Extended Summary

Paramedics are working on Theo without much success. Lacey is sitting in the road some yards away, staring. At the Morgan house, Bowman turns up looking for Leah. Justin silently points to her and Bowman says she needs to come with them. At the accident site, David drapes a blanket over a still-not-reacting Lacey. Leah and Justin arrive and Leah rushes towards the scene, wanting to see Theo. David stops her, saying she doesn’t want to see. They see Theo’s body being wheeled away, covered up. Justin comforts a sobbing Leah.

Sonny is finishing changing Archie’s nappy. Dana checks it over and gives her approval. Harper emerges from the bedroom and takes Archie, saying they’ve done enough and she’ll put him to sleep. Tane arrives back and says the wedding was the best, until he had to drive Remi and a drunk and talkative Abigail home. He takes Archie, and Sonny and Dana decide to go and catch last orders at Salt. Tane shows Harper the wedding photos.

At the police station, Lacey is sat, still not paying much attention to her surroundings. David comes up and makes an attempt to clean up the wounds to her hands. He asks her what happened, saying he got a call from Justin saying she was involved with Wendell somehow. Lacey seems to come out of her trance, saying he ran Theo down and drove off, just like he did with her mum.

Leah and Justin have returned home. Justin tries asking Leah if she wants to get changed or if he can do anything for her. Leah decides she needs to call Cassandra. Justin says the police will do that but Leah says if it was VJ she’d want to hear straightaway and from family. Justin offers to do it. Leah says she was the one that was meant to be looking after him.

David has taken Lacey into the interview room to record her statement. Lacey says they should be getting after him. David says it needs to be on record. Lacey says she asked Wendell to meet her in the hope of getting a confession from him, using new information from Jo – that a man came to the car, checked on their mum and then just left – to pose as a witness. She says he agreed to go to the police to confess, but then drove at her and hit Theo. David ends the statement, tells Bowman to pick him up and comforts Lacey.

On the balcony at Salt, Sonny is on the phone to Remi and tells Dana that Remi wants them to do work on the record label now he’s back. Dana says he hoped they’d spend the day together now Tane’s back. Sonny tells Remi he’s had a better offer. Dana is apologetic about him missing the wedding but Sonny says he’d rather have been with her.

At the police station, David gets a call and tells Lacey that Wendell isn’t at his house. Lacey wants to go and do something. David reminds her what that’s led to and says to let him handle it. Meanwhile, Justin and Leah are in bed. Leah says Cassandra asked her when she last saw Theo and she couldn’t bring herself to say that he was cross, she was angry and she can’t take it back.

Next morning, Sonny and Dana are walking through the park with a hamper which Dana says is one of Marilyn’s special romance ones. Sonny claims he can do romance and suggests they go down the sand dunes. Dana isn’t convinced that’s romantic but agrees. At that moment, Tane and Harper pull up next to them in a panic. Harper’s eyes is weeping and uncomfortable so Tane’s taking her to hospital to get it checked over. They ask the pair to look after Archie and they agree.

Justin is making breakfast and starts crying, but wipes his eyes when he hears Leah coming. He tells her he’s told Marilyn she won’t be in today. Leah isn’t sure if she can face breakfast. There’s a knock at the door and Leah tells him to send them away. Justin lets them in when he sees it’s Alf and Marilyn. Leah falls into Alf’s arms.

Lacey is sat by the beach. David arrives with a bag of her things, including teddy bear Mr Beanie. Lacey thanks him for going to the flat for her, saying she couldn’t face going back there without Theo. Lacey gets a reminder of check-ins for Tasmania. Despite David’s protests, she decides she needs to go see Leah and tell her what happened.

Leah tells Alf and Marilyn about Lacey’s plan to confront the man who killed her mother and how she demanded Theo go with her. She thinks she should have believed her instincts about Lacey in the first place. Justin tries to pull her back but she insists this is on Lacey. Alf tries to say that’s not a good route to go down but Leah says that’s easy for him to say when he’s not the one who’s lost someone he loved. Meanwhile, Dana and Sonny are eating the picnic at a table in the park while looking after Archie. Sonny gives a rose to Dana, supposedly on Archie’s instruction. Archie then throws up over him and he goes to get cleaned up. Dana notes he’s a keeper.

Justin is sat on his own when Lacey and David arrive. Justin tries to suggest it’s not a good time and David agrees but then Leah emerges from her room. Lacey goes over and says Theo saved her life. Leah asks if she’s meant to be happy that she’s alive and Theo isn’t, saying he died because she’s selfish and reckless. She goes back to her room and David and Lacey leave.

Shortly after, Justin checks on Leah, suggesting she was hard on Lacey. Leah says she doesn’t want to hear it and suddenly wonders if he’s even dead, since they didn’t see who was in the body bag. She announces that she wants to see him for herself.
