Extended Summary

Rocked after finding out that Brax is alive, Phoebe wants Ash to tell Ricky before she finds out from someone else. Ash argues that it’s Brax’s call, and they agree to keep quiet at the barbecue. Meanwhile Ricky and Nate pick up some supplies from Alf, as Nate struggles to keep his cool ahead of proposing later. Alf senses this and changes the subject to Denny’s short message from Holland, making Kat’s ears prick up as she continues to try and figure out why Charlotte was looking at Denny’s itinerary.

Skye’s nervous to see her mother Carol again as she arrives at her home with John and Jett. But Carol hugs Skye when she meets them out the front, and welcomes John and Jett inside, leaving the three of them completely thrown.

Phoebe and Ash find Ricky and Nate near the beach, and as Ash helps Nate set up, Ricky moves off with Phoebe and tells her that she got a bit freaked out when she thought Brax was alive, but Nate is the love of her life now. As she lets Brax go for good, Phoebe bites her tongue, but feels awful keeping the secret.

Carol continues to surprise Skye, apologising for how hard she was on Skye when her sister died, and promises to make it up to her. Skye can’t believe it, but John thinks running away might have been the wake up call she needed.

As Phoebe tells Ash that she’s not happy about hiding the truth, Casey starts crying, and she goes to Ricky’s car to get his dummy. Phoebe stumbles across an engagement ring, and realises Nate’s going to propose, making her feel even worse. Phoebe talks to Nate alone, and he can tell she thinks proposing is a mistake, but then she backtracks, and asks him to forget she said anything.

Blown away at how open and remorseful Carol is, Skye wonders if it’s all an act, or if she’s really changed. When John points out that he changed too, Skye starts to believe that things could work out for her.

Phoebe tells Ash that Nate’s about to propose, but he still thinks they shouldn’t tell Ricky about Brax, as it will completely ruin Ricky’s only chance of happiness. They get back to the beach to find Nate and Ricky playing with Casey, and Phoebe understands what she’ll be destroying if she tells the truth.

At the surf club, Kat asks Charlotte how Denny is connected to Gunno and Trystan. Charlotte plays cool, claiming that she doesn’t know what Kat’s talking about, but is scared it’s only a matter of time before she figures it out. Charlotte races home and makes a phone call to someone asking for help.

As the barbecue ends, Casey starts crying and Ricky apologises to Nate, asking for a rain check on the walk they planned. Phoebe guesses that Nate isn’t proposing today, and tells him not to worry about earlier – he has her full support. Nate thanks her, but Phoebe just hopes she’s made the right decision.

Skye says goodbye to Jett, and he promises to come back and get her if things go badly again, but Skye’s confident it’ll be okay. As they walk away from the house, John assures Jett that Skye’s got their support if she needs it. Jett thanks John, but they quickly start bickering again like the old days. Back at Skye’s, Carol’s true colours return, as she explodes at Skye for running away, and locks her in her room without her phone and laptop. Skye’s devastated, trapped and alone.

Ash thanks Phoebe for keeping quiet, but she’s worried that she can’t trust him any more. Ash swears he isn’t lying about anything else, but the damage is done. Is their relationship over?

Kat searches through Denny’s things looking for clues that could connect her to Charlotte. She hears footsteps, but can’t find where they’re coming from. Suddenly she’s clobbered from behind, and collapses to the floor. Two thugs carry her next to the oven, turn the gas on, and leave as she starts to lose consciousness, abandoned to die…
