Extended Summary

Willow and Jasmine are walking on the beach. Jasmine comments on having a night shift later. Willow wishes she could get back to work, especially with the gym being short-handed. She nearly mentions Robbo but stops herself, although Jasmine says it’s fine. Jasmine walks on as Dean approaches from a surf and Willow checks he’s actually been into work today. They are interrupted by a call from Colby and rush to the flat to welcome him and Bella back, warning Bella that she left them all worried. Bella mentions that Colby’s going back to work. Colby tries to change the subject, saying he’d better call the school to let them know she’s back. Bella tells him to call his boss as well.

John finds Alf in Salt and guesses from the look on his face that things didn’t go so well with Martha. Alf says she’s leaving town and that it was bound to happen sooner or later. He admits that he doesn’t want her to go and John encourages him to tell her. Alf heads back to the caravan park where Martha is loading up her car. She notes that she seems to have accumulated a lot of stuff and will miss the place but also says she’s looking forward to getting back. Alf suggests she couldn’t make it back by tonight and also has people she’d want to say goodbye to, trying to get her to stay for another night. Martha agrees but says she will go tomorrow.

Willow and Dean tell Bella she should have spoken to them and Bella acknowledges that Summer Bay is home now. Colby tells Bella and Willow to go and buy food from downstairs. Bella encourages Colby again to call McCarthy. After the girls have gone, Dean asks Colby if he can really go back to the police as if nothing happened. Colby says he did what he had to and Bella’s blaming herself for things. Dean agrees they need to suck it up. Downstairs, Irene and Jasmine welcome Bella back as she and Willow give their order. Colby comes down and Jasmine briefly asks him about Bella. Bella calls over that Irene has given them free dessert. Tori arrives and, learning Jasmine’s going to work, offers her a lift. Jasmine says she’s already made arrangements with friends.

Dean walks through the caravan park, looking jittery. He passes Alf, who asks if he’s all right and thinks he’s been drinking. Dean goes to his van and takes out his bag of pills. He gets a phone call from Willow but, after hesitating, he ignores it and takes a pill. At the hospital, Tori and Jasmine discuss the number of patients who haven’t been seen yet or who are waiting for beds. A patient is brought in from an MVA and Tori goes to deal with him while Jasmine gets the surgical registrar down.

John is giving Irene pointed glares at the Diner as he waits to be served. Alf and Martha turns up and John assumes they’ve talked. Alf manages to stall him until Martha announces she’s going. John says Marilyn would like to say goodbye to her and Martha agrees to pop round first thing in the morning. Once the others are out of earshot, John asks Alf what’s going on. Alf thinks Martha is content but John thinks he should tell her how he feels. At the hospital, Jasmine joins Tori in looking after the patient, Paul, who was in a motorbike accident. Tori thinks he needs a scan. Jasmine says there’s a backlog at Radiology. Tori snaps at her, then apologises and asks her to get onto them anyway.

Colby finishes a phone call as Willow and Jasmine arrive back and says McCarthy wants him back tomorrow, since he’s down two officers without him and Chelsea. Bella points out she has to put on a uniform and go back to school. Colby threatens to walk her to school in his uniform. Willow wonders where Dean went to. Colby doesn’t know, he expected Dean to be there when he got back. Willow goes to Dean’s caravan and bangs on the door. She tries to call him and hears his phone ringing inside. She bangs again and wakes Dean, who was slumped on the floor and lets her in. She comments on him sleeping in his shoes. Dean insists he needs rest but Willow retorts that Colby’s freaking out and needs him. She leaves. Dean nearly takes another pill but instead goes out to find Willow waiting for him. They walk off together.

Irene serves Alf and Martha at the Diner. Martha comments on the fact she’ll be back home and apologises for her behaviour today. Alf tries to brush it off which leaves Martha thinking he’s embarassed by her. Alf spells it out to her: He wants her to stay. Upstairs, Colby is getting his uniform ready while Bella gives him a few teasing words of encouragement. Willow and Dean turn up and Bella goes off to bed. Colby remarks he hasn’t been back in uniform since Chelsea left and doesn’t know what she’d think of it but says Dean was right before: They need to suck it up.

Jasmine finds Tori preparing to move to Paul to Radiology, saying they’ll be harder to ignore if they’re camped in the corridor outside. Jasmine happily goes with her. On the Diner veranda, Alf joins Martha and asks her if she’s really just out there for the fresh air. Martha agrees being back in Summer Bay has been wonderful but says being back there permanently would be a huge adjustment. Alf says they could go somewhere else, or travel together, but Martha thinks it’s just a dream and she knows her limits. Alf continues to urge her to have a life with him but Martha continues to insist she can’t.

Jasmine and Tori return from Radiology, having got their scan. Tori also compliments Jasmine on clearing the other patients. An elderly nurse appears with a patient who was dumped outside: He has no ID but seems to have overdosed. They check him over and give him the appropriate medication, but when he comes round, he is agitated and has to be restrained. He kicks out and strikes Tori in the stomach. Jasmine rushes to help her.
