Extended Summary

Mason runs after Dempsey, telling her he didn’t mean to upset her and was just giving his opinion. Dempsey says she’ll let him know what she decides and leaves. Outside the Diner, Leah runs into Tori and asks how it went. Tori says her family were fine with it once they got over the shock. However, she’s simply on the waiting list at the clinic and can’t even access the list of donors yet.

Marilyn asks Raffy if she’s seen the dust buster and Raffy says John had it. She suggests Marilyn ask him where it is but Marilyn seems keen for Raffy to do it. After Marilyn has gone out and John has come in, Raffy dutifully obliges and John says it’s in the shed. He wonders what Marilyn’s doing for dinner. Raffy suggests one of them should ask her and John says to let him know what she says. Meanwhile, Alf finds Hunter sitting outside the bait shop and wonders what happened to his training. Hunter says Christina’s meant to be sorting him out a new mentor but keeps making excuses. He then gets a text from her saying the mentor will meet him outside the surf club.

Inside the Diner, Tori tells Leah she’s called the clinic asking about the timetable and reflects on how it’s karma for all the times she’s told people to be patient with results. Leah suggests she takes the time to work out what characteristics she wants the donor to have. Alf comes in and tells Leah Hunter’s news; Leah is relieved he seems to be getting rid of Christina. However, when Hunter turns up for the meeting, he finds Christina there and quickly realises she lied about the new mentor. She asks him to hear her out.

Leah looks over Tori’s list of characteristics and is amused that she’s basically described Ash, joking that he’d be a good father. Tori admits that she doesn’t really need to know that much about the father’s personality but thinks health information doesn’t tell her much. Leah points out she doesn’t have to like him but Tori is uncomfortable with not having any sort of relationship with the father. Tori heads home where Mason is looking up fathers’ rights. He tells Tori he told Dempsey he wanted the baby and she freaked out, not sure what she wants. Tori reminds him he doesn’t have any rights until the baby’s born and advises him to give her time. Mason decides to go to the gym.

Hunter and Christina have an uncomfortable drink at Salt. Christina says she’s filed for divorce; Hunter is unimpressed but she says her marriage was never a great love story and Hunter was a wake-up call. Hunter feels she used him and is unhappy she lied. Christina insists she wants to be with him and asks him to give her a chance. Hunter heads to the Diner and tells Alf and Leah that Christina set him up. Leah is angry but Hunter asks her not to give him any advice and says he’s going to the gym. Alf tells Leah to let Hunter handle it.

Hunter and Mason spot each other lifting weights at the gym. Mason talks about what he said to Dempsey and her reaction. Hunter says Mason’s handling it well, recalling his and Olivia’s reaction to her pregnancy. Mason admits he’s actually pretty scared. Hunter suggests he tell Dempsey that, before starting to talk about Christina. Mason meets Dempsey on the beach and apologises. She says she’s still deciding and he can’t push her. Mason admits he gets knots in his stomach thinking about it.

Raffy, Coco and Ryder are sitting on the wharf. Raffy has been sent some photos by Ty and says he seems to be happy with his mother. Ryder is eager to see them and Coco notes she caught him listening to Ty’s music. Marilyn comes over and Raffy tells her John was wondering about dinner. Marilyn says she won’t be home so John will have to make something himself. Raffy tells her friends that John and Marilyn miss Ty more than they do. Meanwhile, Leah comes into Salt in time to hear Tori’s side of a phone conversation with the clinic: She has to wait six months or more. Tori says she wants to get moving now she’s told her family and is worried that the delay will affect her fertility.

Mason and Dempsey walk on the wharf. They reflect on how if things don’t work out between them it’ll be hard to get dates with anyone else. Dempsey says getting pregnant wasn’t part of her plan for the future but by the same token she sees parents getting excited at work. Mason reiterates that he’s willing to co-parent and they agree that they’ve got time. Back at Salt, Tori admits that she’s worried she’s lost her mind and feels like she’s in limbo. Leah says that waiting around is part of being a parent and not to give up.

Raffy, Coco and Ryder come into the surf club and Raffy approaches John, giving an even blunter precise of Marilyn’s message about making his own dinner. John starts to give her a reply to pass on but Alf steps in, saying he can just phone Marilyn. John apologises and tells Raffy she can go; she and her friends head out. Alf asks John what’s going on with Marilyn. John still thinks she was wrong to try and replace Ty and says whenever they talk it turns into an argument. Outside, Ryder and Coco try to reassure Raffy, with saying John and Marilyn are the adults and it’s not her problem. Raffy says she can’t stand by while her family falls apart and they agree to help her.

Hunter meets Christina and says he still has feelings for her but experience has taught him once the trust has gone you can’t get it back. He still wants her to find him a new mentor and transfer him to another class. Christina says if she does that then questions will be asked and it’ll hurt her career. Hunter says if she doesn’t he’ll go to the head of faculty. He heads to the Diner and fills in Alf, Leah and Marilyn. He says Christina was upset but thinks it’s sorted, then gets a call from the university. While he’s answering it, Alf congratulates Leah on staying out of it. Hunter comes back and says he’s been dropped from consideration for the placement on Christina’s recommendation.
