Extended Summary

Colby follows Bella down the steps from the Diner flat, still trying to insist she stay. Willow comes along and wonders what’s going on. Colby calls Bella a brat and Bella calls Colby a jerk. Willow convinces Colby to let her go since the row’s not doing any good. Inside the Diner, Justin comments on Leah’s lack of subtlety. Given the looks Raffy and Ryder are giving them, he notes there’s going to be some interesting conversations. Irene, looming up at the window, agrees, commenting that Marilyn hasn’t gone mad after all and guessing Justin was the one Leah was humming about. Justin light-heartedly checks that he was and Leah suggests they go somewhere and discuss it…or not. Irene retreats and Raffy says she’s glad they’ve got it together. Ryder realises she knew and is glad the fire alarm went off otherwise they’d have missed it. Bella enters and tells him it was her doing. Ryder calls her a legend but Raffy looks less certain.

Leah and Justin arrive back at the Morgan house where Justin queries Leah’s definition of taking things slow. Leah says she realised that she likes him and is happy with things as they are. Justin is in agreement as they kiss and head for the bedroom. Up in the Diner flat, Willow isn’t sure Bella’s behaviour is such a big deal. Colby accepts that he and Dean used to skive off school and smoke but points out that he stopped when his mum put her foot down. He notes Bella keeps changing her mind about school. Roo turns up looking for Bella and says they got off on the wrong foot, asking Colby to call if she turns up. Colby gets a police call so Willow offers to talk to Bella.

Bella isn’t sure what the fuss is about Justin and Leah but Ryder says they’re like town royalty and a subdued Raffy agrees. Ryder wonders about hearing the full story and Bella jokes about thin walls. Roo comes in and sees Bella, but before she can approach her, Irene asks if she’s seen Leah, explaining about her and Justin. Roo distractedly notes it’s official, explaining she was sworn to secrecy. When she looks back, Bella is gone. Outside, Bella is accosted by Willow, who says she’s heard about her mischief. Bella says some people call her a legend and everyone’s talking about Leah and Justin now anyway (which Willow is thrown by). She says Willow worries too much.

Justin and Leah are in bed with Justin jokingly suggesting they think about the future: Getting married and moving in together. Leah joins in, asking about kids. Justin says they should have one or two and Leah says five or six. They settle for another kiss. Meanwhile, Raffy, Ryder and Bella walk through the caravan park. Raffy and Ryder suggest a movie and Bella wants to go for a swim. They’re interrupted by Roo, who asks to speak to Bella. Raffy goes home. Bella protests school is over. Roo apologises for this afternoon, saying she understands her frustration but thinks they can still work together. Bella says that would be nice…in a parallel universe. She walks away smirking. Ryder gives Roo an apologetic look before following.

Leah and Justin come back into the living area, discussing Brody and Simone leaving, with Leah saying Justin will still see them. Raffy walks in on the pair kissing and says she’s glad they’re official but to keep the PDAs to a minimum. Leah leaves and Raffy explains to Justin that she was meant to meet her maths teacher to discuss an assignment but the fire alarm going off meant she couldn’t. She says Bella’s frustrating. Justin asks what he can do to help but Raffy says she’ll sort it. At the caravan park house, Roo is on the phone to Maggie and arranges to meet her at Salt. Leah comes home and Roo teases her about not wanting to take Justin to the movies but kissing him in front of everyone. She says she knew friends with benefits wasn’t Leah’s thing. Leah says it was until it wasn’t, and she’s having her first official date with Justin tonight. Roo presses her for details.

Willow comes into the Diner and asks Irene what’s happened today. Irene mentions the school being evacuated. Willow presses for anything else and Irene says not unless you count Justin and Leah which Willow admits she already knew about. Willow asks if it’s serious. Irene thinks it must be for Leah to put herself out there again. She asks how Colby’s handling Bella and Willow admits there’s problems. Upstairs, Ryder tries to get Bella to give Roo a chance, saying she needs help, but Bella thinks Roo doesn’t have time for her. Colby enters and Bella sarcastically asks if he chased any real criminals. Colby wants to talk so Ryder leaves. Bella complains about people always stopping her spending time with her friends. Colby says he can’t keep leaving work to deal with her and asks why he should care if she doesn’t. Bella retorts that she wonders the same thing.

Maggie and Roo have met in Salt. Maggie says parents have complained plus mentions Raffy missing the meeting. Roo doesn’t want to give up on Bella but isn’t sure she’s the right person to help her. Maggie says Bella’s been pushing boundaries so maybe they should push back. Downstairs, Willow exits the gym and sees Justin, noting he looks like he’s going on a hot date. Justin admits he is. Willow says she knows about him and Leah, and is happy for them. Leah turns up and offers to wait upstairs but Willow says they’re done.

Justin brings Leah a drink on the balcony. Leah asks about Willow and Justin admits it was a bit weird. He says he loved her once but he spent most of their relationship trying to save her while she tried not to be saved. Leah accepts things are different between Justin and her. Next morning, Roo is trying to get Ryder to have breakfast before school when Alf turns up, saying he wanted to surprise them. Both are pleased to see him but Roo has to get to work and Ryder has to meet Raffy; Roo says she’d have taken the morning off if she’d known (Ryder offers to take the morning off and gets a glare). Roo says they’ll have lunch together. Alf is left alone, looking rather forlorn.

Irene serves Colby at the Diner and she and Willow ask him what’s happening with Bella. Colby admits he’s bought Maggie a coffee to try and soften her up. He asks Willow about Justin and whether she’s still into him. Willow says she isn’t, but with that and what happened with Dean she thinks the universe is trying to tell her something…but she’s not sure what. Colby takes the coffee to Maggie on the wharf while Bella watches them from the flat, looking anxious. Maggie says she thinks Roo would achieve the same results as Simone but Bella won’t give her a chance. She has a solution but Colby’s not going to like it: She’s suspending Bella. Colby protests that he’s meant to be at work.

Colby rejoins Bella and tells her the decision. Bella says Roo gave up on her after one day and Colby reminds her she was the one that set the fire alarm off. Bella wants to stay there on her own but Colby refuses to let her. He takes her to the police station and tells her to sit at a desk and do her homework. Bella refuses. Colby shows her the holding cell and says if she doesn’t co-operate he’ll lock her in there.
