Extended Summary

Ash and Kat have arrived back on the wharf. Kat guesses that Beckett was sent to kill her and almost breaks down at the idea. Ash thinks they should tell McCarthy or Shepherd what they’ve found. He asks Kat what she wants to do. Kat doesn’t know, believing that Robbo isn’t the same person as Beckett. She gets a phone call from him which she ignores but insists Robbo’s a good man now. Robbo is outside the surf club and leaves a message for Kat saying it’s the longest breakfast on record. John appears and asks Robbo if he’s okay. Robbo says he isn’t but there’s nothing John can do.

Ryder is on the phone to Roo as he, Raffy and Coco make banners, promising he’ll be home soon. They quickly clear everything away as Ben and Maggie come home. They claim they were working on an art project organised by the local library. Ben says he’ll drive Raffy and Ryder home, while Maggie notes it’s good to see Coco doing something other than protesting. Meanwhile, Ash takes Kat back to his place. Kat is uncertain, especially since Robbo knows she was with Ash so might come there. Ash still favours going to the police but Kat isn’t sure. He tells her to sleep in his bed while he has the couch and sends Robbo a text from Kat’s phone saying she’s all right and will explain in the morning. Robbo gets home as he receives the text and throws the phone down in annoyance.

Next morning, Irene comes downstairs and notices the sheets on the sofa, guessing that Kat stayed the night. Ash tells her that Kat’s in trouble and they might need to involve the police. He takes Kat breakfast in her room and they admit that neither of them got much sleep. He asks if she’s decided to go to the police but she says she wants to do things her way and has a plan. Ash disagrees with her wanting to talk to Robbo herself first, thinking he’s dangerous. Kat replies that Robbo’s only ever protected her. Ash replies that he’s a liar and if Kat doesn’t go to the police, he will. Kat says they’ll go together after she gets changed.

Ben and Maggie go into the Diner with Maggie suspecting Coco was up to something. They spy Roo and she comments on Ben getting Ryder back only an hour after his curfew. She asks Maggie about enrolling Ryder in Summer Bay High, saying he dropped out in Year 11 so would have to repeat. Alf is bemused when Marilyn gives him his takeaway coffee in a pink mug, saying it’s Coco’s new initiative and to bring it back. At that moment, Coco, Ryder and Raffy lead a group of teens onto the beach outside, shouting environmentalist slogans. Alf, Irene, Roo, Marilyn, Ben and Maggie go out to meet them and Coco complains about the lack of recycling. Maggie tries to get them inside to talk it over but Coco and Ryder dismiss it as corporate speak from “the man”. Soon after, Coco is relaying statistics through a megaphone while the adults sit inside commenting on the lack of breakfast trade. Roo and Marilyn try to be positive but Alf and Irene are disgruntled. Marilyn says she has an idea.

Kat emerges and tells Ash she’s going to go on her own: Ash broke into Robbo’s flat and car so could get in trouble. Ash tries to get her to take his car but she points out it has the gun, money and tackle box in it and she doesn’t want him moving them. She says she’ll call Murray and then meet Ash outside the station. Some time later, Robbo goes into Salt and looks around. He eventually spots Ash at the bar and asks him where Kat is. Ash refuses to give him any information, reminding him he told him to stay out of it. Meanwhile, Kat goes to the Diner flat and, on realising Robbo isn’t there, texts him and tells him to meet her there.

Coco and Ryder shoot each other looks during her speeches and Raffy tells Ryder not to try too hard. The adults emerge and Ben takes the megaphone off Coco. Marilyn stands on a box and offers to negotiate, wondering what the protestors actually want. Coco wants to get rid of plastic straws and Ryder suggests using paper ones instead. Coco also wants them to stop using disposable cutlery. They look to Marilyn for an answer. Soon after, Ben, Maggie, Coco, Ryder and Raffy head back to the farm. Coco has agreed to find quotes for Irene as part of her deal. Ben tells them he’s proud of them and Ryder suggests a party, but is bemused that Coco’s idea consists of board games and veggie sticks. Ben and Maggie go to drink outside, with Maggie dropping hints about having a gazebo. Raffy tells Ryder that he and Coco like each other; the news interests him but he chooses not to act on it yet.

Robbo arrives home and meets Kat, asking her what’s going on. She replies that she knows who he is: Novak’s associate, Beckett Reid. Downstairs, Ash tells Irene that Kat has gone to the police and he’s expecting them to come for Robbo soon. Irene tells him about the protest and accepts that the youngsters should have a say in the world they’re inheriting. She checks he only let Kat stay because of the trouble she’s in and asks if Tori knows; he says he’s kept her out of it.

Kat tries to convince Robbo to come to the police with her, saying they can explain to McCarthy that he doesn’t remember what he did as Beckett. Robbo doesn’t think it matters and says there are things Kat doesn’t know. Kat realises he already knew he was Beckett. She goes to leave but Robbo stops her, insisting she listens to him.
