Episode 6336

Extended Summary

Ricky and Phoebe wait for Ash to tell them who the mysterious email is from, if not from Brax. Ash explains it away as being from an old friend who he’s doing a job with. Ricky isn’t sure what to believe, and says she needs some time. She goes outside where she stops, breathing hard, her mind on Brax’s death. She gets a text from Nate asking where she is and rushes to meet him. Nate’s waiting with the romantic picnic that he’s set up. Ricky keeps apologising for being late and Nate keeps saying it’s fine. He tries to offer her a drink but she says she needs to go and pick up Casey, leaving Nate alone, all hopes of proposing dashed for now. Back at Angelo’s Phoebe tries to get Ash to tell her what’s going on with the ‘job’, worried that he’s in trouble. Ash gives nothing away and Phoebe stomps out, angry and convinced that he’s hiding something. Later on Ash speaks to Phoebe on the phone, then after hanging up he snaps, hitting boxes and knocking things off the shelves with frustration.

Charlotte sits at her open laptop and brings up Denny’s travel itinerary. She picks a destination and updates Denny’s FaceCloud status as being on her way to Amsterdam.

Hannah comes home to find Kat looking at a mess of papers, files and photos of Charlotte. Hannah expresses her concern that Kat has the papers at all, and that she’s supposed to be taking time off. Kat is intense and focused, telling Hannah that Charlotte is a lying scheming killer, before returning to her research. Hannah is left worried that Kat is too invested.

At the diner John and Jett are preparing to take Skye home. Alf catches them for a light-hearted goodbye and although Skye has a moment of panic, Jett and John manage to calm her a little. They arrive and get out of the car, with John talking about how lovely the town is. Jett makes Skye laugh by predicting what John will say next. As they walk and look for somewhere to have lunch a local teenage boy approaches. Skye sees him and tries to steer them away but too late, he refers to Jett as Skye’s latest sucker and waltzes off, leaving John and Jett thrown. After they’ve sat down to eat Jett tries to ask about the guy but John interrupts, suggesting that Skye go and order for them all. Once she’s gone he tells Jett that she clearly doesn’t want to talk about it but before he gets much further the guy appears again and tells them she’s trouble and a liar. Skye comes out and catches them talking. Jett confronts her but despite his reassurance, she gets upset assuming he thinks she’s lying about her mum and walks off. John finds her sitting on a bench and when he sits next to her, showing her how concerned they were she opens up and tells him how she reacted when her sister died, that she lied about things and the guy that they bumped into copped a lot of her stories. John’s understanding takes Skye by surprise and they start to form a bond. Later on as they go to check into their hotel Skye enjoys the warm banter between Jett and John but is still on edge about the following day. The guys do their best to cheer her up but they have little effect.

Back at the diner Alf greets Ricky and Nate as they enter, calling them ‘the happy couple’ with Nate silently waving him off from behind Ricky. Alf quickly covers and when Ricky goes to sit down Nate explains that she was late and that the proposal didn’t happen. Alf encouragingly says Nate will get another chance soon. After Nate joins Ricky at a table Hannah comes over to them, asking whether they’ve seen Kat recently. She expresses her concerns and asks them to keep an eye on her too. Later Nate bumps into Kat on his way into the gym and tries to talk to her but she just tells him she’s not his to worry about anymore.

That night Kat waits until Charlotte goes out and then, after finding a spare key under a flower pot, she sneaks into Charlotte’s apartment. She searches the apartment then opens the laptop, finding Denny’s itinerary open. Before she can look further Ash comes in and Kat hustles him straight out knowing they can’t get caught. Kat guesses that Ash was going to talk to Charlotte about Gunno and tries to draw him out about it but her intensity makes him think she’s losing the plot. Kat insists that she’s getting closer to solving the case and as she walks away Ash is left feeling the weight of his deception about Brax. Ash finds Phoebe eating dinner alone and jokes about his. When he asks if they’re cool Phoebe tells him that all she wants is for him to be honest and she knows that he’s not being truthful with her. Ash tries to put her off but when she asks what the point of them being together is if he doesn’t trust her he caves and admits that the email was from Brax. He’s alive… !
