Quinn makes a difficult decision about Ryder’s future. Will Ash open Kat’s eyes to the real Robbo? A new, confident Coco returns home with a secret.
Extended Summary
Quinn immediately goes on the defence upon hearing Roo and Alf’s offer that Ryder live with them. She can’t help but take it personally – they don’t think she’s fit to raise her own son. Alf reaches out to Quinn, and explains that this is not the case. He agrees that sometimes Roo can be bossy, but she definitely wasn’t trying to be condescending, she genuinely wants what is best for both of them. When Quinn arrives back at the house, she tells Ryder about Roo and Alf’s offer to gauge how he feels. She makes it clear that she is not trying to abandon him, she just wants him to be happy, and have the stability and family that he’s never had, but clearly yearns for. Although Ryder is upset by the prospect of not seeing his mum, he decides to stay and live with Alf and Roo. Upon hearing the news, the Stewarts have a farewell lunch for Quinn, where Ryder introduces Coco and Raffy to his mum. She is pleased to see that he has friends here, and is confident in her decision that he’ll be happy. Quinn says her farewells to the Stewarts, and promises to visit more often.
Kat comes to see Ash as he requested, wondering what the hell is going on. Ash tries to make Kat see that Robbo isn’t the guy she thinks he is. Ash shows Kat the cash and gun that he found in Robbo’s car, and tells her about the runner he was planning to do. Kat is shaken and outraged by Ash’s audacity, but can’t ignore the truth staring her in the face. Robbo is clearly hiding something from her. At the diner, Robbo senses Marilyn’s unease around him after the police raid. He tries to be friendly and put her at ease, but it’s to no avail. When Kat arrives to join Robbo, she also seems uneasy. Back at the apartment, Robbo checks his laptop, and can tell that it has been used since his departure. He checks the security footage from the camera planted in the apartment, and discovers that Ash has riffled through their stuff. Robbo later sees Kat and Ash talking secretively while he is out on a run. Robbo approaches Ash when he is on his own and aggressively tells him to stop putting ideas in Kat’s head.
Coco arrives home from her time away at Diana’s house; she is very cheery and confident, almost like a new person. She immediately heads off to hang out with Raffy and Ryder, leaving Ben and Maggie impressed that she is being more sociable. At the surf club, Raffy and Ryder joke about all the boring stuff they assume Coco did with her gran. Turns out Coco got up to something mischievous. But what? Raffy suspects that Coco still likes Ryder, but she denies it. As Maggie is doing the washing, she discovers a newspaper article which causes her to call Coco home immediately. Ben and Maggie confront Coco about what they have found; on the front cover of the newspaper is a photo of Coco protesting at a local rally. Ben and Maggie are not impressed, and demand an explanation.
