Extended Summary

Bree runs into Harper near the beach and comments on her being on her own. Harper says Tane has Archie and she’s waiting for Dana, and clearly isn’t looking forward to the conversation. Dana interrupts and Harper quickly covers as Bree leaves, babbling about how Bree missed out on their night together through work and how it’s them against the world. Dana is slightly bemused as they head off for lunch. At the Morgan house, Justin tries to quiz Sonny as he tries to get away. Sonny refuses to tell him what he and Leah spoke about yesterday and says he didn’t give Leah the idea of going to the Coastal News before heading off to find Remi.

Remi and Eden are showing Eddie round the back of the studio while Eden extols the virtues. Eddie asks to see the studio. Remi starts to explain but Eden interrupt, asking Eddie how long he’s been a professional artist. Eddie says he still has a day job, as a high school music teacher, and he didn’t like letting his students down to come there. He asks how many musicians there are on the books and Eden says there’s her. Remi says Eden hasn’t heard Eddie play and gives him a guitar.

At Salt, Dana senses Harper has something on her mind. Harper says she was hoping to enjoy brunch first but explains that she’s got hold of their mum’s number and is thinking of reaching out. Dana is annoyed that she’s told her when she said to leave her out of it, saying she doesn’t want to know and doesn’t want any brunch either, walking out.

At the Diner, Sonny is buying an emergency box of goodies from Marilyn. Bree comes in and Sonny says he’s trying to stop a dire situation getting worse. Dana also arrives and wonders why Sonny isn’t with Remi. Sonny says it’s too complicated to explain. Dana asks to chat later and Sonny agrees if Remi doesn’t strangle him first. He grabs some flowers on the way out. Bree wonders what happened to Dana’s brunch.

Eddie is playing and singing while Remi and Eden listen on appreciatively. Sonny arrives as he’s finishing, blaming his late arrival on the traffic and admitting they’re too late for the boat. He tells Eddie how Kirby is at number four in Denmark with an album Remi produced. Remi asks Eddie if he wants to sign. Eddie is surprised that they’re there already. Remi awkwardly says they’ll talk details later.

At the surf club, Alf and Justin discuss Leah’s doings. Justin thinks he should have gone after her and wonders why she spoke to Sonny rather than him. Alf says yelling at the paper might make her feel better but Justin is worried that she’s expecting a retraction. They pass Harper as Alf says that sometimes you have to follow your gut and asks what the worst that could happen is. Clearly hearing, Harper types “Hi Mum” on her phone. Alf and Justin walk to a park area. Justin notes he thought Leah was getting better but David thinks she’s getting worse. Alf points out that David isn’t exactly unbiased and is looking out for his family. Justin tells him about David wanting to take out an AVO and Lacey stopping him.

Dana has filled Bree in on the situation. Bree notes she can’t comment specifically but knows how hard it is to get out of a bad situation and tells her not to do something that doesn’t feel right. Marilyn comes over to collect cups as Dana is saying Harper’s got the details. Marilyn asked if this is “Grandma Matheson”, saying she knows Harper thought Archie was missing out and it’s a special bond. Dana says she has to go. At the Parata house, Harper is staring at her phone. Dana turns up and says Harper can’t contact their mother. Harper asks what happened to agreeing to disagree. Dana insists they can’t let her into their or Archie’s lives. Harper say she’s already reached out.

Eddie is impressed to hear that Remi was the featured artist on Avalon’s album. Remi diplomatically describes her as talented. Sonny says Kirby’s making headway in the US and Eden says she’s happy there but it’s too much for Remi, who says Kirby isn’t making headway in the US and Eden isn’t signed to the label, going on to add that Eddie would be the first artist signed to the label and the recording equipment doesn’t arrive for two weeks. He says he’s new to running a recording studio but is a producer. Eddie feels like he’s been taken for a ride and leaves.

Sonny follows Eddie round the front and says he went too far but Remi’s a straight-up guy. Eddie accepts the apology but isn’t prepared to come back. Sonny says Remi saw talent in him and is willing to go to bat for him. Eddie admits he thought Remi understood him and Sonny suggests it’s an honour that Remi wants to launch the business with him.

Dana is horrified at what Harper has done. Harper thinks she’s catastrophising while Dana thinks Harper is being naive. Harper gets a reply but hesitates for a long time before opening it. When she does, it simply says “What do you want?” At Salt, Remi, Eden and Sonny are having a celebratory drink to mark Eddie signing with them. Eden says she has to go to Cash, reminding them she’s domesticated now. Remi asks about the hold-up and Sonny admits he told Leah to call him whenever she wanted.

Justin has set the table and is preparing a meal. Back at Salt, Sonny congratulates Remi on getting what he wanted. Remi wishes Eddie could have joined them. Sonny gets a phone call and tells Remi he has to go: Leah has been arrested for causing a disturbance at the Coastal News. Remi wondered why they called him and Sonny suggests they couldn’t get hold of Justin.

Harper is packing her bags while Dana continues to complain about Kerrie’s responses, where she said it wasn’t a good time to call, gave a simple “Thanks” in response to the condolences about their father, and simpy said “If you want” about Harper coming. Harper asks for some privacy so she can tell Tane to keep Archie, saying she needs to know if Kerrie has changed and if she’s safe to be around Archie.

Remi is still in Salt when Justin turns up looking for a bottle of wine. Remi says Sonny’s already left and wonders why Justin isn’t at the police station, explaining about Leah being arrested. This is news to Justin, who rushes out.
