Extended Summary
Chelsea sarcastically congratulates Neil on his entrance, wondering if he put his uniform on specially. Neil asks if she thinks a voicemail is the best way to tell him about her engagement, before saying it’s not about that: She was supposed to be putting her career first but he now realises she came there for Colby. He sees Colby watching them and shuts the blind. Meanwhile, at the Diner, Raffy jokingly accuses Coco of snoring and keeping her awake and Coco retorts that it was probably a sugar rush from all the lollies Raffy ate. They discuss spending the previous evening with Ryder and watching a movie. Marilyn stops by the table to check Raffy doesn’t need to go home and has taken her medication.
Leah and Ziggy are setting up for filming. Brody says that he’s finished writing his statement and reads it out: He says that Raffy is back home but was diagnosed with epilepsy so he’s going to show them food that can alleviate seizures. Leah approves and has it posted on the site. Meanwhile, Maggie is walking stiffly into her living area and admits to Ben that she still feels sore after her last session. Ben suggests she take a rest day or two. Maggie wonders if she’s kidding herself and Ben reminds her that she wasn’t an athlete before the cancer and it’ll take time to get back to full strength.
Chelsea emerges from the office. Neil says that leaving the room doesn’t make the conversation over. Chelsea says that leaving the station does and tells Colby they need to get out on patrol. At the Diner, Raffy and Coco are approached by Alf and Roo who ask after her and say Ryder enjoyed their night, then realise they’re crowding her and back off. Raffy gets a notification on her phone that Abbi has tagged her on a post. She is horrified to read Brody’s message, saying he’s outted her. Marilyn annoys Raffy again by asking if she’s okay. Raffy storms out, with John following her.
Leah and Ziggy are filming the beginning of Brody’s spiel as he starts extolling cheeseburgers. Raffy bursts in, with John just behind her, and makes her feelings clear, saying they had no right to tell the world about her. A short time later, Leah tells them the post is down but Raffy says once it’s out there it’s out there. Brody, Leah and Ziggy are all apologetic but say they thought it might help people who’ve gone through the same thing. Raffy says people are always checking up on her since she was diagnosed and now no-one will treat her as normal. She storms out. John tells the others it wasn’t their story to tell before following her.
Ben and Maggie turn up at the Diner and Coco asks if Mason put Maggie through her pace. They tell her they’ve cancelled and Maggie isn’t going to do the State 8. Alf jokes that he was feeling inspired himself. Maggie says the important thing is to raise money for cancer and she can do it another way. Roo suggests a Vegas-style poker night and Irene a surf carnival but Maggie testily says she needs to do it herself and they back off. Marilyn gets a text from John saying Raffy’s upset so decides to join them, with Coco going with her. They head to the surf club where Marilyn immediately asks Raffy if she’s all right. John takes her aside on the pretext of getting juices and explains Raffy’s fed up of people fussing over her. Raffy gets a text from Patrick Wilson saying it sucks and he’ll see her at school. Coco says at least it’s nice but Raffy says she’s had thirty-two pity texts. Coco tells her to ignore them and in a couple of days it will have blown over. She heads off to meet her parents. Despite the advice, when Raffy gets another text she reads it.
Ben, Maggie and Coco arrive home with Maggie understanding how Raffy feels. Coco asks Maggie what she thought of Roo’s Vegas idea but Maggie clearly doesn’t want to discuss it and goes to lie down. Ben explains that Maggie sees the fundraiser as her thing, so she can find a purpose. Later, Coco approaches Maggie with the letter she wrote when she thought she might be dying. Coco says she’s better now so they can read it together. In it, Maggie says she’d regret not seeing the woman Coco becomes but also tells her to not be afraid to accept help from the people around her. Coco says it’s good advice.
Colby and Chelsea walk near the beach. Chelsea complains about Neil just turning up without warning. Colby jokingly asks if it reminds her of anyone. Chelsea admits she didn’t tell her family the whole story about their break-up and Colby realises they didn’t know he was a River Boy until the tribunal and didn’t know he lived in Summer Bay. He decides to go and talk to Neil and kisses her goodbye. Alf sees and asks if he’s all right as he walks past. At the Diner, Alf tells Irene and Roo that Chelsea and Colby are together. Ben and Maggie come in and Maggie apologises for earlier, asking them to help brainstorm ideas.
Brody is beating himself up, telling Leah and Ziggy that he should have spoken to Raffy first. He then gets a text from Raffy telling him to watch a live stream. At the surf club, John and Marilyn tell Alf and Roo they’ve lost Raffy before getting the same text. Up in Salt, Colby meets with Neil and tells him he loves Chelsea. Neil says he can see that, the question is how much: He thinks Chelsea is going places and Colby will just hold her back. Colby disagrees. Neil asks if Colby loves Chelsea more than his career, since Neil has friends high up in the police. Colby asks if that’s a threat. Neil tells him to think about it and leaves.
Raffy has set her phone up on the beach to make the stream. Leah, Brody and Ziggy watch her at the Morgan house, while Alf, Roo, John and Marilyn do the same at the surf club. Raffy talks about how she wants everyone to just act normal around her despite the epilepsy. Brody feels even more guilty while Roo notes most of the live comments from her classmates are positive but Abbi Simmons just keeps posting abuse. Raffy becomes increasingly distracted, before collapsing from a seizure. Brody and Ziggy rush out, as do Alf, John and Marilyn. Raffy carries on fitting in full view of everyone.
