Colby discovers the phone planted in Willow’s van. Will Robbo successfully catch Ebony in a lie? Ash considers an impromptu trip to Cyprus.
Extended Summary
Ash and Justin are working in the garage. Ash becomes increasingly frustrated at a stuck bolt. Justin tells him to soak it overnight and reminds him he’s meant to be working out what to do with his life. He suggests they go for a beer after work. At Salt, Willow wonders where Dean got the money from but he won’t say. She agrees to stop gambling. They pass Justin and Ash as they leave and Ash comments on Justin and Dean managing not to hit each other. Leah approaches Ash and tells him she’s going to see VJ and Luc in Cyprus, with an aunt’s birthday as an excuse, and offers to pass something on to Luc. She mentions that Luc’s now talking.
Robbo is cooking while Colby paces. Ebony turns up and says she was going to invite Robbo out to dinner. He invites her to stay instead. She asks Colby how he’s getting on and they explain to Robbo his plan to track the phone. Robbo isn’t keen but Colby says he has to do something. Robbo is surprised he confided in Ebony. Back at the surf club, Justin and Ash are playing pool. Ash has clearly been thrown by his conversation with Leah and wonders if Luc even remembers him. Justin assures him that VJ won’t let her forget him.
Next morning, Willow wakes up with Dean, who opens his eyes suddenly, revealing he’s been awake some time. Willow realises she’s late for breakfast with Russell and quickly dresses and hurries out. Dean also starts getting dressed and, while retrieving his shorts, finds the phone under the bed with photos of him and Colby on it. At the Diner, Justin is once again arguing with the police on the phone. He complains to Colby about their inability to find Hazel. Colby offers to ask Murray about it when he sees him. Robbo gives Colby a coffee and tries to get him to avoid doing anything that will get him in more trouble with McCarthy. He says he’ll look into it himself.
Justin has managed to get the car going as Ash arrives at the garage. Ash tells him he’s going to Cyprus and isn’t sure when he’s coming back: He’s leaving. They head to Salt where Justin accuses Ash of running away but Ash insists that’s not the case. Justin spots Colby at the bar and asks if he’s heard from Murray. He also notes Colby drinking in the middle of the day and tries to get him to focus on his appeal. Colby gets a text from Murray with the phone trace and drags Justin with him to follow it.
Willow arrives back at her van to find Dean with the phone. She insists she hasn’t seen it before. Justin and Colby approach with the tracker. Colby finds the pair with the phone and accuses Willow of destroying his career. Dean claims it’s his phone and says if Colby goes to the police he’ll tell them the truth about the car crash. Justin drags Colby away, taking the phone with them. Ebony watches, looking satisfied. Justin and Colby end up at the surf club. Colby still wants to go to the police, saying Dean has no proof, but Justin points out it won’t help his case, since the photos are still genuine, and will just land him and Murray in more trouble. He convinces Colby to go and cool off. Robbo turns up; neither he nor Justin really believes Willow and Dean are behind things. Robbo asks if Justin knows where Ebony lives.
Robbo goes to Ebony’s motel room. Inside, Ebony is telling Hazel that Colby’s now isolated. Hazel sees Robbo’s shadow against the curtains; they have plans laid out on the bed. Robbo knocks and Ebony eventually answers, saying she was tidying. (There is no sign of the plans or Hazel.) Robbo wonders why she didn’t tell him about the place and Ebony says she wanted some privacy. She claims she has a shift at Salt so he can’t stay long. Robbo asks to use the bathroom but ends up dropping it. After he’s gone, Hazel emerges and scoffs at Ebony being in control. At the Diner, Willow is unhappy with Dean for claiming the phone was his. Dean admits he thought she might be blackmailing Colby after the stealing and gambling, but believes her. They wonder who planted the phone.
Hazel is unhappy about another close call and thinks that Robbo’s dangerous. Ebony insists that he’s not a threat. She says that she’s going to make sure Colby pays and getting close to Robbo helps her do that. Meanwhile, Robbo arrives back at the flat. He tells Colby he’s following a lead and wonders if someone might have it in for Colby, Willow and Dean. Colby says he’s going to the city for a few days to talk to his advocate. After he’s gone, Robbo rings Lance and asks him to look into Ebony Harding.
Ash turns up at the garage and tells Justin he’s booked his ticket to Cyprus. Justin is fine with it, but feels the need to specify Dean isn’t going to cover for him, until he sees the ticket is one way and is annoyed at Ash abandoning the business. Ash says it’s time to move on: He’s going to Cyprus first and then on from there. Justin wonders what Tori thinks and Ash admits he hasn’t told her.
