Extended Summary

Robbo is working at the caravan park with an electric saw (shirtless, naturally). Kat comes out of her caravan and he explains about Alf giving him a job. Scarlett approaches as Robbo awkwardly says he’d better get back to work. Scarlett notices Kat ogling him as he walks away. At the hospital, Tori tries to gee Mason up with the news that Zannis is gone for good but Mason shows little interest. Tori points out Brody nearly died but Mason retorts that he nearly took three innocent people with him, adding it’s hard to feel charitable when Brody’s okay and he’s stuck in there. He also turns down her offer to take him to the cafeteria in a wheelchair, getting so heated that Justin has to come in and intervene. A young woman watches the incident from the corridor.

Hunter and Olivia wait in Salt until Wally joins them. He says that Claire was disappointed that Hunter didn’t take the money but has agreed to them spending time together. He suggests that there’s something else he could do to help Hunter: Give him a job after graduation, working for his medical supply company. Olivia tries to generate some enthusiasm about the idea but it’s a bit of an uphill battle, although Hunter does agree to think about it. Downstairs, Kat and Scarlett discuss Robbo; Scarlett is still wary of him, despite Kat pointing out his heroism the previous day. She admits she and Ash are having troubles and also admits she had romantic thoughts about Robbo, although she stresses that he simply walked her home. Scarlett says that even thinking about it isn’t a good sign.

Kat goes to the Diner flat where she finds Ash has cooked for her. She tells him he shouldn’t have. Ash says he just wants to get back to the good times but Kat says she can’t even remember when they were. She thinks they were right to break up and things haven’t been working for ages: They need to admit that it’s over. Back at the hospital, Justin tries to encourage Mason but he refuses to leave the room unless he can walk out. The young woman who was in the corridor earlier comes in, now wearing nurse’s uniform, and introduces herself as Beth. She sends Justin out and checks Mason’s chart only to pronounce it boring, then jokes about doing a prostrate examination. She says she just wants to know what his problem is.

Kat tells Ash that since they’ve got back together there has only been one week where things were actually good. Ash protests that he’s done everything she wanted, including cutting ties with Tori. Kat says they were having problems before Tori came along. Ash loses his temper and yells at Kat to get out. Kat goes to Scarlett’s caravan with a bottle and knocks on the door but gets no response. Robbo sees her but she brushes aside his attempt to talk to her.

Wally points out to Hunter that medical supplies aren’t that different from being a sports physio and says learning about sales could be useful. Olivia continues to try to enthuse without much effect. Hunter says he’s thinking of becoming a basketball coach or at least working for a team. Wally says there’s not much money except for the players and suggests he’d be better off getting a real job, adding that only about 1% of the population get jobs in basketball. Olivia, with forced chirpiness, says that you can try and Wally doesn’t help matters by agreeing that you can dream. Olivia ends the tension by taking Hunter to get teas. At the Diner, Scarlett expresses her disbelief that Alf gave Robbo a job. Alf reminds her he’s a hero and adds that he’s come to town not having a clue who he is and they need to help him out. Nearby, Tori runs into Ash and Luc. Ash tells her about the break-up, adding that Kat said it was nothing to do with Tori.

Kat is alone in her caravan when Robbo comes in with a bottle. Kat is frustrated that he assumes she’s upset about a break-up but agrees to him staying so she doesn’t have to drink alone. Robbo tells her that anyone who let her go would be a fool. Kat first tells him to go, then kisses him. Meanwhile, Ash is drinking alone in the flat and looks at his phone backdrop which has a picture of him and Kat. Tori knocks on the door of Kat’s van; inside, Kat and Robbo sit up as if interrupted (Robbo has his shirt off and Kat has some of her buttons undone). Tori hears movement and, guessing Kat’s in there, tells her it’s not too late if she wants to get back with Ash. Tori leaves and Kat tells Robbo to go as well.

Wally, Hunter and Olivia come downstairs at the surf club, with Wally wryly noting that teens aren’t any more interested in medical supplies than bird watching. Hunter invites him to go for a swim; Wally declines but suggests they meet for a drink later. After he’s gone, Hunter tells Olivia that he wishes he’d taken the money, since he and Wally have nothing in common. Olivia encourages him to persevere, saying James is into model trains but she still loves him. Hunter replies that he’s been looking for his father his whole life and needs something to come of it. At the caravan park, Scarlett approaches Robbo and tells him she used to do legal aid work, offering to see if she can find out anything about him. Robbo agrees. After she’s left, Kat comes over and apologises, saying what happened was a mistake and won’t happen again.

Beth gets Mason to pull faces, supposedly as exercise but really as a prank. He tells her he doesn’t like having to ask people for help and Beth replies that people seem to be offering help. She convinces him to let her take him for a ride in the wheelchair, with him screaming in a combination of delight and terror as she speeds around corners…although he also notices she seems short of breath. Justin and Tori look on, bemused. Later, a more relaxed Mason fills them in on the encounter. Although they are pleased that he’s in a better mood, Tori is certain that there isn’t an emergency nurse called Beth.

Hunter and Olivia are waiting in Salt again. Hunter suggests he did what he intended by finding his father but Olivia corrects him: What he wanted was to have a relationship with his father. She suggests that he be honest and Hunter sarcastically imagines telling Wally that he doesn’t like him and wishes he’d never found him… then realises that Wally has just come in and heard everything.
