Extended Summary

Brody is standing in the middle of Salt, looking somewhat shell-shocked. Simone joins him and says she doesn’t know what she was thinking of. Brody wonders how he could have let the kiss go on so long and tells Simone to leave. Ziggy arrives; Brody doesn’t tell her anything but does get Simone to leave. He goes out onto the balcony to clear up. Ziggy follows and asks about the atmosphere; Brody says he and Simone just argued about a dish. Ziggy tells him about John and Dean’s stand-off and offers to help clear up but Brody puts her off by saying he’s going to clean the stoves and also tells her not to wait up. Back at the Morgan house, Justin tries to cheer Mason up by saying it doesn’t matter he missed the first round of internships. Mason says it’s not a case of first and second round: He didn’t get anything. He heads off to bed as Brody comes home. Justin doesn’t tell Brody what’s going on, instead asking about Ziggy. Brody says she’s probably asleep. After Justin’s gone, Brody gets a text, presumably from Simone, saying “I’m sorry”. He deletes it.

Next morning, Ben and Ziggy are on the beach. Ben is about to go and open up the shop. Ziggy tells him that Brody’s distant again and that he came home after she’d gone to sleep and left before she woke up. Ben thinks she should talk to him but Ziggy thinks she should just let it settle. At Salt, Brody is surprised when Simone turns up. She says she’s there to work and he agrees to go into the storeroom for a chat. Simone says sorry for kissing him, calling it a moment of madness. Brody tells her he’s pleased with her work and she doesn’t have to go, also telling her he didn’t tell Ziggy.

John and Marilyn come into the Diner where they are greeted by Alf, Irene and Leah. Marilyn complains about John coming in late when they’re meant to be driving to Canberra: They’re due to have dinner with Jett that evening followed by the parade and ceremony the next day. John says he had to keep an eye on Dean and Alf says he’s been conned. They all note they’re proud of Jett and Marilyn says she’ll get John to video the ceremony, then finds John’s nearly asleep. He asks Irene for a coffee and an energy drink. At Salt, Ziggy turns up and asks Brody to come to breakfast with her. Brody decides to go to the Diner and a somewhat disappointed Simone says she’ll let Matt know.

Justin comes in from feeding Buddy and tells Mason he spoke to Tori about him missing the internship and she’s not happy. She’s going to have a word but Mason doesn’t think it will do any good: She’s not involved with choosing interns and you can’t get around the process. The two of them head to the Diner where Justin tries to get Mason to join him and Brody for a coffee upstairs but Mason isn’t keen on further discussion. Leah comes over and calls Mason “Doctor Morgan”, asking when he’s going to start at the hospital.

Marilyn approaches Brody and Ziggy at the Diner and is surprised that Brody hasn’t eaten much, although they claim he’s leaving room for a muffin. Ziggy has chatted about cars a bit and suggests discussing Simone. Brody says Ziggy did nothing wrong and starts to say something but Ziggy suggests they keep work at work and he agrees. Irene comes over and tells Brody she was talking to Simone earlier and he’s a good boss for giving her a chance. Outside, Marilyn approaches Alf to discuss the tension between John and Ben and also mentions John still hasn’t turned up when they’re meant to be picking up Raffy and driving to Canberra. Alf isn’t keen on getting involved with the feud again but does agree to go and look for John.

Justin and Mason finish their coffees but Mason is keen to get going. Simone asks if they’ve heard from Brody. Justin thinks he’ll be with Ziggy and heads off to the garage. Simone remarks that she’s lost without Brody and Mason says he talks highly of her. He heads to the gym where Leah is lifting weights and gives her pointers on how best to do it. Leah apologises for putting her foot in it before but suggests he can do something else with his medical degree like become a paramedic. Mason snaps that he wanted to be a doctor and Tori had several offers: Everyone expected him to follow in her footsteps, including him.

Alf arrives at the surf club. Ben hasn’t seen John but says he’s told Dean no more midnight challenges. Alf finds John asleep in the office and blows a horn to wake him up. John says he’s just doing the rosters; Alf replies that those are invoices and he’s meant to be meeting Marilyn. John rushes out and the two of them meet Irene and Marilyn near the beach. Alf is quick to reveal that John was asleep so Marilyn had better drive. Alf and Irene watch as John and Marilyn drive off, still bickering.

Mason apologises to Leah as she’s leaving and she tells him he can talk to her if he needs to. Mason starts hitting a punch bag, half-heartedly at first and then more furiously before sagging. Out in the surf club, Leah chats to Ben about the board shop and the problems with John. Brody comes in with a box full of ingredients. Ben talks to him about Ziggy. Brody agrees he’s been spending too much time with Simone. Ben gives him advice on keeping work and personal life separate.

Brody reaches Salt and tells Simone he was simply busy with the supplier. She tries to say she’s not finding it easy to move on but Brody abruptly tells her to just get on with her trial although he seems uncomfortable around her, as if fighting an attraction. At the garage, Justin checks on Ziggy’s repairs and notes that she and Brody are both committed to their work. However, Ziggy says she’s willing to put up with Simone idolising Brody, since she’s only there for another six days, nine hours and twenty-four minutes.

Brody is standing alone outside the surf club. Simone joins him and he says it’s too hard: She has to go. Simone asks him to say he doesn’t feel something for her. Brody simply states they can’t work together anymore so Simone says she’ll pack her things.
