Women!" Luca says rolling his eyes.

"Tell me about it!" Tony groans throwing his head back, as me and Mum both stare at them, unimpressed at their wit.

Later that day, I stood with Cassie and Ric at Mum's house as we waited with the rest of our family and friends from the Bay for the arrival of Hayley, Scott, Noah, Jess, Kit, Kim and Lily. Mum had told Scott that she needed him, Hayley and the kids to pick up Kit and Kim from the hospital, he had totally fallen for it.

"Here's your orange babe" Luca said as he walked over to me and handed me my glass.

"Thanks" I say before I take a sip.

"I bet you can't wait until the babies are out so you can have a proper drink huh?" Cassie says.

"Tell me about it, still got a while to go though yet" I say as I rub my stomach.

"She enjoys being pregnant anyway, gives her the excuse to go waking me up in the middle of the night because she wants me to make her a bloody cake" Luca says as he rests his hands on my shoulder.

"You didn't do it did you?" Ric says laughing.

"Of course he did, he's a gent. Unlike you" Cassie says, mocking Ric.

"They're coming, shhh!" Robbie says from the door as he shuts the lights out. The room suddenly becomes quiet as we anxiously await their arrival, hoping to catch them suprised.

"Suprise!" everyone yells moments later as they enter the room.

"Oh my God! Thankyou so much" Hayley and Kit both say. I make my way over to the door.

"Thanks sis" Kit says, handing Lily to Kim before she hugs me.

"All my idea" I laugh as I smile warmly at my family. "Now, let me see my favourite nephew and nieces" I say as I hold my arms out when I see Noah run towards me.

"Careful Noah, remember I told you auntie Mattie can't pick you up anymore" Scott says stopping him in his tracks. He looks like hes about to cry.

"Don't cry Noah, uncle Luca will hold you, won't you Luca?" I say as Luca walks up behind me.

"Yeah, come here" he says picking Noah up in his arms,. "Your Auntie Mattie is pregnant just like your Mummy was and Auntie Kit, so she can't pick you up until after the babies are born" Luca explains to him as his lip quivers.

Hours later, when the party is in full swing, I make my way out the front door and sit down on the bench at the front of the house.

"Can I join the party?" I hear the familiar voice say after a few minutes. I look up and fury rushes through me.

"What are you doing here!" I say, glaring at her. She had some nerve showing her face here.

Chapter 25

"I said, what are you doing here?!" I yell, glaring at her as she fails to respond to me the first time. I can't believe she had the nerve to come after what she has done to this family, Scott, Kit and robbing Grandad for everything he owned - I could never forgive her for what she had done.

"Well sweetie it is a party isn't it?" she says, smiling sweetly at me, making me feel sick to my stomach.

"Yes and you are not invited Amanda" I tell her as I feel two hands grip hold of my shoulders.

"Babe don't let her get to you, you have to stay calm for the babies" Luca says as he wraps his arms around my shoulders pulling me closer to his chest. "Amanda you are not invited this is a private party" he tells her.

"Oh congratulations sweetie, I thought you were just fat" Amanda says, grinning at me.

"Oh no you didn't just say that" I scream as I try to get out of Luca's arms, but he held me back.

"Babe she isn't worth it, come on" Luca says as he tries to keep hold of me. "Amanda leave" he yells at her, directing her down the drive.

"What's going on?" I hear Mum say. I don't think she has seen our unexpected guest yet. "Amanda!" she exclaims when she spots her standing infront of us.

"Well hello Beth, just wanted to say congratulations Grandma" she says smiling.

"Thank you Amanda but you aren't invited, so leave please" Mum simply says. She looks at me and Luca and nods toward the front door for us to go back inside.

"What was all that about?" Kit asks me as she comes and joins me were I was sat at the table with Luca as he rubbed my back softly hoping to calm me down.

"That bitch" I mutter trying not to cause a scene, Kit looks at me strangely.

"Amanda showed up outside, Mum just got rid of her" Luca answers for me as he continues to rub my back, tracing small circles with his finger.

"She has some nerve showing up, after all she has done to this family" I say moments later.

"Well thats just the type of person she is. Trust me she, isn't worth it Mattie, don't let her get to you like I did" Kit says reaching out for my hand across the table as she refers back to when Amanda's meddling with Scott got her back on the bottle and into Rehab.

"Come on we have a party to enjoy, lets not let her spoil it" Luca says as he looks at me lovingly.

"You're right we can't let her win" I say taking Luca's hand as he helps me up.

Chapter 26

"I can't believe she had the nerve to show up yesterday, after all she’s done to my family" I say to Cassie the next day as we sat on the beach while Lucas and Ric surfed. I was so annoyed at Amanda's appearance last night at the party that I hardly slept. After all she had done to this family she just shows up three years later at our family party. Who does she think she is?

