Extended Summary
Zannis is about to pour a second vial of a clear liquid into the Morgan’s water jug when the family arrives home, forcing him to leave quickly.
Ash struggles to calm a whinging Luc alone at the pier apartment. He tries begging Kat to come home and help, but she’s working late on the drug case. It’s clear Kat’s prioritisation of work over helping with Luc is getting to Ash. When Kat arrives home with dinner, Ash complains that she hasn’t been helping with Luc. He knows he said Luc wouldn’t change anything but surely the other cops can take some of the load. Kat argues that she could make detective if she gets a good result with the drug ring, which would be great for her career. Ash understands, but he still wants her to help more. Kat’s caught between a rock and a hard place. In the morning, Kat is super awkward around Luc and Ash is a bit miffed she can’t go to Luc’s four month check up because of work. Later, Ash is again upset when Kat’s too busy at the station to allocate much time to talk about Luc’s great test results. Ash feels Kat’s abandoning them while Kat feels this isn’t what they’d agreed to.
At the station, Kat asks Murray to check Zannis’ phone records. She wants Zannis caught. Meanwhile at Salt, Brody feels good about telling Zannis to leave him alone and decides he’s ready to start working behind the bar at Salt again. Kat picks up dinner and asks if Brody’s seen Zannis before. Brody lies and denies recognising him. The next morning, Brody heads into Salt to work. Zannis intercepts him and pointedly asks how the family’s doing, implying he was inside the Morgan’s house. He drives off, leaving Brody wondering what Zannis has done. Then he receives a call from Nate. Brody rushes to the hospital and finds Mason and Nate hovering over Tori’s hospital bed. She claims she’s fine. Brody stresses about where Justin and Raffy are, secretly worried Zannis could be after them. The doctor explains Tori had a high level of potassium in her blood, which caused an arrhythmia, but they don’t know how her potassium levels got that high. Brody keeps his suspicions to himself. At home, Brody rummages through the fridge and finds the water jug, he sniffs it. Zannis interrupts, threatening. He could have killed Brody’s sister, but he didn’t. This time. Zannis has rescheduled the drug delivery for Salt this afternoon. Brody tells Zannis to leave his family alone. Brody’s left feeling like he has no choice but to cooperate with Zannis. At the station, Murray has Zannis’ phone records. Kat’s not pleased to learn that Zannis has been in regular contact with Brody Morgan. She now knows Brody lied to her earlier at Salt. Brody works the bar at Salt and receives a package. He opens it in the storeroom and makes a call to Zannis, he wants Zannis to get the gear out of Salt asap. Kat enters Salt looking for Brody and knocks on the storeroom door. Brody hides the drugs under a box and opens the door to find Kat in his face. Kat immediately lets Brody know he lied to her. But why?
John organises an appointment with a psychologist, Dr Bailey Voss. Nate thinks talking to someone will do him good. In the morning, John has second thoughts about seeing a shrink, but Alf uses his experience to encourage him to go through with it and offers to accompany him to the appointment. John meets his psychologist and is surprised at how young he is, but Alf’s confident the young doctor can help. John tells Dr Voss his son thought counselling might help him shake the horrible feeling he has after the fires. After some gentle questions from Dr Voss, John grows uncomfortable and leaves, claiming he thinks the young doctor is too inexperienced to help.
Tori and Nate argue as they enter the house and Nate eventually leaves, angry at their situation. Nate admits to John that he thinks they should break up. John advises that if that’s what he feels, he shouldn’t wait to make it official. Nate visits Tori, they need to talk. Tori knows what that means. She takes a big gulp of water from the jug Zannis interfered with. Before Tori can react to Nate’s decision, she falls ill. Nate springs into action and calls an ambulance. The hospital finds Tori has high levels of potassium which caused an arrythmia, but they’re not sure why her levels were so high. Later, after Tori is given the all clear, she apologises to Nate for making such a big deal out of things the last few days. She asks if they can just forget that stuff every happened. Nate hesitates, but agrees. How long will this pause in their problems last?
