Extended Summary

Evelyn continues to drive recklessly with Mason in the car, thinking Oscar will protect her. Mason gets increasingly worried and, fearing for their safety, pulls on the handbrake and their car veers off the road and nudges a tree. Both Mason & Evelyn are fine, but when Mason gives Evelyn a serve, telling her Oscar is gone and can’t protect her, Evelyn reacts badly and storms off into the bush, alone. Mason heads to Summer Bay House and informs Leah and Alf, then borrows Tori’s car to help search – all worried for Evelyn’s state of mind.

Meanwhile, Brody comes home from hospital with Nate’s help. Tori is a little emotional after the last week and Nate comforts her before he heads out. Justin & Brody both witness the exchange and enjoy teasing Tori about the pair’s continued chemistry. Brody then begs Tori to stop the protective sister/doctor act and give him a moment alone. Justin drags Tori to the beach and there he drills her more about her love triangle with Nate and Duncan. Tori denies there’s anything going on with either of them and besides, even if she wanted to go there she can’t – the rules. Justin thinks maybe they should change the rules, likely thinking of Phoebe, but Tori is adamant nothing has changed. Justin tries to protest – after last week it’s time they all lived a bit. Tori disagrees and still thinks they should keep romantic relationships out of their lives to save roping anyone else into their mess.

After the beach, Tori heads to apologise to Duncan – earlier in the day she was short with him when he wanted to ask Justin about what he saw when the plane left the airport. Tori is covering the truth to protect her family and hates seeing Duncan so cut up about this. Tori tries to reassure Duncan it wasn’t his fault but Duncan seems determined to find out what really happened. This leads to Tori being sharp with him again, telling him to leave it – it was just an accident. Is Tori’s weird behaviour going to cause suspicion with Duncan? Later when Duncan runs into Nate at Salt, he mentions he’s looking for Tori. Nate says he hasn’t seen her then Duncan awkwardly tells Nate there’s no hard feelings. A perplexed Nate has no idea what he’s talking about, but Duncan thought Tori was acting weird because something was going on between her and Nate. Nate assures they’re just friends… he thought she was into Duncan. Duncan thanks Nate as he leaves and Duncan is left buoyed.

Back at home, Brody’s sleeping on the couch when he has a dream – he’s a young boy, in his room, with crutches nearby. His Mum is there arguing with a man… can’t see exactly who he is…but the man is trying to reassure Brody’s Mum. As Brody dreams, Justin enters and hears him mumbling for “Mum”. Brody wakes with a start and Justin wonders what he was dreaming about? Brody shares it was about their Mum, but nothing more. Brody wants to work out what this dream means for himself.

In the search for Evelyn, Leah goes to the Diner and updates Marilyn and Irene. Marilyn mentions about Evelyn coming to her for a reading earlier and talking about Oscar’s presence with her on the plane. Leah admits Evelyn’s been hiding her grief so well they’ve all let their guard down with her. Meanwhile Evelyn is at the beach on some rocks, crying over Oscar. She screams for him to come back to her… she’s waiting…but nothing happens. Evelyn wades into the choppy water near the rocks…swims out to sea and calls out for Oscar. Will he save her?

Tori tells Justin about Duncan’s determination to find out what happened with the plane crash. Justin dismisses, thinking Duncan will never find out the truth. Tori however remains worried – and annoyed she has to lie about yet another thing – particularly to Duncan. Justin seizes the opportunity to bring up their relationship rules again. He thinks they should stop putting their lives on hold for something that’s never going to end. They’re stuck in witness protection and they should just live their lives already! Tori correctly guesses this is about Phoebe which Justin doesn’t deny. Tori counters that at least Phoebe knows everything – she keeps lying to both Nate and Duncan. How is she ever meant to have a real relationship with all the lies? Justin thinks Summer Bay is the most settled they’ve ever been and this is their life now. Does Tori really want to be alone forever? Tori is left thoughtful. Later, Tori emerges from her room quite dressed up, when Justin questions where she’s going. Tori won’t give away anything though and Justin and Brody smirk as she walks out. Mason, passing through and still on the hunt for Evelyn, gets stopped by Brody. He asks Mason if he ever remembers their Mum fighting with someone? Mason reminds them their Mum hated confrontation. Brody agrees but is clearly still rattled by his dream earlier, trying to put the pieces together.

Meanwhile, whilst everyone is out looking for her, Evelyn is getting further and further out to sea. She’s now struggling to keep her head above water, still distressed and calling out for Oscar. She begins to puff, her breathing laboured, and then slowly starts to slip under water…
