Extended Summary

Dean follows Jai and Amber down the beach, calling after them. Amber thinks the offer of money comes with strings attached, despite Dean pointing out he’s just trying to look out for his kid. Amber and Jai walk on. Willow approaches Dean, wondering what’s going on. Back at Salt, Bella is telling Taylor that Angelo is investigating her father’s murder and if he finds out about her affair with Colby he could make things hard for him.Taylor doesn’t think Angelo would put an innocent man in jail but Bella says he already has. Taylor thinks Angelo won’t find out but Bella insists she needs to end it. Taylor leaves, passing Nikau who asks Bella what’s going on.

Willow and Dean arrive back at the flat with Dean wondering what Amber thinks is going to happen. Willow points out that Amber’s been doing it on her own for a long time, while Colby tries to suggest she’ll calm down. Willow offers to talk to Amber. Dean isn’t sure what the point is. Colby says Jai is the point. Meanwhile, Alf, Marilyn and Roo are walking through the caravan park. Alf admits he’s at a loose end with Martha still away, which is why he’s spending so much time at the Diner with them. They wonder if they should invite Owen, who none of them have seen much of since the birthday party. Roo goes to his caravan and bumps into him just about to head off for a surf. He declines to join them.

Amber and Jai enter the surf club with Amber telling Jai he can have water if he wants a drink. Willow enters looking for Amber and John takes Jai to look at the Polaris. Amber says that if she takes money from Dean then he’ll want a say in how she raises Jai and has already told her she’s doing things wrong. Willow says Dean grew up without a father and doesn’t want the same thing for Jai. At the Diner, Roo is telling Alf and Marilyn that Owen doesn’t seem to be able to talk to her anymore. Owen arrives, wondering if the offer of coffee is still available, and Alf and Marilyn leave. Owen implies that he only came because the wind changed and the surf was no good, and seems disconnected from the conversation. He agrees to spend time with Roo when she’s finished marking but has no ideas what to do.

Nikau reminds Bella they agreed it was a bad idea to confront Taylor but Bella doesn’t think she’ll say anything to Angelo because it would mean explaining why. She says she’s protecting Colby but Nikau replies that he doesn’t care about Colby, just her. Bella reminds him that he said things would die down. Meanwhile, Taylor turns up at the Diner flat and asks Colby if he’s alone. Colby says Dean’s in his room. Taylor says it won’t take long: It’s over.

Colby chases Taylor down the path, asking what’s changed, and finally gets her to stop and talk to him. Meanwhile, Bella and Nikau arrive back at the Parata house. Nikau isn’t happy that Bella still wants to talk about Colby. She says she’s realised it was a mistake to confront Taylor so suggests leaving an anonymous note on her car. Nikau thinks she’ll know who it was from after Bella confronted her. She tries to get Nikau to help her split Colby and Taylor up but Nikau calls her crazy. Bella drops the matter.

Colby and Taylor are sat talking. Taylor says Colby needs to think about the effect on other people. Colby realises someone has talked to her…and since Dean and Willow think they’ve broken up, it must have been Bella. Back at the flat, he asks Bella if she spoke to Taylor. Bella says she did and she’s not going to apologise for it. Colby asks what she thinks Angelo will do when he finds out and Bella agrees it would be something bad…so what’s he going to do when he finds out Colby’s having an affair with her? She asks why Colby won’t end it, since he isn’t going to get much more information from Taylor. Colby admits he doesn’t want to and Bella realises he’s falling for her, calling him stupid. Colby says it’s none of her business.

Willow brings Amber and Jai to the flat to see Dean. She takes Jai to water the plants so Amber and Dean can talk. Amber says she overreacted but she knows how to look after Jai. She decides to take him and go. Dean reminds her that Jai is his son too and Amber was the one who opened the door to this. Later, Dean is complaining to Willow at Salt when Amber approaches them. Amber says Jai wants a bike for his birthday, so Dean can buy him that if he wants, and she’ll let him know if she needs help but she’s not there yet. Dean says he just wants to help and she agrees with him when he says that for two messed-up idiots they raised a pretty awesome kid.

Next morning, Roo is chatting to Marilyn at the Diner and notes she did all the talking with Owen and resorted to chatting about the weather. Owen comes in and Roo blurts out that it’s a nice day, before suggesting he get a takeout and they go for a walk. Colby comes in and sits with Taylor, to her exasperation, and also that of Bella who arrives outside with Nikau. Colby convinces Taylor to go to the motel, where he tells her he’s sorted Bella. Taylor thinks it would be easier if they ended things but Colby doesn’t think either of them want that. Taylor agrees and starts unbuttoning his shirt.

Bella and Nikau go up to the flat. Bella notes Colby isn’t answering his phone and suspects he’s with Taylor. Nikau says the way she’s acting isn’t right but Bella says she’s trying to protect her family and if Nikau’s not on board with that they shouldn’t be together. Nikau is bewildered that she’s dumping him but Bella stands firm. Outside the caravan park house, Alf is on the phone to Martha, saying he’s looking forward to seeing her again. Nikau awkwardly approaches and says he was looking for Ryder. Alf says he’ll be home soon and agrees to Nikau sitting with him to wait.

Roo and Owen are walking along a bush path with her noting last week was tough for him but she thought they were back on track. Owen says there’s a lot going on but it’s nothing to do with them. Roo says he can talk to her about anything. Owen says he’s looking at the bigger picture. Roo suggests it can give clarity. Owen decides he needs to leave Summer Bay.