"Tell me about it, but you know what Amanda's like Mattie, she’s a leach and she doesn't care about anyone but herself" Cassie says as she lays back down on her towel, as we enjoy the sunshine.

"Yeah, I know her too well Cass, she just winds me up something rotten you know" I say sighing as I sit up and take a sip of my water.

"Yeah, I know Mattie and the whole town feels the same way as you do" Cassie tells me.

"Well, if she thinks she can get away with what she did then she’s wrong" I huff. “She’s not going to get away with hurting my family.

Meanwhile at the Beach House Beth and Scott were deep in conversation at the table.

"Scott, if you think she can get away with what she did to you and to my father, think again. I am not letting her get away with this Scott. Your youngest sister is pregnant with triplets, her showing up here and speaking to her how she did could do your sister and the babies a lot of harm. I will not have her get away with what she has done to this family" Beth says her voice raising as her anger rises.

"I know Mum, but don't do anything stupid" Scott says once again being the voice of reason and not wanting his Mum to do anything stupid. "If we retaliate she is more likely to do stay around" Scott adds as he rests his hand on his Mum’s shoulder, trying to calm her down.

"Mattie how about we go to the Diner?" I hear Cassie say as I try to stay awake as we lay in the sun.

"Yeah sure, I’m getting kinda hungry" I laugh as I sit up. We get changed and pick up our bags and towels and walk to the waters edge as we signal for Lucas and Ric to come over to us.

"We’re going to the Diner for lunch, we’ll see you both later" I say as they reach us.

"OK cool, I love you" Luca says as he leans into kiss me softly. I kiss him back but pull away quickly, not wanting to get my clothes wet. Luca laughs, knowing why I pulled back - it was always what me and Cassie did after they had been for a surf.

"See you boys!" Cassie and I say in unison as we walk away from them.

An hour later and me and Cassie were still sat in the Dinner as we enjoyed our chocolate sundaes. It would be more than likely we would stay in here enjoying ourselves until the boys came to get us once they had finished their surf. We could spend hours in here gossiping as we tucked into milkshakes or ice cream, nothing had changed in the past four years since we first became friends.

"Well, well, well Mrs Holden" I hear the familiar voice say to me. I know instantly that it is her.

"What do you want Amanda?" I say from my seat as she approaches us.

"Well we are not at your mothers house anymore sweetie, I can come in here whenever I want" she says playing her ‘little miss innocent’ act as she makes me feel sick to the stomach.

"Yeah, well I doubt many people would want you around here Amanda" I say angrily as I stand up.

"Mattie" I hear Cassie warn.

"Yes Matilda sweetie, I'd listen to your friend if I was you" Amanda says smiling at me. That was it. I couldn't take it anymore. I feel myself reach out for my milkshake and the next thing I know I chuck it at her and watch as it drips down her face and designer dress.

"Ughh! My dress! Do you know how much that cost?" she screeches.

"Yeah I do and its all paid for by my Grandad!" I scream at her as Irene and Leah approach.

"Irene, have you seen what she did? I think she should leave" Amanda says.

"No Amanda, Matilda is welcome here you’re not" Leah said. Did Amanda really think that Leah would stick up for me after the trouble she caused between her and Dan? If so, she’s stupider than I thought.

"In fact Mattie got there before I did, now get out" Irene says as she grabs hold of Amanda's arm and escorts her out the door.

Chapter 27

After the events of this afternoon Cassie and I headed back to my house, knowing that I needed to calm down and I also felt kind of embarrassed at the fact that I had let her get to me like that. But hey, she deserved it. She got what was coming to her, it should’ve been done a hell of a lot earlier if you ask me.

"I really can't believe you did that" Cassie says smiling at me as we relax on the settee.

"I know, I don't know what came over me, although I am really glad that I did it!" I laugh.

"It was classic Mattie, the look on her face was priceless" Cassie says grinning widely.

"Oh my God Mattie! Are you OK? we heard what happened" Luca yells as the front door flies open.

"Yes Luca I'm fine I just got a bit carried away and threw my milkshake at her" I said smiling.

"Go Mattie! She deserved it after what she’s done" Ric says as he walks over to me, and hugs me. I have a feeling Luca won't react the same way.

"Mattie really, yes she deserves it but you need to control yourself. You’ve got to stay calm for the babies’ sake" Luca says as he sits down next to me. His concern for me is sweet, but what does he want me to do? Stay in bed until the babies are born?

"Yes Luca but I am fine and at no point was I in danger of anything happening to me. Amanda deserved everything she got" I tell him smugly.

"Yes Matilda but you need to keep your stress level down" he says calmly, obviously not wanting me to get wound up.

"OK, OK, geez just drop it" I say standing up I make my way past Cassie and Ric and head upstaits.

"I'll go speak to her" I hear Cassie tell Luca as I reach my room and slam the door shut.

