Extended Summary

Raffy finds Hope at the bottom of the slope – she’s in a lot of pain. Raffy runs for help, her phone getting no signal in the gully, which explains why the Morgans and Matt can’t get through to her in their attempt to track the sisters down. At the main road, Raffy flags down Nate, who is on his way to work. Nate tells Raffy to keep trying for an ambulance as he administers morphine for the pain, but Hope is slipping in and out of consciousness. Once Hope is rescued and brought into the hospital, Raffy stands by helpless and scared as Nate takes charge amid the rush – it’s a torn liver, she needs an operation. But before Hope is wheeled into surgery she has a quick word with Raffy, telling her the Morgans are all liars and not to be trusted… just as the Morgans and Matt arrive. The operation is a success, which is music to Raffy’s ears, but her big sister’s words resonate with her and she puts her guard up around the Morgans. It throws the brothers, does she know the truth? Brody tests the waters but she seems none the wiser about their shared family secret. However she asks to stay at Matt’s house tonight and the boys are left wondering what has her acting weird. To make matters worse, back at the pier apartment, Raffy asks Roo if she can stay longer than just tonight, making Roo suspicious – what has her avoiding the Morgans? After Raffy receives a text that Hope is out of recovery they drive to the hospital to find Justin and Brody at Hope’s bedside. Raffy tells the brothers to get out, further confirming to Roo that something is up. Roo takes the opportunity to put the hard word on the boys – what has a 13-year-old girl seeking shelter from them, but the boys are just as confused. Justin calls in Phoebe who invites Raffy to stay with her and Kat until Hope recovers. As Phoebe leads Raffy out, she reassures Raffy that while the Morgans have secrets, they’re good people. Meanwhile Justin calls out Hope – she was never going to tell Raffy that she’s the Morgans’ sister – intending instead to leave town with the secret buried. Back at the Morgans, the brothers debate whether it’s in Raffy’s best interests to know – with the boys in witness protection, she might be safer being estranged from them. They agree they can’t do it without Hope. They’ll speak to her once she’s out of hospital.

Olivia and Hunter study for their HSC exams at the Diner. Olivia’s travelling well and calls it a night, but encourages a reluctant Hunter to keep going with Shakespeare if he wants them to attend Uni together, overheard by Olivia’s friend Rebekah. Later Rebekah shares a gripe about English – if only they knew what was on the exam, their studies could be more streamlined… The next morning, Hunter is back at the books. As John asks how he’s coping Hunter half-jokes that perhaps cheating is the answer. John dismisses it, offering instead a good training session to clear the mind. But as Hunter leaves his caravan ready to train he encounters Rebekah again, who properly plants the cheating seed – she has a copy of the English exam and is willing to share it with Hunter at a price – three hundred dollars.

Evelyn looks for Matt at Salt to clear up their last conversation but finds Roo instead and seeks counsel over Matt’s affections – she’s just not interested in that way. When the pair do finally find each other it’s still awkward until Evelyn confesses she’s still hung up on Josh. Matt accepts and understands, but tells her she deserves to move on and be happy, so he’ll ease up on the pursuit and the pressure.
