Kyle’s chances of survival are slim. Someone finds out they may never walk again while another is in a deep coma. Will Sophie hand herself into police?
Extended Summary
Phoebe arrives home from her disastrous launch party. She’s sobered up a bit on the car drive, and Ash asks her if she took any drugs. Phoebe is adamant that she didn’t take a thing and Andy tells her that they think her drink was spiked. Phoebe finally finds out about the bus accident and rushes to hospital. When she sees Kyle lying in his hospital bed, she breaks down. Ricky finds out about what happened at Phoebe’s gig. Phoebe admits her guilt to Ricky – if she hadn’t had her launch, Kyle wouldn’t have been on that bus.
Sophie wanders the hospital crying, watching the calamity she has caused. She asks Brax and Ricky to forgive her. Brax asks Nate what Sophie is talking about, and he admits that Sophie caused the accident. Nate later gets a call from Sophie, asking him to meet her at the beach. He turns up and Sophie tells him that she’s called the police and told them that she’s responsible for the accident. Nate tells her that she really needs psychological help – she wasn’t thinking straight. As the police arrive to take Sophie away, she tells Nate that she’s not his problem anymore.
Zac and VJ arrive at the surf club, looking for Leah. No one has seen her since the accident. Sasha tells Alf that Leah was sitting next to her on the bus. He makes an urgent call to Nate, who starts searching for Leah with the SES. It’s not long before they locate Leah’s body behind some bushes. Leah is rushed to hospital. When Zac and VJ arrive, Nate tells them that it’s not good news – Leah has suffered bleeding on the brain. Nate tells Zac that her chances of survival are not good. When Zac suggests they should call VJ’s grandmother, VJ lashes out at him, telling him he’s not a part of the family
At hospital to check on Kyle, Andy finds out from Josh that Hannah was also seriously injured in the accident. Hannah comes out of surgery and is told by Nate that two of her vertebrae were crushed and they don’t know yet whether her spinal injury is ‘complete’ or ‘incomplete’. Andy hovers outside her hospital room. When he enters, Hannah confesses to him that she may never walk again. He tells her that he loves her and that he’ll be with her forever.
