I have just read Irene's Bio and this below was in it, so there must have been a very bad past between them both: Irene had an arch enemy - Diana Fraser, James and Lachie's mother. The pair always feuded whether it's over Chloe, Olivia or not. There was a party on in Irene's house when Irene had a knife in her hand - she was to cut a cake. She was waving it while arguing, and Diana accused her of threatening her with a knife. However, Irene managed to get free from jail - when a drunken Diana arrived on her porch, she managed to persuade her to drop the charges.. When Lachie got the brain tumour she completely took over, excluding Chloe and eventually getting him private treatment in America to split them up. She basically manipulated and schemed and was a total bitch. NB. After his operation for the brain tumour Lachie couldn't remember who Chloe was and that was the end of their relationship. ste Posted December 28, 2005 Report Share Posted December 28, 2005 You are all wrong on one little point. Diana tried to get James and Chloe together, not keep them apart. It started with Chloe and Lachie. Diana didn't like Chloe because she wasn't good enough for her son and tried to keep them apart but failed. They got married and Chloe had Lachie's daughter - Olivia. Then Lachie had the brain tumour and left. Then Chloe and James got close, but Chloe was still in love with Lachie. However Diana was obsessed with Olivia because she was Lachie's (her favourite son). So she forced Chloe and James to get together so she could have easy access to Olivia. She was always setting them up and pushing them together, and it worked and they got married even though we (the audience) could see that Chloe's heart wasn't really in it. Chloe and Diana never liked each other but Diana often pretended to be nice to Chloe to get her to marry James. After the wedding the truth came out that Chloe wasn't really in love with James the way she was with Lachie, and James realised that it had all been the work of his mother and her selfish motive to keep in touch with Olivia. He had a huge go at her and she drove off in tears, crashing her car. In the hospital Diana who was going a bit insane with evilness at this point refused to accept any responsibility for ruining James' life as Chloe left town telling Diana she would never see Olivia again. Diana turned up at Irene's house one day claiming that Summer Bay had killed Lachie and that she would be back one day to get her revenge. Diana turned up again a few months later when Summer Bay House went up for sale. She wanted to develop it (yawn), but the residents pulled all their money together and out-bid her. A fact that was so overlooked in yesterdays episode when they kept saying that Diana was Olivia's only living relative.
