Zannis’ kidnapping of Ziggy and Brody is interrupted. Ben and Maggie struggle to get their plans approved. Will Robbo’s memory return?

Extended Summary

Kat and Tori run into each other near the surf club; Tori has just returned from the conference, which she doesn’t seem to have enjoyed. She hasn’t had a chance to see Brody yet so they swap notes on him keeping his outpatients appointments at rehab. After a further attempt at small talk, with Tori complimenting Kat’s new swimmers, Tori says she has to go home. Kat bumps into Robbo a few feet away but their conversation is even briefer. Meanwhile, Brody arrives home from taking Buddy for a walk. He goes to the bathroom and has flashbacks of arguments he had with Justin, Tori and Raffy. Tori comes home and they greet each other in a friendly but awkward manner. Tori gives him a pen she brought back from her trip, which says “Let’s beat diabetes”, and says it was the best she could find. They both start laughing and hug.

Ben gets a phone message and tells Maggie it was from Lachlan at the council planning department; he assumes that it means their application has been passed. They reflect on how well things are going now, with Ziggy happy and Coco coping with her suspension. At that moment, Zannis pulls into the car park of a motel with Ziggy captive in the back of the car. He tells her not to say anything when a woman walks nearby, saying no-one will get hurt. He tells her to text Brody and get him to meet them but Ziggy refuses, realising he intends to harm Brody. She also refuses to give him the pass code for the phone. Zannis and Faz take her to a room.

At the Diner, Alf chats to Irene and Marilyn about the decision not to oppose the Astonis’ renovations. John comes in and complains about Robbo sitting in the corner looking miserable. Marilyn drags him over to see Robbo, who thinks they want the table. Marilyn thinks he need a job to occupy him but Robbo has no idea what he’s good at. Marilyn suggests they find out. Back at the Morgan house, Tori is making Brody coffee. She feels bad about not believing him about Zannis but Brody reassures her. She offers to make dinner since Justin’s at the hospital and wonders what his plans are. Brody realises that Salt has been sold and Tori confirms that Felicity bought it. Brody abruptly says he has to go out since he hasn’t done his bail sign-in yet.

Zannis tries to persuade Ziggy to co-operate with him but she continues to refuse. Zannis tells Faz to convince her and he puts a gun on the table next to him. Ziggy tells Zannis the passcode. At the surf club, Brody tells Irene that things are difficult at home with the pressure Tori’s putting him under. He gets a text, supposedly from Ziggy, inviting him to the motel. Irene advises him against going. Kat comes in and offers Brody a lift to the station for his check-in but he says he has other things to do first. Meanwhile, Ziggy is being tied up, despite Zannis having claimed she could leave if she sent the message. He gets a reply from Brody saying he’s on his way.

Lachlan turns up at the farmhouse. Ben and Maggie think he’s going to say there’s been quick progress but he admits there’s been progress of a different kind, saying someone has made an application for the pier to be made a heritage site. They won’t be able to do any work while the application is considered, which could take months, and if it passes there will be severe limits to what they can change. Lachlan says he doesn’t know who’s behind it but Ben thinks he knows. He drives to the caravan park house and angrily accuses Alf. Alf denies it and Ben quickly backs down. Alf offers to contact his friends on the council to see what he can find out.

Irene arrives back at the Diner and finds Marilyn has put Robbo to work in the kitchen in case it turns out he’s a chef. The fact that most things seem to have been burnt isn’t promising. Marilyn wonders if he’s a fireman and Irene wonders if he’s a stripper. John and Kat come in (separately) and are both bemused. Marilyn convinces John to give Robbo work at the surf club. Soon after, he is moving boxes of stock as an unpaid trial. He takes off his shirt, leaving only a singlet, which Marilyn seems to appreciate. John quickly tells him to put it back on and suggests they see if he can drive a bus.

Ziggy works her bonds loose as Faz frets about Brody’s no-show. Ziggy makes a run for the door but is quickly grabbed and held down. Brody knocks on the door and Zannis tells Ziggy to tell him to come in. She does and Brody is promptly grabbed by Faz; his already futile struggles cease when Zannis threatens to hurt Ziggy. Back at the farm, Ben admits to Maggie that he was wrong about Alf. Maggie doesn’t think that it was Leah or Irene. Alf arrives and tells them he’s found out who made the application: Nick Dutton. Maggie quickly makes the connection with Jennifer’s suspension.

Kat runs into Tori at the surf club and tells her that Brody missed his check-in. Tori is confused, since Brody left for it ages ago. She tries to call him but it goes straight to voicemail. Outside, John has got Robbo in a van and is giving him long and repetitive instructions, including to stay in the car park because they don’t know if he’s got a license. Irene and Marilyn’s frustrated interjections add to the noise and when Robbo finally starts, he reverses straight into Kat’s police car.

Brody and Ziggy are now both securely tied up. Brody repeatedly tries to get Zannis to let Ziggy go but Zannis isn’t interested. Brody is angry that Zannis is still after revenge after what happened to Mason. Zannis says he’s lost everything. Brody thinks he’s got money squirrelled away to start again but Zannis says there are roadblocks everywhere and the airports are watched, so he can’t go anywhere. He produces a bottle of alcohol and sachets of drugs and says they’re both going to go down as pathetic junkies. Meanwhile, John and Marilyn argue over whose fault the accident was. Kat says Robbo needs to come down the station, since he damaged a police car while driving without a license. She gets a message over the radio about Brody missing his check-in and Irene says she might know where he is. At the same time, Tori goes to the Diner looking for Brody and compares notes with Alf.

In the motel room, Faz pours the contents of the bottle over Brody. The police car draws up outside and Kat tells Robbo to wait there while she sees the manager. Brody lunges for Zannis and is quickly held down, with Zannis saying he can go first. Kat tells Robbo that there’s a room booked in Ziggy’s name; they both assume Brody is with her. Zannis explains that if both Brody and Ziggy are both found death, the police will assume Brody went back to old habits and not realise Zannis is involved. Faz is about to force the drugs down Brody’s throat when Kat knocks on the door.
