David hunts for a wanted man. Justin confides in Bree. Jo gets a kick out of watching Tane squirm.
Extended Summary
Bree and Jo meet up near the beach. Both have just finished a night shift. Bree says she’s going to work on her proposal to improve hospital security. Since admin have been no help, she’s going to go over their heads to the medical board in the city. Jo says she’ll help any way Bree needs. Jo checks her phone and plays the message from Tane.
Tane and Harper arrive home. Harper is no longer wearing the eyepatch and is on the phone to Dana, saying the weeping was because the eye was healing. She tells Tane about Archie throwing up on Sonny and that they’re at the surf club. Tane says he’ll go and get Archie. His phone flashes up a call from Jo. There is an awkward moment before Tane says he’ll call her back.
Lacey and David arrive back at the police station. David tries to get Lacey to ignore what Leah said but Lacey says she was right: She dragged Theo away from his friend’s wedding and put him in danger, making it her fault. At the Morgan house, Justin tries to suggest to Leah that Lacey saw what happened and they don’t even know where Theo is. Leah wants to go to the police station. Justin says he’ll talk to David first. He goes out while Leah lies on her bed crying.
David speaks to Justin on the phone, saying no-one can see Theo until the coroner releases the body. He talks to Lacey again, saying she’s not responsible, A female constable says Wendell didn’t show up at work. David suggests calling Jo to be with Lacey. Meanwhile, Tane pulls up outside the surf club and encounters Jo, who says they can stop playing phone tag. Tane puts his message down to too much champagne, saying it was nothing. Jo plays the message and says it doesn’t sound like nothing. They are interrupted by a call from David. Tane hurries away while Jo answers it.
At the Diner, Justin has filled Bree in on what’s happened. Marilyn brings him a hot drink. Justin says he’s worried about Leah, who is leaning on him one minute and treating him like the enemy the next. He asks Bree to come and look at her. They go back to the Morgan house but find no sign of Leah. Justin tries calling her but her phone’s in the bedroom.
Tane arrives home with Archie, Harper is quick to show off her patchless face to him but Tane isn’t really getting into the sprit of it. He says he drunk-dialled Jo at the wedding. Harper says that he wasn’t drunk when he came home and was fit to drive back so it wasn’t down to the champagne. Meanwhile, at the Diner, Alf and Marilyn discuss Marilyn keeping the place open. Justin turns up and asks if they’ve seen Leah.
At the police station, Lacey tells Jo that Wendell confessed to causing the accident. Lacey asks David to find him. Leah turns up and says she’s done enough damage. Jo steers Lacey out. David tells Leah to stop taking it out on her. Leah asks if he’ll arrest her if she doesn’t. Meanwhile, Lacey and Jo walk on the beach. Lacey says she and Leah both loved Theo and that she held him as he was dying, telling him she loved him. She says he’d still be alive if he’d never met her and she has to live with being responsible.
David tells Leah that the coroner won’t let her see Theo. Leah accuses him of covering for Lacey and says she should be arrested as an accessory for murder. David says the person that killed Theo also killed his wife and they’re on the same side. He also reveals that Theo’s mother has already IDed the body as next of kin. Justin arrives to collect her. They walk towards the surf club where Alf and Bree are waiting. Bree convinces Leah to come for a walk with her. Justin tells Alf about her demanding to see Theo. Alf notes Justin’s lost hm too and he’ll be there for him when it hits.
Leah tells Bree she was just clinging onto the glimmer of hope. Bree offers to help if it gets too much. Leah realises Justin spoke to her and says she’s not having a breakdown, she’s just sad her nephew’s died. She admits she’s also angry, partly at Lacey but also at Theo for not listening to her and following. At the police station, David tells the officers to check car parks and train stations. The constable points out they already are. David shouts that they’re not doing enough, before adding that somebody must have seen Wendell. Jo and Lacey arrive. David says they’ve got alerts on Wendell’s credit cards, bank accounts and passport. Lacey goes to get her bag; she’s staying with them tonight. David offers to take her home if Jo wants a minute.
Tane and Harper are outside the surf club with Archie’s pram. Harper is wearing sunglasses to protect her eye. They see Jo and Harper tells Tane to go talk to her. Tane tries to tell Jo why he ran off. Jo says not now, explaining Lacey’s boyfriend just died. Meanwhile, Bree brings Leah home. Leah tells Justin she’s exhausted and goes to lie down. Bree assures Justin it’s not a breakdown, she’s just sad about the loss. She wonders if Remi knows about Theo and offers to tell him.
At Salt, Tane and Jo talk about how devastated Lacey is. Jo doesn’t know if she should feel guilty about the hypnotherapy or glad she can be there for Lacey or sad about Theo. Tane says it’s all right to be relieved she didn’t cauise her mum’s death and he doesn’t think she’s terrible.
