Extended Summary

Ash is convinced that Sam – the disgruntled local barman – murdered Dean after realising he could easily make it look like Brax committed the crime. He remembers Sam saying that Dean bashed him up, forcing him to abandon his dream of becoming a pilot. Brax also recalls that Sam overhead them talking about Dean and Billie. Phoebe finally tells Kyle about Brax’s arrest. Ignoring medical advice, Kyle discharges himself and returns home, where Brax fills him in on the situation. When Ash sees Kat at the Diner, he tells her their theory about Sam the barman. Kat tells Ash that the police detectives have looked into Sam Kennedy, and he’s not being considered a suspect as he has no criminal history. Kat warns him to stop interfering in the case, lest the suspicion fall on him. Back at the Braxton’s, Ash offers to go back into the bush to extract a confession from Sam. With Brax on strict bail conditions which mean he has to sign-in at the station every two days, Kyle offers to accompany Ash in his place. Phoebe can’t believe what she’s hearing – Kyle’s just sustained a serious injury! Brax decides he’ll go, and he and Ash go to leave, but Ricky advises them to wait until after Brax’s next sign-in at the police station. Luckily Brax follows Ricky’s guidance, as Kat soon turns up, wanting to know why she saw Ash with packed bags at the caravan.

Jett is upset that John is seriously considering selling the house, in order to move away from the Braxton’s. Marilyn tells Jett that she’ll chat to John about it. She makes John sit down and talk, and asks him to consider how much the house means to Jett. This house was the first place where Jett ever felt safe. But when John overhears Kyle and Phoebe arguing about shady Braxton business in the backyard, it cements his opinion that it’d be better to move. John asks Brax whether there’s going to be more trouble next door, and Brax is blunt: he can’t guarantee their safety. John comes back to Marilyn and Jett with a compromise: they’ll avoid the trouble for a night by staying at Alf and Roo’s.

Hannah struggles to tell her family that she may never be able to walk. When Josh and Evelyn arrive at the hospital to see her, Evelyn gives Hannah the perfect opportunity to come clean. But Hannah stays silent. Hannah notices Denny watching Andy, but Denny tells her that she doesn’t have a problem with Andy – she has a problem with Hannah not telling the twins about the seriousness of her condition. Taking the initiative, Denny tells Evelyn about Hannah’s prognosis.
