Xavier met Miranda when he was doing a pizza delivery job. She was sharing a house with Kieran Munroe and his friend Pete and forced the pair to give her the money for the pizza, telling Xavier that “the ugly one” was her brother. She invited him to a party they were having that evening and Xavier turned up with Romeo; Nicole and Indi also attended, having been invited by some uni friends. Xavier and Miranda got chatting during the event and learned they both liked surfing.
A few days later, Xavier and Dexter ran into Miranda on the beach. Dexter let slip that he was still at school but Xavier managed to cover, claiming he was a philosophy student at uni. He invited Miranda to a party Ruby and Casey were organising at a holiday home they’d managed to get the keys to. Having managed to get information on philosophy from Gina, Xavier managed to bluff Miranda into thinking he was knowledgeable about the subject. However, they left the party early when Heath and his friends threw April into the swimming pool and they had to take her home.
Xavier and Dexter next saw Miranda at the surf club and, since they were both in school uniform, Xavier grabbed a lifeguard’s uniform as a disguise. He introduced Miranda to John and she asked him about joining the surf club. She took Xavier out and he was surprised when she took him to an art gallery, assuming they’d go to a club. He just about managed to bluff his way through the visit, even when she introduced him to a friend of hers, Oscar, who was studying philosophy. Oscar quickly saw through Xavier’s act but Miranda remained oblivious. Xavier took her down to the beach where he seemed on the verge of telling her the truth when she kissed him and they ended up spending the night on the beach.
Miranda and Xavier trained together but he found himself hopelessly outclassed, having exaggerated his experience. She ran into Gina, who she became Facebook friends with, and Gina invited her to give a motivational speech about being an Ironwoman champion at school. Miranda was shocked to see Xavier in the class but he convinced her to give him a second chance and she agreed to a date. When he turned up, he admitted he had to do one last delivery job, which Miranda was fine with. However, he was then struck by a series of calamities when the pizzas were stolen from his bike and then he lost the keys down the drain. Miranda was pressed into service to help him deliver some bought pizzas to the customer and told the customer they were free when Xavier tried to spin him a yarn to explain turning up with the wrong order. When Xavier then tried to come up with a cover story when confronted by Angelo, Miranda bluntly told Angelo what really happened, then told Xavier she was fed up of him lying to everyone and didn’t want anything more to do with him.
She ran into Xavier again when they were chosen to represent Summer Bay in a photoshoot prior to the surf carnival against Mangrove River. She continued to be dismissive of him but chatted with Gina and Roo about John’s inflammatory tweets on the carnival, which she found funny. At the carnival, she competed against Ruby, who was representing Mangrove River. When Ruby tried to overtake her on her surf ski, Miranda knocked her off with her paddle, going on to win the race, and the judges ruled the move fair since she’d had no room to do anything else. When Xavier also won his race, Miranda was impressed and congratulated him but put an end to his hopes of getting back together by revealing she was now dating Oscar.
