Extended Summary

As Kat lies lifeless on the floor with the oven’s gas pouring into the kitchen at her house, Charlotte nervously paces around her own apartment, then receives a message telling her that Kat’s been dealt with. Charlotte feels like a weight’s been lifted, while time is quickly running out for Kat, alone and completely helpless.

Andy and Evelyn’s bond continues to grow, and she asks him to bring Josh to the formal tonight. Andy thinks it might be pushing it, but he agrees to run it past Josh, giving Evelyn hope.

Frustrated with Maddy’s attitude, Asia insults her. Maddy’s surprised when Oscar doesn’t defend her, but he doesn’t think they should worry about anything Asia says, as Evelyn arrives to help paint the school banner.

At Angelo’s, Ash tells Kyle he can’t work, but when he gets to Phoebe’s, he finds Kat on the floor, and quickly shuts the oven door, switches off the gas and opens the windows. He sees the wound on Kat’s head and gets her to wake up. Kat manages to say Charlotte, leaving Ash reeling.

When Asia admits she’s jealous of Maddy, Oscar tries to shut it down, telling her he loves Maddy, but Asia points out that he kissed her, so there’s obviously problems in his relationship. The guilt and remorse is eating him up.

Andy helps Josh find his way around the house for the first time since he lost his sight, and he’s glad to be home.

Matt hesitantly agrees to go to the formal with Asia as friends.

Kat tells Emerson she thinks Charlotte organised the attack. Emerson can’t understand why, but when she mentions Denny, Kat is forced to cover. He suspects Kat’s been drinking again, but she’s adamant she’s right.

Maddy vents to Oscar about Asia, and he tries to lift her mood, promising they’ll have a night to remember.

Andy asks Josh if he wants to go to the formal, and he decides to think about it. Andy gets a call and has to head to the gym, reluctantly leaving Josh by himself.

Charlotte receives a visit from Emerson with a search warrant for her apartment to investigate Kat’s assault. Charlotte maintains her composure as the police start looking through her place.

Matt arrives at Leah’s to get ready for the formal, and has a charged moment with Maddy before Leah calls out for help with Evelyn’s hair. Evelyn gets a text saying Josh might come to the formal, and her excitement starts to build.

Josh boils noodles on the stove, but is unaware he’s left the hot plate on and burns his hand. Kyle clocks Josh’s injury as he fights the pain, feeling absolutely useless.

The police don’t find any evidence to incriminate Charlotte, but take her laptop back to the station with them. Charlotte knows that if they look in the right place, she’ll be exposed.

Andy and Kyle encourage Josh to take settling back in a bit slower, but he’s still struggling to accept that things will not be the same again. Depressed, he tells Kyle and Andy he’s not going to the formal, making them even more worried.

Kat tells Emerson she found out that Charlotte spoke to Gunno a few hours before the attack. Since the call was unrecorded, Emerson’s certain it will be seen as circumstantial. Kat is hopeful they’ll find something on Charlotte’s laptop, and Emerson warns her to keep her distance – if Charlotte’s guilty they’ll catch her. He leaves, and Ash checks Kat’s alright before taking off as well. Furious, he heads to Charlotte’s, but she won’t admit having anything to do with Kat’s assault, and threatens to start telling people that Brax is alive. Ash makes it clear that if Charlotte tries to hurt Kat again, he’ll end her.

As the teens pose for photos together before they head off to the formal, Oscar is uncomfortable beside Asia. She drags him outside to tell him that they should be together, but Oscar maintains that he loves Maddy. Asia asks Oscar why he kissed her, and Matt overhears. Oscar’s horrified, and begs Matt not to tell Maddy.

At the formal pre-drinks, Maddy helps Matt with his cuff link, and his heart races. But Oscar gets the wrong impression and confronts them, and Asia reveals that she and Oscar kissed. The guilt is written all over Oscar’s face, leaving Maddy speechless.