Lucas P.O.V

An hour later I sat in the lounge debating my actions in my head. Maybe I overreacted but I just want her and the babies to be OK. I know that with it being a multiple birth she is more likely to have problems in the pregnancy. I just want her to stay as calm as possible so that nothing bad will happen. I know she is mad at me right now and decided that it was probably best if I head upstairs and apologise for overreacting about the situation. It was unlikely that in her condition she would make the first move.

"Luca" I hear her yell. Oh God! What’s wrong? I jump up and run upstairs. I didn’t think my legs could have carried me as fast as they did.

"Mattie" I say panicked as I open the door to the bedroom, hoping that I would not find anything that I didn't want to see.

I find her tossing and turning in bed – she’s dreaming. I better wake her up, it seems pretty intense.

"Mattie honey, wake up, its just a dream" I say pulling her to me as I sit on the edge of the bed.

"Luca" she mumbles opening her eyes, tears streaming down them.

"Shh it was only a dream, you’re OK. I'm sorry for overreacting before" I say as I hold her closely.

"I'm sorry too Luca, you’re only worried about me. I should try and keep my emotions under wraps" she stutters through her tears. I take my hand to her face wiping away her tears slowly as I rock her back and forth.

Chapter 28

The next afternoon I sat in Noah's Bar drinking my water as I read my maternity magazines. I just needed to get out of the house. It was so quiet with Lucas being at University, oh well he will be back soon, with Cassie and Ric.

"Hey Mattie" I hear Tasha says as she sits down next to me.

"Hey Tash" I say as I put my magazine down on the chair.

"You looked like you could do with some company" Tasha says to me as she places her glass down on the table.

"Yeah, I'm so bored so just been reading the maternity and parenting magazines all day. I could do with a break" I say sighing before I take a sip of my water.

"I know what you mean but get all the rest and relaxation in while you can, you wont get any of it when the babies arrive" Tasha laughs.

"I know, God help me, three at once its going to be so tough, and I’m not just talking about the labour, I don't know how we are going to cope" I sigh.

"I'm sure you'll manage and you can always bring them round to their auntie Tasha's if you and Luca need a break" she says softly as she puts her hand on my shoulder reassuringly.

"Well, well, well, reading up on being a Mum are we?" I hear Amanda say as she approaches my table outside the surf club where I was sat in the shade as I waited for Lucas, Ric and Cassie an hour later. I put my magazines down and look up at her.

"Yes I am Amanda. Some of us want to be good mothers, unlike you" I say trying to keep myself calm. I pick my magazines back up and start to read them again, trying my best to ignore her.

"Well you do need to read up on them don't you? After all, Beth wasn't exactly a good role model arguing with her father and accusing his wife instead of being happy for him. She stressed him out so much that he had a heart attack" she says. Oh she really didn't just say that, stay calm Mattie she's just trying to get to you.

"Cat got your tongue Matilda?" she says as I ignore her taunting.

"Amanda, please just leave you are not worth a moment of my time" I say trying to stay calm like Lucas had told me to do, but inside I was burning with fury.

"Oh sweetie but I am, and I'm not going to leave you alone, not after what you did yesterday" she tells me, as she picks up my water off the table.

"What do you think you are doing?" I say. But before I can say another word I find myself soaked in water. That was it, I had had it with her. I stood up opposite her.

"You didn't just do that" I scream at her,

"Oh yes I did sweetie" she says laughing at me. "Might need to go get a towel off Mummy and dry off" she adds. Ughh, she is really pushing it this time.

"It’s only water won't do any harm. Did the milkshake come off?" I say spitefully fighting back at her own game, she wasn't going to beat Matilda Hunter.

"You little cow!" she screams I watch as her arms come out and she pushes me back.

"Mattie" I hear Luca cry out as I fall to the floor.

Chapter 29

Lucas P.O.V

I pull up at the Surf Club with Ric and Cassie and as I get out the car I can see Amanda and Matilda. oh no not again.

"You little cow!" I hear Amanda yell at Matilda. As I move closer towards them I watch in horror as she pushes Matilda knocking her to the floor.

"Mattie!" I yell rushing over to her, Ric and Cassie not far behind me. I kneel down beside her. "Baby, you OK?" I ask her as I watch in horror as she clutches her stomach.

"Get away from her you bitch. Who do you think you pushing her? She’s pregnant for God’s sake" I hear Cassie yell at Amanda, as I hold Mattie in my arms.

"Baby you OK?" I ask Matilda again as tears run down her face. "Baby talk to me" I say as I rock her back and forth in my arms.

"I'm scared Luca, what if she’s hurt our babies?" she finally mutters as tears fall uncontrollably from her eyes.

"I know honey, we will get you to the hospital and I’ll look after you I promise" I tell her as I watch Robbie run over.

