Eden’s caught red handed. David follows a lead. An unexpected encounter rattles Jo.
Extended Summary
Outside the surf club, Eden tries to get Abigail to give her details of the hens party plans. They briefly encounter Justin before John also appears and asks them if Eden has got her vows sorted. Eden is still working on them and John reminds her that the wedding is only a week away. Up in Salt, Lacey continues to feel frustrated that David won’t tell them what’s going on. Jo isn’t convinced her broken memory will be enough. Lacey tells Jo to keep an eye on David and find out what’s going on.
Cash arrives at the police station and asks to talk to David. David won’t let him close the office door. Cash apologises for talking to Lacey and David tells him to keep his mouth shut from now on. Noticing a folder’s been moved, he asks if someone has been in his office and Cash says he wouldn’t know since he’s only just got there.
At the Diner, John arrives and asks for a coffee while sitting with Justin. He comments that Justin and Leah’s was the first wedding he officiated. Marilyn points out it’s the only wedding he’s officiated. John asks Leah if she’s come up with a design for the wedding cake yet. Leah’s confused since no-one told her she was making one. John thinks they forgot to ask her and says he’ll talk to Eden and get back to her.
Cash manages to get David’s attention: The tech team have identified a car that belonged to Craig Wendell, a councillor in the Red Gum Falls area where the accident took place, who sold it six days after the accident. David insists he’ll handle it and tells Cash to keep it to himself this time. Jo turns up and David sends Cash on his break while telling Jo there’s nothing solid. Later, at Salt, Eden is struggling to work on her vows. Abigail asks for a photo of Cash, implied to be for the hen night. Cash turns up to collect an order. Eden tries to get him to let her see his vows but he says no.
Eden heads to Cash’s house and, after a search of his room, goes to look in the bag under his bed. She’s interrupted by John arriving. Eden claims she was going to surprise Cash in his room and was looking for her lingerie. John asks about the wedding cake. Eden say Leah’s not making it; it comes as part of the venue package. John looks awkward and says he’ll let her know. He insists Eden leave with him.
David is on the phone, presumably to Wendell, asking him to come in for an interview tomorrow. Cash turns up with some food and tries to make conversation. David notes that they can’t rely on Jo’s memory and Cash says they need to place Wendell at the scene of the accident. David tells him to give the food to the rest of the team.
At the beach house, Jo tells Lacey that David wouldn’t tell her anything but she thinks he was hiding something. Before Lacey can quiz her further, David himself turns up and evades her questions. Lacey decides to go; David suggests she could stay but Lacey says Theo will be missing her. David comments on the progress between Jo and Lacey.
At Salt, Abigail notes she thought Eden was going home. Eden says she came back. Abigail asks her why she love Cash. Eden says he’s the best guy in the world, kind and generous before saying she can’t fit all the reasons she loves him into a few sentences. Next morning, at the coffee cart, Leah tell Justin she had a sleepless night worrying about the wedding cake. Cash appears and Leah apologises for not knowing they need a cake. Cash explains that they don’t and Leah says it gives her more time to work out what to wear but also thinks John has a lot of explaining to do.
Wendell arrives at the police station and greets Davd but says he needs to be in a meeting in an hour. David takes him through to the interview room and explains it’s about a car crash in June two years ago in which there was a fatality. Wendell seems sympathetic but says he doesn’t know what it has to do with him.
At the Diner, Jo joins Lacey who immediately starts questioning her. Marilyn comments on seeing them in there together again. Jo only knows that David went in early to interview someone. Lacey tells her to take a coffee to him and find out who it is. John arrives and apologises to Leah and Justin for the cake mix-up. He offers to bring Leah something back from Paris…if she gives him the money…or he could pay.
Eden wakes up alone in Cash’s bed. She goes to look in the bag again but then Cash comes back. They discuss John telling Leah to make the wedding cake. Eden suggests some practice for the honeymoon but at that point Abigail walks in. She says the hen party starts tomorrow afternoon, she’s rearranged Eden’s roster and it’s going to be 24 hours of partying. She leaves them to get on with what she interrupted.
David explains to Wendell about the partial number plate. Wendell says lot of his staff had access to the work car and the sale was because he changes car every couple of years. David asks him where he was at 2.30pm on 11th June. Wendell asks if he can remember where he was two years ago and David says he was having the worst phone call of his life. Wendell deduces he knew the victim and they agree they’re both good at reading people. David presses that Wendell must have a calendar and he says he’ll get his office to call. He leaves and passes Jo, with them locking eyes for a moment. David brushes off Jo’s questions about him.
Cash and Eden turn up at Salt and Eden tells Abigail they’ve worked up an appetite. Cash joins David at the bar and asks about the interview. David says it wasn’t as productive as he hoped. Wendell doesn’t have a record but David calls him slippery but smart: He had an answer for everything but nothing useful and seemed to know a bit more than he should.
Jo arrives at the Diner flat and tells Lacey that the man she saw at the station seemed to recognise her and looked scared. She doesn’t think any of the officers will tell them anything. Lacey says he probably killed their mum and they have to find out who he is.
