Extended Summary

In a state of shock following Claire’s arrival, Irene sits down to talk with the woman claiming to be her daughter. Claire fills her in on her background, and her search for Irene. As stunned as she is, it all seems to add up for Irene. And she’s thrilled when they seem to find common character traits which support the idea they could be related. But when Claire enquires about her possible biological father’s background, Irene stumbles. She can’t bring herself to explain the horrific circumstances of her baby’s conception. Fortunately, Olivia interrupts the awkward exchange, giving Irene a reprieve. However, later, when Olivia and Claire are alone, Claire presses her to know about her father, and Olivia is forced into telling her the truth. Claire is horrified and flees. Later, Olivia must break it to Irene about what she’s done, which leaves Irene in a panic, fearing that her relationship with Claire is over before it’s even begun.

Kyle’s shift at Angelo’s starts interestingly enough with the arrival of a sexy stranger, Isla Schultz. Claiming to be a saleswoman in Summer Bay on business, she seems to take an instant liking to Kyle – much to Josh’s amusement. Later, Josh hands over the phone number Isla has left for Kyle after her meal. He encourages Kyle to go for it – it’s not like he’s had many offers in the romantic department lately! Meanwhile, Isla is watching Kyle from afar, on the phone to someone, confirming Kyle’s identity. Who is she talking to? When Isla later turns up back at Angelo’s, Kyle is swayed and agrees to have a drink with her after his shift. But just as their flirtation ramps up, Isla reveals her real agenda. She’s an associate of Dave Rogers from Melbourne, the guy Kyle was mixed up with over the illegal poker game. Isla’s here to inform Kyle that Dave’s calling in his debt – Seventy five thousand dollars to be exact. And if he can’t cough up the cash, it’s not just his back that he’ll have to watch, it’ll be his family and friends’ too.

Following their heartfelt declaration last week, Hannah and Chris haven’t had the chance to spend any time together given Hannah’s been away for a few days at a Paramedics seminar. So the plan is for a romantic rendezvous on the beach. However, when they do finally meet up, their conversation is stilted and the mood awkward – certainly not what either had hoped for. The strained exchange is witnessed by Billie who later encourages Hannah to tell Chris exactly how she feels – and what she wants. But Hannah’s reluctant, fearing Chris has had second thoughts and doesn’t want to be with her after all. She vows not to push him. As far as she’s concerned, it’s up to him to make the first move. Meanwhile, Chris is having a very similar conversation with Roo. He’s on the back foot, worried something has changed with Hannah. He too vows to let her make the first move. Coming in just at that moment, Billie overhears and gives a not so subtle lecture. It’s time Chris and Hannah got their act together – once and for all. Later, Hannah’s trying to study back at the farmhouse when she finally gives up. Coming to a decision, she grabs her bag and opens the door to find Chris on the doorstep. They laugh about their awkward encounter earlier and then come together in a steamy kiss, finally affirming their love and commitment to each other.