"You OK sis?" he asks as he kneels down beside us and takes her hand. She nods her head as she continues to cry in my arms. "What happened?" he asks me.

"They were arguing and Amanda pushed her" I say, angered that Amanda had done such a thing to my wife. She was pregnant with triplets for God’s sake, what kind of person would do that?

Matilda's P.O.V

I walk steadily into the hospital still crying, whilst being supported by Luca and Robbie at either side of me. I continue to clutch my stomach, hoping that my babies are OK.

"Flynn? Flynn, help please" I hear Luca say as he spots Flynn stood at reception.

"What’s wrong?" he asks as he makes his way over to us.

"Amanda pushed her. Can you make sure her and the babies are OK please?" Luca pleads with him.

"Of course, this way" he says.

"I'll ring mum" Robbie says as me and Luca follow Flynn inside the room.

Fifteen minutes later I am still lay on the examination table as Flynn continues to run various tests to make sure the baby is OK.

"Is everything OK Flynn?" I say speaking for the first time since we arrived at the hospital.

"It’s not clear yet, we are going to have to get you in for an ultrasound to make sure" he tells me. Luca squeezes my hand softly as tears fall down my face. I don't know what I will do if anything is wrong with them, please let our babies be OK

Beth's P.O.V

"If anything has happened to Matilda or the babies I swear I’ll kill you" I scream at Amanda as Tony holds me back. Robbie had just rang me to tell me to get to the hospital, she had no right touching my daughter and I swear she wasn't going to get away with it.

"Come on Beth lets get to the hospital" Tony tells me taking my hand as he pulls me away from Amanda and over to the car.

Chapter 30

Lucas P.O.V

I hold her hand softly in my own as the technician rubs the gel over Matilda's stomach. She still had tears falling from her eyes, she was so frightened I could tell. I felt exactly the same but I had to be strong for her sake, she needed me now more than ever. I turned my head to the screen as the technician moved the wand over Matilda’s stomach and watched as our babies appeared in front of us. Words could not describe how I felt right now as I watched our babies on screen and listened to the small sound of their heartbeats.

"Are they OK?" I hear Matilda's frightened voice ask.

"Yes, they appear to be fine, from what I can see they have a healthy heartbeat and nothing looks wrong" the technician tells us. It feels like a huge weight has just been lifted off my shoulder and I squeeze Matilda’s hand gently as I turn to face her.

"When can we take Matilda home?" I ask Flynn, who was stood in the corner of the room.

"Well now that everything is OK I can discharge her now but I'd get her straight home to bed, its been a long day and you need to rest and calm down Matilda" Flynn said as he put his notes down.

"Thanks Flynn" I said as I helped Matilda down from the bed.

Matilda's P.O.V

Lucas takes my hand and helps me down from the bed as Flynn leaves the room. He leans towards me and kisses me softly while rubbing my back soothingly.

"Where is she? Is she OK?" I hear Mum shout, presumably to Flynn. I pull away from Luca and take his hand as we make our way out of the room.

"Baby are you OK?" Mum asks, running over and embracing me as she sees me emerge from the room. Luca lets go and walks over to his Dad, who takes him in his arms. I know how hard it was for him and he tried to stay strong for me throughout but I could tell how worried he was about the babies and me. I was glad to see him let it all out rather than keep his emotions inside him.

"We are OK Mum, the babies and me are both fine" I tell her leaning my head on her shoulder. It felt good to be in my Mum’s arms. I could feel her breath a sigh of relief as she held me. I can imagine what she was going through as her and Tony made their way to the hospital not knowing whether her daughter and grandchildren would be OK. I went through the same thing myself. Not knowing whether everything would be OK was such an awful experience that I never wanted to go through again. I am just glad I had Luca with me.

Half an hour later, I made my way upstairs as me and Luca arrived home. I undressed and changed into my nightie. It had been a long day, and I was emotionally drained, I just wanted to get in bed and go to sleep even though it was only seven o'clock. I got into bed and shut my eyes, moments later I felt Luca get into bed beside me and wrap his arms around me.

"I am so glad that you are OK Mattie, I don't know what I would have done if anything had happened to you and the babies. I was so frightened that we could have lost our babies, I never want to feel that way again ever" he whispers softly I turn over so that I am now facing him and watch as the tears fall from his eyes.

"Oh Luca, I was so scared. I'm so sorry its all my fault" I say as the tears form in my eyes as I watch him cry.

"How’s it your fault baby? Amanda pushed you. She was in the wrong, it isn't your fault" he tells me pulling me closer to him as we both cry in each others arms.

"I started it honey. If I hadn't poured the milkshake over her yesterday then it wouldn't of happened" I cry into his chest.

"She would of wound you up anyway Mattie, it isn't your fault. All that matters is that you and the babies are OK" he whispers softly as he strokes my hair softly.
