Justin is torn when a surprise guest shows up to his and Phoebe’s farewell party. Roo deals with the fallout from being legally served by James’ parents. Ash and Leah’s relationship thaws. Kat gets one step closer to nailing the Pawn Shop vandal.
Extended Summary
Phoebe and Kat have a final swim before Phoebe leaves Summer Bay. Kat, knowing there’s a surprise party being organised, lines Phoebe up to meet her at Salt. Meanwhile at Salt, Tori, Nate, Mason, Brody and Raffy prepare for the Farewell Party. Nate notices Brody looking worse for wear and is concerned.
Roo finishes a tense phone call with James and downloads to Leah about being legally served by James’ parents. James claims he had nothing to do with it but Roo isn’t sure she believes him. Turns out James’ father is a mining mogul. The contract would lock Roo’s baby out of any claim to the family fortune, and they can’t contact James, ever. Roo and Leah are shocked by the callousness.
At the Police Station, Kat is pressured to find the Yabbie Creek Pawn Shop vandal by McCarthy.
Phoebe realises the extent of Justin’s pain over leaving Ava when Raffy makes it obvious that there’s a surprise party that night and Justin’s incredibly reluctant to go. Phoebe goes to Salt to call the party off, much to Mason, Brody and Tori’s disappointment.
Heading over to the Morgan House, Tori gives Justin some tough love over his reluctance to go to the party, pressing that it’s not just about him. Justin realises he’s being selfish and agrees to go. Tori receives a text from Brian asking her to call him.
At the Diner, Roo worries to Leah that James might be siding with his parents. When Ash drops by looking for Irene to sit Luc during the farewell party, Leah offers her services despite still being angry with him. She’s thrilled to hold Luc again.
Kat returns to the Police Station with a partial license plate number for the getaway car (Scarlett’s). McCarthy lets her go to attend Phoebe’s party while he investigates further with Murray.
At Salt, Justin and Phoebe arrive for the party, which is no longer a surprise. The Morgans, Kat and Ash give farewell speeches and Phoebe performs a last song while everyone dances. During the song, Brian arrives with Ava thanks to a text from Raffy. Justin is touched but it’s clear this is making it harder to leave his daughter. Kat is called back to the station after Murray tells her they’ve received a hit from a rental car company.
Meanwhile, needing to run off to solve a caravan park problem, Leah leaves Roo with Baby Luc for a short time. Roo is confronted by this symbol of her future.
At the Police Station, Scarlett Snow is shown to be the driver of the getaway vehicle. Kat is one step closer to finding out that Brody is the Pawn Shop perp.
At the party Nate again notes Brody’s aggravated disposition. Justin performs a heartbreaking ballad to Ava and Phoebe realises the extent of his pain.
Nate tries to talk to Tori about Brody’s behaviour but she’s feeling guilty for not trusting her brother in the past and shuts down the conversation. Saying their farewells, Ava calls Justin “dad” for the first time. Phoebe realises she can’t take Justin away.
Ash makes an effort with Leah as he picks Luc up. Despite still being angry Leah takes the high road and offers to babysit again. Watching this exchange, Roo realises that she is the only one who wants her child. Alf arrives home from his trip and overhears – what flamin’ baby?
Home after the party, Phoebe tells Justin she can’t take him away from Ava. Thinking they will do long distance, she is absolutely floored when Justin breaks up with her.
