Extended Summary

Leah and Justin are sharing a drink at Salt. Justin says his family are a train wreck. Leah asks if there’s anything wrong with Tori’s pregnancy. Justin says no but mentions the drama between her and Jasmine, along with Raffy’s epilepsy and Mason’s job problems…but stops himself before he mentions Brody. Leah suggests he doesn’t need to be the big brother to them all the time and could focus on himself. She heads off to check on Ryder. Next morning, Mason runs a class near the beach. Raffy and Ryder walk past and Ryder, complaining about English, wonders why Raffy ignored Mason. After making him promise to stay quiet, Raffy explains about Mason’s plans for a cannabis trial, using the project as cover. Ryder is surprised, given how opposed Mason was before. Raffy says she’s going to talk to Simone about topics.

At the Diner, Irene notices Marilyn getting a lot of text alerts. Marilyn explains it’s news updates, since she got Raffy to set the phone up to tell her about anything to do with Kabul and Afghanistan. She says Jett’s working with Afghan soldiers and escorting VIPs. Leah arrives: She’s meant to be in at lunchtime but asks for a couple of hours off before the afternoon shift, since she wants to cheer up Justin. At the Morgan house, Justin tells Mason that Brody hasn’t surfaced. Mason is still annoyed with Justin for keeping quiet about the affair but assures him he hasn’t told Raffy. He also says she wasn’t interested in his project ideas. Leah turns up and insists Justin come down the beach with her, annoying Mason further.

Leah sets herself up sunbathing on the beach, while a bemused Justin clutches his surfboard. She tells him to surf, swim, build a sand castle…whatever he needs to relax. Justin heads towards the water but passes Ben, who initially ignores him until he asks about Ziggy. Ben says they were up half the night with her and asks how long Justin would have let her be made a fool of, adding she won’t be in work any time soon. As he passes Leah, she asks if everything’s okay and he says no. Justin heads out into the surf. When he rejoins Leah a while later, he admits things aren’t really any better after the run-in with Ben. Leah asks what it was about and Justin suggests they go for a drink.

Raffy and Ryder arrive at school; Raffy wants to go see Simone in her office but there’s a sign on the door saying she’s working off campus today. Raffy suddenly faints and Ryder lowers her to the floor as she starts fitting. He eventually manages to get one of the watching students to get a teacher. When Raffy comes round, Maggie is with them. Raffy says she didn’t get any warning. Maggie asks if she should call Tori or Marilyn, since someone needs to be informed. Raffy says to call Mason but she won’t go home. A short time after, Maggie, Raffy, Mason and Ryder are all in the office. Mason checks Raffy’s all right and didn’t hurt herself. Maggie and Ryder give them space. Raffy notes it’s the second seizure on medication but says she can’t go home every time because it’s her life now. She notes everyone but Ryder just stood there. In the corridor, Ryder initially ignores Maggie’s instruction to get off his phone, saying he’s got an idea.

At Salt, Justin has explained to Leah about Brody cheating on Ziggy and how he knew about it. Leah is understanding of Justin’s position although less forgiving of Brody. Justin says you can’t help who you fall in love with and Leah agrees. Justin assumes there’s a story behind that so Leah offers to tell him more if he gets her another drink. At the school, Maggie calls Ryder over and says there’s only one problem with his idea: She didn’t think of it herself. Raffy comes over and wonders what’s going on. Ryder explains they want to organise a Purple Day at school, to raise money for research and educate people about epilepsy, maybe with Tori giving a talk. Raffy is worried that everyone will know but Ryder points out most know already and they’ll know what to do. Raffy agrees and Maggie ropes Ryder into helping her organise it, getting him out of English.

Raffy meets Mason at Salt. She tells him about Ryder’s idea but notes it won’t stop the seizures. She wants to do his trial. Mason says she can’t tell anyone; Raffy says she told Ryder about the idea but won’t tell him they’re doing it. Mason says they’ll set up in the garage and she’ll have to use the cover story. He heads home with a box and finds Ben there picking up Ziggy’s things. Mason assures him he didn’t know what was going on. He sets up the equipment, including printed instructions, in the garage. When he exits, Ben is finishing packing and Mason says to let Ziggy know he’s sorry about what happened. Mason passes Justin and Leah as he’s leaving and warns them Ben’s there. Justin tries to talk to Ben but he drives off. Leah commiserates with him. Justin kisses her and they both look awkward.

At the Diner, Marilyn finishes a call with Raffy and tells Irene about her having another fit and staying at school. She gets a text alert and is horrified to learn there’s been an explosion at Jett’s base. Meanwhile, Leah and Justin are in bed together, bemused but rather satisfied as they recount how Leah kissed him back and they ended up there. Leah asks if there’s a way out other than the window, since she doesn’t want to deal with his family. Justin offers to check if the coast is clear and Leah flirtatiously asks if he can’t do something else. Getting the idea, Justin asks how long she can stay and they disappear beneath the covers.
