John is concerned for Cash. Tim loses his temper. Eden reaches breaking point.
Extended Summary
John exits his house and notes Cash jogging past. Tim and Eden also emerge, which immediately draws Cash’s attention. Eden was just saying they were going to walk to the surf club, but on seeing Cash approaching, she changes her mind and decides they should drive. John stops Eden for a brief catch-up, during which Tim gets in the car and notices that the medical bag is now jammed in the glove box door. He and Eden drive off.
Cash goes inside and goes to his laptop, checking a printout of Tim’s friends list. John appears and tries to talk to Cash, saying it must be hard to see Eden moving on. Cash quickly shuts him down by saying he has to get ready for work. After John has gone however, Cash goes back to the laptop, looking up the counselling centre where Tim works. Checking through some glowing testimonials, he notices one from Nerida Mullins saying “Best counsellor ever” with three hearts. He looks her up on Facecloud and messages her asking to talk about Tim.
In his office at the surf club, Alf notices the paper in the bin and pushes it further in. Mali comes in and asks Alf if he’s heard about the open day gala, saying it’ll be on the beach but might mean more people there than usual. Alf says he’ll get John to put extra staff on. Mali explains it’s about building the business and they reflect on how he was once scared to move there. Alf asks to pick his brains.
Cash arrives at the police station. Rose asks to clear the air, saying she didn’t enjoy sending him home. Cash is accepting but doesn’t really seem to be engaged as Rose tells him about Xander going to Melbourne. Cash suddenly gets a text from Nerida with her number and goes into the office to make a call. Another officer asks Rose about Cash, telling her about him coming there in his civvies, making calls and printing things out. Cash is speaking to Nerida, who says she and Tim were dating while he was her counsellor. Rose interrupts, asking if the call is work-related. Cash ends the call, saying it was Gary. Rose asks why he’s been coming in when off shift.
On the balcony at Salt, Eden tells Tim that although she likes him, she’s worried about Cash’s behaviour and thinks things aren’t going to work out between them. Tim tells her that Cash not only rang Petra at work but has been contacting other family members and friends and that she can’t let Cash run her life, saying that he’s out of control.
Rose tells Cash he promised her no more trouble, but he’s been using the police computer for personal reasons, getting into an altercation in the street and doing something at the station while off shift. Cash tells her he’s been struggling with being around Tane and Harper now they’re a couple so just came in to do some work. Rose accepts the explanation and lets Cash go out on patrol.
Tim and Eden are coming downstairs at the surf club. Tim has to take a call from a client and they arrange to meet later. After Tim has gone, John tries to chat to Eden about Cash but Eden says he’s not her problem anymore. Later, Eden is at home when Cash turns up. She tries to take him to task but he says he has proof, telling her that Tim was sleeping with Nerida while she was his client and suggesting it’s a pattern of behaviour. Although initially stunned, Eden reminds him he rejected her and blew up her life and she doesn’t need his care and worry. She tells him to see himself out.
At the Diner, Leah and Marilyn see Alf reading the Coastal News and realise he’s looking at the real estate section. Alf says that, after talking to Mali and John, he’s decided to relocate the bait shop, although he’s not clear where to. Later, Leah remarks to Marilyn that she doesn’t seem too happy about the bait shop relocating. Marilyn says it’s a big change and she’s going to miss taking Alf his cup of tea. Leah sympathises but says it’s the start of a new era.
Mali brings some flyers into the surf club and shows them to Alf; they advertise free surf lessons for anyone from 5 to 105. Alf says he’ll be busy with his new project. He stops John and tells him he’s had a good idea for once in telling him not to give up on the bait shop, explaining about the relocation. He says he’s got four properties to look at and declines John’s offer to go with him.
At the station, Rose is finishing off a phone call from Xander, learning he arrived safely. She is surprised when Cash comes back. He says he was following up on a welfare check and has done all he can. Rose tries to clear the air again, saying she’s not there to make Cash’s life harder, which he seems to accept.
Tim joins Eden at Salt and they get a table. Eden sits him down and asks if he’s had a relationship with a client. Tim denies it and realises Cash has said something. Eden says it’s meant to be six months ago. Tim realises he means Nerida and insists they didn’t have a relationship and Cash wants to think the worst of him. Eden doesn’t think Cash would lie to her. Tim wants to know who she believes. He follows Eden from the surf club, insisting he’s as confused as her and telling her not to let Cash get to her, that he’s harassing him and searched his car. Eden says she needs them both to leave her alone.
Rose suggests that she and Cash go for a drink after work, admitting she’s short of company with Xander away. Cash agrees. At that moment, Tim turns up and starts having a go at Cash, telling him to back off and accusing him of trying to break him and Eden up. Cash says Tim uses people. Tim shoves him and Rose gets between them, telling Cash to take a step back which he reluctantly does.
