Extended Summary

Hannah’s awestruck by the romantic extravaganza Chris has set up for the two of them at the Farmhouse. His plans for a loved-up night under the stars quickly goes awry, however, when they discover the gourmet picnic he’s planned has been invaded by ants. It’s a night to remember all right, but not in the way Chris had planned!

As Olivia frets over how Claire will react, now she’s found out her conception was the result of rape, Irene looks everywhere for Claire. When she finally manages to track her down, she confirms that it’s true. Yes, she was raped by her uncle, who is Claire’s biological father. Irene reminds Claire though that she never would’ve started looking for her child if she didn’t think something wonderful could come from it. She fully understands it’s a lot for Claire to deal with, and apologises from not telling her from the start. Claire is still processing, but understanding of Irene’s hesitation. Then Claire admits there’s something she’s been meaning to show Irene – and she produces a baby photo of herself. Irene’s struck by the image, and she immediately takes Claire home to show her a photo of Finlay, Irene’s daughter, at the same age. It’s as though Claire and Finlay could be twins!

Kyle is under enormous pressure as he scours the books of Angelo’s to come up with the money to pay off his gambling debts to Dave. Kyle summons Ricky to meet him at work, then brings up the idea to sell the gym. Without revealing his true agenda, Kyle tries to persuade Ricky the timing is right to sell, given she and Nate want to buy a house together; they could use the cash from the sale for a deposit. Billie, who’s also at Angelo’s, witnesses the conversation. Ricky later admits to Roo the suggestion’s come out of the blue, and she’s not sure how she feels about it. After all, there’s a lot of memories tied up in that place, and Ricky’s not sure she’s ready to say goodbye to them.

Olivia apologises for her earlier blurt to Claire, but Irene reassures her there are no hard feelings; she understands Olivia wasn’t trying to make trouble by telling Claire the truth about her parentage. Then Irene announces she’s taking everyone out for dessert, to celebrate finding her daughter. Olivia’s wary – shouldn’t they wait until a DNA test has been done before they start throwing a party? Irene reveals she and Claire have decided to hold off on the DNA test for now. They’re both sure they’re mother and daughter, and are concentrating on getting to know each other before bothering with the official paperwork. Leaving Olivia very concerned…

At the Diner, Roo’s ecstatic to hear that Irene has found her daughter. Olivia, meanwhile, takes the opportunity to give Claire a subtle warning that she won’t stand for anyone who tries to take Irene for a ride. Claire gets the message loud and clear. But as she and Irene barrel on, too excited about all the things they have in common, Olivia worries. At the end of the meal, Claire’s about to head back to her hotel but Irene won’t hear of it. She invites Claire to stay, much to Olivia’s chagrin.

Meanwhile, when Billie questions Kyle over the sudden eagerness to sell the gym, she sees right through his vagueness. She knows when something dodgy is going on. After Angelo’s is empty, Kyle reveals to Billie why he needs the money from the sale of the gym. He then receives a text from Ricky, announcing she’ll go along with his plan to sell. Billie assumes this means Kyle’s out of trouble? Far from it, unfortunately. Kyle will still need another fifty grand, and he’s got no idea where to find it. As Billie leaves, Kyle’s gaze falls upon the insurance papers for Angelo’s. There’s a one hundred and fifty thousand dollar payout for fire damage… And we’re left to wonder, is Kyle thinking of doing the un-thinkable?

Chris and Hannah rue the disaster their romantic evening has turned into. Hannah assures Chris she doesn’t care about plagues and pestilence, so long as they’re together. Happy to salvage the evening, Chris whisks Hannah off to the bedroom.

Late at night, Olivia takes the opportunity to search through Claire’s bag. She uncovers a stack of unpaid bills, fines, and an eviction notice. Further proof Claire can’t be trusted, as far as Olivia’s concerned. She confides her fears to Skye the following morning and vows to keep a close watch on Claire.

Chris and Hannah awake having spent a lovely night together, and they’re both feeling on top of the world… until Hannah gets a call from the hospital, wanting her to go in. The dread is already setting in as Hannah explains to Chris they’ve got the results of her BRCA test. What she’s about to be told could possibly change the rest of her life.
