The truth is revealed about Jai’s obsession with Matilda. Could Roman have a future with Charlie, Summer Bay’s newest Police Officer?

Extended Summary

Matilda suspects that Jai may have more on his mind than study when he admires her perfume and tries to hold her hand during a tutorial. But seeing how embarrassed he is when she doesn’t respond, she decides not to do anything about it. It is only later when an angry Ric finds him in their bedroom smelling her clothes that she wishes she had. A concerned Miles is left to deal with the situation and that is when the sad truth really comes out; Jai doesn’t have a crush on Matilda, she just reminds him of his mother. He was smelling her clothes so he could breathe in the perfume, which is the same as his mother wore.

Roman is busy with the plans for the ‘new and improved Diner’ and is surprised when Aden and Nicole are far from enthusiastic. He soon picks up on the tension between them, which Nicole is putting down to their dispute over him not seeing his father. However, Aden knows it is about his relationship with Belle. Meanwhile, Belle is angry with Aden for telling Nicole in the first place and during an outburst she denies they have a relationship. Aden is left devastated.

Aden eventually makes it to the hospital to see his father and Larry is over the moon. Rachel informs Aden that with the right care Larry should be able to go home. Aden is stunned when she suggests that care should come from him – that Aden move home to look after Larry after all they have been through. Despite initial reluctance, Aden realises there is no alternative and he heads to the hospital to break the news to a disbelieving and delighted Larry.

There’s a new Police Officer in Summer Bay, Ross’ daughter, Charlie Buckton – a smart, fit, highly educated perfectionist with the social prowess of a bull. And it doesn’t take her long to get off on the wrong foot with Jack, as well as with Colleen and Alf. A badly handled situation on the beach sees Jack confront her about her actions and tell her that if she’s to survive in Summer Bay, she will have to make more of an effort to get along with the locals. However, there is one local who she seems to be having no problem getting along with. But will her kiss with Roman be just a one-off or could it be the beginning of a beautiful romance?
