Extended Summary
Chelsea is sat on the sofa looking through bridal magazines. She admits to Colby that she’s having trouble deciding on a venue. Colby suggests a brewery and Chelsea notes at least it would be easy. Colby senses something is on her mind and she admits she hasn’t told her family about the engagement…or even that they’re back together, they just think she’s there for a sea change. Her dad didn’t take the news of his River Boy past well but she thinks they’ll be happy she’s happy. She is about to call him when Willow turns up asking to talk to Colby. Downstairs, on the Diner veranda, Leah approaches Brody and Ziggy and tells them there have been a lot of comments and questions on Brody’s video. Brody says to tell them he’s married. Leah says they’re mostly about Raffy and wonders if he can do another video. With Ziggy’s agreement, Brody says he’ll do one more and agrees to doing a recipe for epileptics.
Nearby, Colby is shocked when Willow tells him she’s staying away from Dean. She says Justin has to be her priority and he told her to choose between them. Colby is unimpressed but Willow thinks she’s focused too much on Dean. She tells Colby about him going to see his dad and asks him to keep an eye on him. At the Morgan house, Justin is distracted while Marilyn packs a bag for a sleepover for Raffy and Coco. As she leaves, Brody and Ziggy turn up. Justin tells them about his ultimatum to Willow. Ziggy describes it as a bold and potentially stupid move. Willow turns up and suggests she and Justin go for a drink.
Willow and Justin go to Salt where Willow tells Justin it’s done: She told Dean they can’t hang out anymore and has chosen him. Justin is pleased. At the Diner flat, Colby complains to Chelsea about Justin’s behaviour. When he mentions Willow and Dean’s recent relationship, Chelsea says she understands Justin’s point since she wouldn’t be happy about Colby hanging out with an ex. Colby protests it’s not as simple as that and Chelsea interrupts with a pastiche of an “us lot from Mangrove River were family to each other” speech. Colby asks if she’s called her dad and she says she’ll do it in the morning.
Next morning, Justin and Colby run into each other on the beach. Justin congratulates Colby on his engagement but Colby asks if he should invite Justin since Dean is going to be there, making it clear he disapproves of Justin’s demand. Justin says Willow and Dean aren’t family, they were friends with benefits. They both accuse the other of interfering in relationships. At the Diner, Marilyn thanks Willow for giving Raffy the music voucher. Chelsea comes in and confirms to Willow that Colby told her about Dean and Justin. She also fills her in on the problem with her parents, saying her dad wanted her to marry Colby a year ago but after the break-up she told him Colby wasn’t who she thought he was. She adds that as a police inspector her dad knows all about Colby’s River Boy past. Willow gets a text from Justin and goes to meet him. Chelsea calls her dad but gets his voicemail. She says she called to see how she is… before adding that she’s engaged to Colby.
Chelsea goes up to the flat where Colby is doing the laundry and commenting on the ease of getting their uniforms mixed up. He asks if she told her dad and Chelsea says she did but he didn’t say much, before admitting that she left a voicemail. She also mentions her encounter with Willow. Downstairs in the Diner, Leah and Ziggy are working out what ingredients they can use in Brody’s recipe and telling Marilyn about a ketogenic diet. Alf suggests they leave the recipe to the chef and teasingly says he’s always thought of Leah as more of a cook.
Brody takes a call from Leah and Ziggy at Salt where they tell him what they’ve found. Brody says he can make something with the ingredients, although he’s not sure it will be edible. Nearby, Justin tells Willow about Colby having a go. Willow asks if he also wants her to stay away from Colby and says that he told her to stay away from Dean and then brought him up. She storms out and Brody follows, saying he’s worried about her recovery. Willow says she doesn’t regret the decision she’s made, she just needs to get used to it. Brody says she’s doing the right thing, going to meetings and doing what’s right for her.
Brody heads back up to Salt and indicates to Justin that Willow’s having difficulties. Justin insists it was the only option since Willow and Dean keep getting dragged into each other’s messes. Brody suggests he explain his position better. Justin invites Willow round where he says he could have dealt with things better. Willow apologises for always making Dean the priority. Justin says she can’t just say what he wants to hear. Willow says she wants to be with him and move on but it’s going to take time to get used to not having Dean around. They hug and kiss.
Willow goes to see Colby at the police station and tells him she heard what he said to Justin. Colby thinks she might regret her decision but Willow firmly tells him she wants to be with Justin and advises he stay out of it. Chelsea checks on Colby, then gets a call from her dad which she ignores. Meanwhile, Brody is practising his intro in the Salt storeroom, to the amusement of Leah and Ziggy when they walk in on him. Brody says he’s got it narrowed down to salmon with almond peschew or cheeseburgers. He has also prepared a statement on Raffy’s condition for Leah to post. He is worried about messing up but Ziggy says it was his honesty that attracted people last time.
Colby questions Chelsea about ignoring calls from her dad. Chelsea says she just didn’t want to discuss it at work. At that moment, her dad, Neil, turns up. Colby tries to greet him in a friendly manner but Neil tells him to call him Inspector Campbell and wants to speak to Chelsea alone.
