Extended Summary
Hurting after his break up with Matilda, Ric bumps into Kirsty and Oliver on the beach, and finds a much needed distraction in helping her get up to scratch with computers before she starts her new job.
Meanwhile, Matilda decides to try one last attempt to convince Ric to go with her to Perth, but when she goes to speak to him, finds him laughing with Kirsty, seemingly happy and unperturbed by their break up. Instead of telling him the truth, Matilda uses the situation to pick up more of her things.
Though having spent the night in the Diner, and despite his foul mood, Aden persists in telling Belle that everything is fine between he and his dad. But as the pair argue, Irene begins to realise they are more than just workmates. Belle admits they are a couple, and Aden overhears what sounds like an explanation that she’s mercy dating him.
Belle does her best to placate him, and finally Aden accepts her apology, and comes out with the truth of what’s going on between he and Larry. After conquering, at least for now, the urge to drink, Larry seeks out his son, but Aden’s not interested in moving back in, or even trying anymore. He wants Larry out of his life for good. Thus spurned, Larry hits rock bottom.
Jack is getting very excited about the ultrasound Martha is having, but Martha has something else on her mind. She shows up at the hospital early to see Rachel before Jack arrives. She has some tests, but doesn’t want Rachel to know anything is going on until the results come back. When they do, it’s enough to outweigh even the elation of seeing their child for the first time. Martha may have breast cancer.
