Extended Summary

Sonny is walking through a park at night looking glum. Someone playfully sneaks up on him until Dana jumps on his back. Sonny greets her in a friendly but subdued manner, noting he knew it was her because she stomps like a baby elephant. Dana says she was already in the middle of a shift when she heard about Theo’s memorial. Sonny says it was good to hear stories about him but tells her about Justin and Remi pulling out of the record label idea. They head back to the flat where they comment on how it’s understandable but the label was doing Remi good. Dana notices Lacey’s note and discovers she’s moved out.

Next morning, Harper collects Archie from Tane at the surf club, since he’s meant to be meeting Jo. Jo turns up and worries that Tane and Harper have plans together but Harper quickly makes herself scarce and Tane invites Jo upstairs. At the bar, Remi gets a text saying the tech equipment he ordered is on the way. He runs into Tane and Jo, who express sympathy about Theo and give him an update on Lacey. Tane and Jo settle in the booth. Jo tells Tane about Wendell going to court and says she just wants to switch her brain off. Tane offers to bore her with a lecture on calf muscles.

At the Diner flat, Dana chats to Lacey on the phone, assuring her they’re still friends. Sonny arrives with a coffee for her. He is still preoccupied with Remi and is determined to get him to change his mind. He meets with Remi outside the surf club but Remi shuts down any talk of continuing with the record label. Sonny says music has always lifted Remi up and without it he’s a loser. Remi asks to enjoy his coffee in peace but Sonny takes it from him and throws it away. Remi agrees to listen to him if he buys him another coffee, with his own money.

Remi and Sonny retire to Salt where Sonny talks about all the effort Remi’s put in and the fact it helped him get over Bree. He eventually hits on something that makes Remi think: Helping musicians get a start is a good way of paying tribute to Theo. Meanwhile, Tane is finishing off a class by the beach. Jo approaches. Tane notes that they deliberately didn’t talk about anything important before but he’s there if she needs to.

Harper brings Archie to the Diner flat. Dana is about to leave for a patrol. Harper says she was just there to give her and Sonny a present to thank them for looking after her: A bottle of champagne. Dana says Sonny will appreciate the joke and the free alcohol and it’s better than a bear. Harper protests that Archie loves Patch like part of the family. Dana complains that they’re all the family Archie needs.

Jo and Tane walk on the beach. Jo talks about how everything with Wendell is making her miss her mum more. She jokes about playing his voicemail for a laugh but also indicates she’d like him to call her again. She wonders about Harper being fine with them meeting up and Tane says they’re genuinely friends now. Jo gets a text inviting her to visit her mother’s grave with David and Lacey and notes it’d be the first time they’ve been there together since the funeral. Tane notes she seems to be over the panic attacks now. Jo kisses him for the second time and suggests there might be a third, before leaving to meet her family.

Alf arrives at the Diner and tells Marilyn that the bait shop’s quiet. Marilyn has just been chatting to Jett on the phone and notes he’s doing well. Harper arrives with Archie. She gets a work phone call that she has to take and ends up passing him to a slightly bewildered Alf to look after. As she finishes the call, she hears Marilyn noting that Alf looks like his grandad.

At the surf club, Sonny tries to convince Remi they can set up themselves but agrees to hire people when he hears it involves soundproofing, decorating and replacing equipment. They run into Dana and tell her that the record label’s back on. Sonny convinces Remi to come to his to do the planning since Bree’s in the city with the medical board, despite Remi protesting he’s meant to be Sonny’s boss.

Harper chats to Alf and Marilyn with Alf noting he missed out a bit with his grandkids but he’s got to know Ryder now he’s older, recalling meeting him when his ship was in port. Marilyn suggests using them as babysitters. Harper goes to the surf club to see Dana, recalling her comment earlier about them being the only family Archie has. She says that Archie doesn’t have any grandparents on Tane’s side, just their parents, and wonders if she should track them down and see if they’ve changed. Dana flatly rejects the idea, calling it the dumbest conversation they’ve ever had.

Tane meets with Harper and Archie at Salt. Harper tells him that she’s considering contacting her parents and argued with Dana about it. Tane notes Harper hasn’t said much about them, just that they weren’t coming to the wedding. Harper admits it’s complicated. Tane agrees in principle that more family is better but wonders why Dana’s against the idea.

Remi and Sonny are going over plans for the breakout room near the studio. He gets a text that the sound tech is on the way and they prepare to head over there. Dana turns up complaining about Harper and Remi says he’ll meet Sonny in the car. Sonny has a minute before he has to go and manages to get that Harper is inviting toxic people back into their life to give Archie grandparents. Dana says she has to stop her or it’ll be a disaster. Sonny advises her to be calm and rational.
