Extended Summary

On the balcony at Salt, Dana, Sonny and Eden debate Bree texting Remi to meet her, thinking it’s a mixed message. Eden thinks she should have stopped her. Sonny suggests Bree might have decided to re-think the break-up after almost dying. Dana thinks it would require a belief in parallel universes. At the hospital, Remi is stunned that Bree called him there to tell him she doesn’t want him there. He says she could have texted. Bree says she has done, as well as telling him to his face and other people telling him, so if he turns up again she’s going to take out an AVO. She says when he refused to leave and argued with the security guard, he made her feel small and helpless and only one other man has done that. Remi protests that she can’t compare him to her abusive ex. Bree says to stop acting like him. Remi leaves.

Marilyn brings Alf a blueberry muffin that he didn’t order, saying he didn’t have breakfast. Alf says to give it to someone else. Justin comes over and asks Alf if he’s spent his poker winnings yet. Alf indicates he doesn’t have time and just wants to be left alone to do the crossword, turning down Marilyn’s offer to help out. Justin asks Marilyn what that was about.

At Salt, Dana is saying goodbye to Eden, with them saying they’ll check on Remi and Bree respectively. Sonny is finishing a phone call, claiming he’s taken up crochet. He tells Dana it was his mum and dad trying to guilt trip him into going to his brother Dylan’s graduation ceremony. Dana is stunned to learn he has a brother, despite him thinking he must have mentioned him, and asks why he doesn’t want to go. Sonny has nothing against Dylan, but says he’s the golden child while Sonny is the embarassment. Dana says she’s heard more about the teachers he crushed on than his family.

At the Lyrik house, Eden is on the phone to Cash, saying their wedding invitations have arrived. She says goodbye when Remi turns up. Remi momentarily wonders how she knows he was with Bree before saying she threatened him with an AVO and that wasn’t even the worst: She compared his behaviour yesterday to her ex. He says he can’t believe he scared her like that.

Outside the surf club, Dana suggests to Sonny that it’s not Dylan’s fault that their parents compare them. Sonny gives in and agrees to go. He suggests Dana come with him, since having a perfect girlfriend will make things easier. Dana isn’t keen on being a buffer. Sonny decides to go and pack, since he’ll need to leave today. Dana goes over to the table where Harper is sat. Harper quickly claims she wasn’t doing anything but Dana says she was on Smouldr. Harper confirms it’s part of trying to get over Tane.

Sonny turns up at the Lyrik house and Eden tells him his optimism was misplaced, explaining Bree threatened Remi with an AVO and went through stuff with an abusive ex. Remi comes in, noting he might as well have a front row seat to them talking about him. Sonny checks he’s going to stay away from Bree then suggests he comes with him on a road trip to Dylan’s uni graduation. Remi passes, saying he needs to sort himself out, and tells Eden he can’t sink any lower.

At the hospital, Levi removes Bree’s tube. Bree takes over the spiel about the risks of infection, blood clots and lung scarring and asks if she can go home. Levi asks the nurse with him if doctors or nurses make the worst patients and she says doctors. He reminds Bree that the risks are real. Bree says she has a nurse living with her. She realises he’s worried about her being lonely and says that’ll be the case wherever she is.

Dana and Harper arrive at the Diner flat. Harper has had twenty matches and is messaging half a dozen. Dana thinks she needs to arrange an actual date to see what they’re like in real life. Harper is bewildered at some of the terminology she’s using. Meanwhile, Eden suggests Remi needs a passion project to take his mind off things. Sonny tells Remi his mum’s disappointed that Remi’s not coming. Remi asks if she’s still got a crush on him. He thanks them both for having his back, even when he doesn’t deserve it, and says his goodbyes to Sonny before disappearing into his room. Eden gives Sonny invitations for his housemates, including one for Bree. Remi reappears with his guitar and starts gently strumming it.

Bree is lying in bed, looking at her phone. The nurse comes in to retrieve her food tray and she indicates she doesn’t want any more. She deletes photos of Remi from the phone. Meanwhile, Justin finds Alf fishing on the beach and suggests he’s not feeling it today. When Alf doesn’t respond, he suggests he join him for a beer.

Dana is taken with one of the suitors, Donnie, noting he has a cute dog, meaning he probably isn’t a psycho unless he dog-napped it for the photo. She notices he asked Harper if she has kids and she didn’t reply. Harper thinks every man she tells will start ghosting her. Dana thinks it’s better to be honest up front rather than have him run off when she tells him on the fourth date. Sonny arrives back and gives Dana the wedding invite. Dana asks his opinion and he tells Harper to be honest. Harper decides to message Donnie and tell him the truth. Sonny and Dana head to his room so she can show him how much she’ll miss him. An oblivious Harper calls out that he’s read it and not messaged back.

Later, Sonny is putting his bags in his car. Dana says he can tell his family he’s dating a career woman. Sonny says they’ll think she’s a figment of his imagination. They kiss goodbye and he drives off. Harper runs up to Dana, showing her the phone and saying she’s got a code red.

Alf and Justin have retired to Salt and Alf wonders why Justin needed a beer. Justin tries claiming he’s had a rough morning at the garage before admitting Marilyn thinks Alf is struggling without Cohen. Alf admits he loved teaching him how to fish and didn’t realise how big a hole he’d leave in their lives. Justin suggests he and Roo should be proud of turning his life around.

Harper and Dana go to the Diner. Dana doesn’t think Donnie asking her out for coffee is a code red. Marilyn overhears part of the conversation and learns Harper is on Smouldr. Harper asks for a minute to decide what to eat, before telling Dana she doesn’t have much confidence after everything that happened with Tane. Dana offers to check Donnie’s profile as Harper muses she might be ready in a week…or a year. Dana suggests this afternoon: She’s just messaged Donnie and said yes.
