Extended Summary

It’s the day after the wedding and the two main protagonists are dealing with things in totally contrasting ways. Josie is an absolute wreck – refusing to leave the house. Jesse on the other hand is acting as if he’s not affected, turning up for a morning run with Flynn. Josie accepts Tasha inside and forgives her – she’s angrier at Marc and herself. Most disturbing for Tasha is the fact that Josie still thinks her and Jesse can work things out.

Meanwhile Sally and Flynn continue their frosty relationship while keeping up appearances in front of Ric. Ric confronts Sally about it and she concedes there is a problem, but they’ll work their way through it. Later on, Flynn walks into the Diner and catches Sally there, when she was supposed to be having lunch with him. She stumbles out an excuse and exits for work, leaving an increasingly frustrated Flynn.

Matilda is dreading having to face Ric at school after he ‘dumped’ her over the phone. Henry says he’ll be there for her. At school, Ric acts as if everything is normal. Matilda reminds him he ‘dumped’ her the week before! Ric objects that they weren’t actually going out! He still wants to be mates. Matilda isn’t interested – she huffs off. Ric later tries to reason with her but Henry intervenes and the two of them get into a scuffle. Beth breaks it up and rips into the two of them. Clearly something’s affected Beth. She confides to Hyde that she’s received official divorce papers from Rhys. She thought she’d dealt with it, but clearly she hasn’t. Hyde is the perfect friend, offering words of supportive comfort. Later that day, Beth finally signs the papers, with the loving support of her kids behind her.

Tasha decides to talk to Jesse – despite Robbie’s warning not to. She tells Jesse that Josie may have made a mistake, but she still loves him. Jesse says if Josie’s labouring under the misapprehension that a reunification is possible, then Tasha can pass a message on from him…they’re finished. Leah goes on a comfort mission, first to Josie and then to Jesse. Jesse assures he’s dealing with it all fine. He doesn’t need help. Leah is not convinced. And she’s right. Jesse is bottling everything up rather than dealing with it.

Flynn has it out with Sally about what he perceives as her avoidance of the problem between them. He thinks he’s the only one trying. But Sally says he’s wrong if he thinks they can just go back to the way things were. The two are once again at an impasse.

Josie gets a letter from Jesse telling her she’s been thrown out of the business. She storms over to confront him, but Jesse is unrepentant – as far as he’s concerned, her life in Summer Bay is over…she should pack up and clear out. Later that night, the situations come full circle. Josie has started to lock herself away – denying her emotions. While Jesse finally breaks down in Leah’s arms – his aching heart finally breaking.
