Extended Summary

Colleen rabbits on to Irene about being barred for life from the Bowls Club – she won’t have it over a tiny incident! Meanwhile, Rach is trying to understand why Hugh got so ‘thingy’ about the set up with Julie. She asks Colleen if anything happened between Julie & Hugh after they left lunch? She said they looked very happy. Kim thinks Hugh’s problem might be with Rach – he was polite to Julie, but annoyed you set him up? Could be that – but he doesn’t usually take himself so seriously… At the hospital, Hugh stares blankly at a vending machine. He opens his wallet for change and we see a photo of him with Rach in their uni days – and we know he’s in love with her!

Later that night, Colleen comes off the phone, furious – Betty Aslop took the Regional Director of Bowls to lunch and poisoned his mind against Colleen returning to the Club! Irene suggests she blow off the Summer Bay Club and find another. This leaves her thoughtful… Kim & Rach finish their dinner – she has to head back to work, hoping that Hugh won’t hold a grudge. Kim gets a call from Kit – something’s not right. He races over to find Kit pacing. She’s having strong pains, thinks it’s for real this time. They grab Kit’s bags – this is definitely it! By the time they get through the examination – all are disappointed, another false alarm. Kit’s teary – all this again for nothing. Rachel and Kim try to boost her spirits – the baby will come in it’s own time. Kit & Kim head off again, as Rach and Hugh arrive at the nurses station together. He moves off quickly – business like. Rach confronts him – what’s going on? Hugh doesn’t want to talk about it – Rach points out the Julie lunch was just a bit of fun. Is it something else? What are you hiding? He snaps – he isn’t hiding anything! I’m just tired. Rach knows there’s more to it, but how to get it out of him? Later, Hugh finds Rach and apologises. Rach thinks he’s hung up on someone else, that’s why he got so irate at the set up? Hugh admits that’s the case. He describes the woman – it’s Rachel without him admitting to it. He can never have the woman he truly loves – Rachel.

Cam is deciding on take-away for dinner – but Martha is preoccupied with thoughts of not getting off on her charges. He reassures her – the charges will get dropped, then we’ll figure out who set you up, okay? Martha snuggles to him, thankful for his support. Cam gets a call – he has to go to the Club – something urgent. He heads off with purpose, leaving a concerned Martha in his wake. At the Club Cam is in a spin with the news of their major investor pulling out. Cam’s fuming; this is all Jack’s fault re the raid and bad publicity. Cindy comments if he’d not planted the drugs on Martha and just gotten rid of them, they’d have left you alone for good – but Cam wanted to pay Jack back for the set up. He’s kicking himself now, he might lose the Club. Other investors will freak now and pull out too. Martha answers a knock at the door of the Diner Apartment – one of Terry’s thugs is here to collect the car. Cam’s car? The thug informs her it’s on loan to Cam and now that loan is up. He wants the keys, now.

Martha heads to the Club – tells Cam about the car and he’s not happy. He explains it was the major investors and he’s pulled out – he’ll be working for a while, no need for her to stay on. If anyone’s to blame it’s Jack Holden. Martha agrees – another reason to feel closer to Cam and further estranged from her family. She brings Cam a coffee and in his irate state, knocks it over the paper work, snapping at her – just go! She’s stunned at his tone and heads for the door. Cam immediately realizes he was out of line, his world unraveling. Martha heads to the Diner and Alf clocks something’s up. He holds her, Martha’s pride crumbling and she explains how Cam treated her. Alf reckons she cut ties with the place – start afresh. Then Cam appears at the door – he apologises, knowing he’s got a lot of ground to make up for. Alf leaves them to it – concerned. Cam asks for another chance – she agrees and they hold each other – but we can see that her confidence in him has been shaken…

The next morning, Kim wakes on Kit’s couch – she didn’t want to wake him. Kit’s getting breakfast, when she drops a pan Kim is stunned – Kit says… my waters just broke. Okay, this time it’s really going to happen! At long last, after all the stress and false calls – this is really it!
