Extended Summary

Tori arrives home and is greeted by Ava. After they chat about Grace and about what Ava was like as a baby, Tori asks if Ava’s spoken to Justin. Ava asks if there’s anything weird going on. Leah and Justin come back in at that point and say that Justin’s just tired. Leah takes Ava to check on the barbecue. Tori takes Justin into the nursery, ostensibly to check on Grace but really to ask about his pain and advise him to tell Ava. Justin says he’s going to do it over breakfast but is worried how she’ll take it. At Salt, Roo and Owen go out onto the balcony. Roo apologises for dropping everything on him and Owen notes he didn’t think about how hard it would be for her. He asks how close she and Evan were and Roo admits that if he’d been around longer they could have had a relationship. Owen says that Evan trusted her to watch over him at the end.

Next morning, Jasmine goes for a lengthy run along the beach and through a park area. She runs into Tori with Grace and notes she had a night out with the girls before they reflect on cuddling Grace to sleep. Jasmine asks about Justin before they decide to go for a coffee. Back at the Morgan house, Justin and Leah are making breakfast. Justin is still worried about how Ava will react. Ava appears and queries having pancakes for breakfast before asking if they can come and see her play next month when she tries out for the development squad. Justin starts to tell her about his problem, then just says that he’ll have to see if he’s got anything on at work.

At the Diner, Tori talks to Jasmine about inviting Ava down, saying she couldn’t bear losing Justin. She realises her mistake but Jasmine says it’s fine. Irene checks on them but they both have to go. At the counter, Alf and Marilyn discuss Roo and the fact it may take her time to come to terms with things. At the caravan park, Ryder finds Owen playing the guitar and notes his lights were off last night. After checking he didn’t go to a gig without him, he wonders if he was with Roo. Roo comes along and Ryder asks if she needs him to leave. Roo says she’s going to carry on walking and Ryder can go to the house to study if he likes. After she’s gone, Owen confirms to Ryder that they had a drink and talked things over, adding that she’s complex.

Alf and Marilyn continue to discuss not having heard from Roo and explain to Irene that she’s uncomfortable around Owen. Ryder comes in and confirms that he’s seen Roo. He reveals that she and Owen went for a drink and wonders if there’s something going on between them. At the surf club, Roo has just finished a session at the gym. Alf arrives and asks about Owen, saying Ryder is starting to read between the lines. Roo insists that the drink wasn’t a date, saying she just needed to get to know Owen.

Tori arrives home with Grace and greets Leah and Justin. Justin admits he bailed on telling Ava but thinks she knows all she needs to know. Tori ends up walking out in frustration and Leah tells Justin he can’t go on like this. Later, Leah and Justin call Ava to join them. Justin tells her about his cavernoma and how the doctors want to operate but he’s not sure if he wants it. Ava leaves upset and Leah goes after her. Justin finds Tori and tells her what happened. He hates that Ava is scared.

Near the bait shop, Ryder helps Alf unload the ute. Alf tells him that Roo and Owen wasn’t a date but Ryder isn’t convinced. Roo arrives and has a go at Ryder for spreading rumours. Ryder excuses himself but lingers when Owen appears and invites Roo for a coffee. Meanwhile, Leah finds Ava on the beach. Ava asks if Justin’s going to die. Leah says no-one’s talking about that and Tori and the doctors are keeping an eye on him. However, she is unable to answer when Ava asks why Justin is scared.

At the Diner, Jasmine chats to Irene about her girls’ night out which involved Amber going on the karaoke and has left Willow passed out on the couch. Tori arrives with Grace and confirms Justin has spoken to Ava. Jasmine says Justin is scared but will see the bigger picture. She offers to delay going to work to spend time with Tori but Tori says the nurse unit manager is scary. Back at the Morgan house, Leah and Ava have returned. Ava asks Justin if he’s scared about the operation. Justin says there are risks but Ava thinks that if Tori says he should have it then he should.

Roo and Owen walk back to the caravan park, discussing the idea of dating. Owen suggests they have dinner together as an actual date. Roo hesitantly agrees. Owen says he’ll pick her up around six but both are rather awkward as they part. At Salt, Justin tells Tori that Ava is begging him to have the operation, which is what she wanted. He says he wants a second opinion before making the final call: He owes it to Ava to explore every option.
