Extended Summary

Amber and Jai turn up at the surf club and are greeted by Dean. Jai is feeling better and had a good sleep. Dean sees Angelo and Taylor coming downstairs and hurriedly ushers the pair outside, telling them he wants to show Jai a board. Angelo asks Taylor if Dean seemed anxious and tells her that he’s convinced Dean knows something about the murder and will crack soon. Taylor advises him not to push too hard, saying he doesn’t want a repeat of last time. Angelo agrees. At the Diner flat, Colby finishes his phone call and learns about a case Angelo worked on, getting the name to look up. Bella comes in and wonders if Colby was arranging a meeting with Taylor, who she thinks is bad for him. Colby says she’s a good person but Bella retorts that she’s cheating on her husband; Bella will keep their secret but doesn’t like it. Once she’s gone, Colby looks up the name Andrew Felton and comes up with a news report about how murder charges against him were dropped and Angelo was investigated as a result.

Tori is running around the house in a fluster, asking where the nappy bag is (she left it by the door) and where her phone is (in her hand). Leah and Justin convince her to let them take Grace to Marilyn’s so she can get off to work. When she arrives, she finds Jasmine and Christian sharing a joke and makes a caustic remark about the lack of work going on. Christian tells her that the MVA patient spent the night in ICU but is ready to go to a ward. Tori sends Jasmine to get ready for the handover. Christian offers her a coffee but she tells him to check on a patient instead.

At the surf club, John serves Jai a juice. Dean offers to pay, which Amber doesn’t seem keen on, but John says it’s on the house, although he declines to buy Dean one as well. Bella comes in and meets Jai, who is initially shy of her until Dean introduces them. Jai asks to play footie. At the hospital, Tori gives instructions to Jasmine, who wonders if she’s done something to upset her since they don’t seem to be getting on as well as they did yesterday. Tori says she just hopes Jasmine makes the right choices when it comes to trusting people, but doesn’t elaborate, leaving her confused.

Colby meets Taylor on the beach and tells her another officer gave him something that he doesn’t know what to make of. He shows her the article on his phone. Back at the surf club, Dean and Bella watch as Amber and Jai play pool together. Bella notes being a dad suits Dean but gets awkward when Dean comments on Colby finishing things with Taylor. Dean tells Amber he can watch Jai if she has things to do but Amber says she has the day off. Dean initially thinks she’s lucky but slowly begins to realise she hasn’t worked since she stopped looking after John. He offers her money but Amber insists she can look after Jai on her own, although she does agree to him shouting them a meal.

Taylor tells Colby that something happened a while back that meant Angelo had to work hard to get back into the police. His mistake nearly ended his career and pretty much ended their marriage, since it was then that he became obsessed about cases. She notes one wrong move could cost him everything. After she’s gone, Colby calls someone and says he wants to make a formal complaint about police harassment. Later, Colby and Angelo encounter each other near the surf club. Angelo knows Colby put in the complaint against him. Colby says he wouldn’t want Angelo to make another mistake and put the wrong man in jail again. They square up and Dean and Taylor have to separate them. Angelo tells Colby he’s made things harder for himself.

At the Diner, Jasmine tells Irene she’s worried she’s upset Tori given the way she’s been with her. Leah and Justin overhear and Jasmine wonders if Tori’s regretting dropping the AVO. Despite Leah trying to keep him quiet, Justin says Tori’s upset that Jasmine went out with Christian becomes she’s got the hots for him. Jasmine is pleased and Leah warns Justin about what Tori might do to him. Back at the hospital, Jasmine tells Tori that there’s nothing between her and Christian and relates what Justin said. Tori tries to deny liking Christian but is left embarrassed when Jasmine comments on him being cute.

Later, Christian gives Jasmine an update on the patient Tori mentioned earlier. Jasmine suggests he should tell Tori about it. Christian goes to her office and, when she continues to be short with him, asks if he ran over her cat. Tori says she doesn’t like him asking out a new member of staff every day. Christian realises she’s jealous and is pleased, although she denies it. Tori heads home and tells Justin he violated the bro code by revealing that she liked “the hot doc”…then realises Christian’s there. Leah and Justin awkwardly explain he popped by to check on Justin and they invited him to stay for dinner. They go outside, supposedly to feed Buddy. Tori admits she was jealous. Christian has to go back to the city for a few days but suggests he and Tori have a drink when he gets back. He also notes that “the hot doc” is what he calls her.

Dean and Colby arrive back at the flat where Bella is waiting. Dean is unhappy that Colby riled up Angelo but Colby says now Angelo won’t be able to interview them without being able to prove he has good cause. Dean and Bella accept the explanation. Amber and Jai arrive for their meal with Dean, who notes he could use a few beers…which he hastily amends to juice. Colby briefly greets Jai before they leave. Bella suggests she and Colby go to Salt but, looking at a phone message, he says he has things to do. In fact, he meets Taylor on the beach. She is upset he used what she told him. Colby reminds her she said Angelo didn’t trust him but Taylor says that was when Angelo thought Colby was lying about Bella. Colby says he’s protecting his family but is sorry if she was hurt. He hugs her, which Bella sees from a distance.

At the Diner, Irene is serving Dean, Amber and Jai. Jai wants chocolate cake but Amber suggests getting a sandwich first. It come out that it’s Jai’s birthday soon and he awkwardly notes he doesn’t need any presents. Dean sends Jai with Irene, then tries to get Amber to take a large amount of money. Amber is unimpressed; she takes Jai and leaves. Meanwhile, Bella walks up to Taylor in Salt and says they need to talk about Colby. Taylor says she isn’t in the mood but Bella replies that she’s going to hear it whether she wants to or not.
